Have been looking at upgrading the beach rod, and after weeks of walking past this one and finally grabbed it! Best decision I’ve made and shouldOf got it earlier! Easy to carry round as it breaks down being a 3 piece. Easy to put together and the right casting weight makes it so much better for flicking a lure out into the surf for some tailor!

Great rod. Used it for casting whole pillies or squid and 3-6 oz leads. Throws them beautifully with catapult or pendulum style cast. Paired with a Thunnus 12,000 and 15kg braid i was winching in sharks a bit over a meter long easier than expected. Definitely getting another one the same.

Good size rod for the beach on local perth areas. It is medium heavy feel so will hold up to tailor and salmon fine, won't feel much on the smaller fish. It has a good flick and flexible but durable enough for constant lure casting. Rod handle is very comfortable and light, went from a Daiwa 12ft crossfire to this and much better experience. Paired it with a 6000 Daiwa Revros and 30lb braid. good fun with the salmon on. I would look into getting the even light rod option if I could for constant lure fishing.
Nicely constructed, light to use for a big weight rod. The rod does a fantastic job of throwing the bait out there but it needs to operate in the higher sinker weight ranges to maximise its full potential. Around the 6oz lead weight it seems to perform best. Definitely for the bigger baits and bigger fish as it was intended but in saying that leaves enough sensitivity in the tip to know the picker fish are at your bait. It does what Penn say it does and would highly recommend for bigger bait bigger fish fishing.
Absolutely love the Penn Prevail rods, they are strong and robust. I use mine for both Rock and Surf Fishing as well as for when I drone my baits from the beach.Have had the 12, 13 and 14 foot variants
Haven't had a chance to use this fishing rod yet but the construction looks great - materials used are carbon fibre outer shield and fibregalss inner with stainless steel guides. I needed a slightly heavier tip for casting and the 10-15 kg line rating with 50 - 150g casting weight looks like it will do the job.I placed an online order and despite being in a very remote part of WA the cost of postage was minimal although delivery did take over 2 weeks, but probably to be expected.
I brought this rod because my 12 foot 2 piece surf rods made it inconvenient for the front seat passenger to get out of the door of our corolla ascent hatch. It’s breaks down into three equal sized pieces just over 4 foot in length, and can fit diagonally across the hatch back, not interfering with the front or rear seats at all. It doesn’t cast a three or a four ounce star sinker with two pilchards any further than my 12 footer, but well worth the cost for the lack of moaning from the passengers.
Just returned from a two week fishing trip in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.The rod performed flawlessly during the two weeks, paired with the Aero Technium 10000 xsc reel. The two worked amazingly well together casting further than I ever have been able to. Pulling the rooster fish in through the surf was very easy keeping pressure on the line to prevent loosing a hook-up. The Sierra I caught were no match for this combo. This rod has now replaced my Kencor 13' three piece as my rod of choice. The balance point is excellent eliminating fatigue while fishing. The graphite construction reduces weight compared to a fiberglass composite.
It was just my second time using the rod when it broke on my cast. Was chasing tailor at kwinana beach. It was very windy that night but i dont think that was enough to broke the rod upon casting. Brought the rod back at BCF cannington and waited for more than a month when they finally replaced it. I hope the replacement rod that I recieved performed to what it was priced for.
