I have the 6500 HS. It can handle being dunked completely underwater and be 100% fine and working. Penn reels has always been a work horse and the drag is smooth. Both of the round knob are good, I prefer the metal knob.

Great reels well made great drag.Theyll stop just about anything and the retrieval rate of line is unreal. I have 3 of these reels all different sizes they never let me down whatever species Im targeting. Highly recommended

I was not satisfied with the PENN Authority 4500HS, it was making some noise, and I returned it to the shop, and they replaced it with a Slammer IV 4500HS
I bought this reel for my wife with a pink st croix tidemaster inshore med rod. She loves it but I think I use it as much as she does. The reel is a bit heavier, 3.4 oz, than my 3k stradic but I really don't notice the weight difference that much. The reel is smooth and casts well.
This reel is for Popping big tuna! I'm testing it out on smaller fish and its great!

I fish almost exclusively for inshore stripers with lures. This type of fishing involves constant casting and puts a reel to the test. The Penn Authority has impressed me as a worthwhile upgrade to the Slammer III, IV and DX. The weight balances well with lures in the 1/2 oz +/- range.So far,, I’ve had no line roller noise, smooth, clunk free retrieve and reduced wind knots. The drag starts smoothly and maintains consistent resistance. It responds to hard hits and long runs. When set properly, it aids in reducing hook pullouts.Once you own a Penn Authority you won’t want to fish with anything else.
Exceptional reel! I fish approximately 200 days a year with customers exclusively in salt water. From casting lures to live bait Penn Authority is built to take a beating. Bull Redfish will test the limits of any reel especially if you do it day in day out. The drag on the Authority is super smooth and my customers speak highly of them.
no instructions in box ,came with nice extra handle but it loosened first cast no tool to fix it? the bail closes on casting overall the cheaper reels worked better
