I bought a 3500 and a 4500 DXIf these reels are any thing like the Slammer lll's they should be near perfect. More ball bearings and more sealing should make them a easy sell. Ill be back with a report asap!

Smoother than expected and you can definitely feel the power under load. Paired with a 9ft tica surf rod and it casts a mile! I use 30lb Maxcuatro and it's perfect.

I've owned a lot of spinning reels in my time, (nearly every brand) and some were great reels. This Penn Slammer lV is quality that can get into the ring with any heavy weight fighter. These are military tough and smooth too. The drag is consistently smooth on long runs and the bail is solid. I will never switch again from Penn again. Price represents quality and I expect to get YEARS and YEARS of enjoyment knowing that I have the advantage once hooked up. The only thing that this reel needs is line and an angler saying "Fish on".

The slammer 4 2500 is a beast. I primarily kayak fish the salt and these reals are perfect. They are smooth and refined but held up to a beating. I have a pair of the newest spinfishers that also have held up. I have gone through diawa bgs, Stradics, and a few other reels that we’re smooth as butter but could not hold up to the beating they take on a kayak.
This is the second I have bought. I was so absolutely blown away by my first, I just had to get another for the boat in Australia! Smooth winding, fast retrieve, easy casting, this reel has it all.
Have a Saragosa 14k, but wanting something anlittle smaller. Ordered an 8k, but it’s not much different. Checked out a 6k, and that was much smaller than I wanted. It’s as small as the BG 4000, which I already have. Did a little more research and ended up with the Slammer 5500. It’s the right size for plenty if my fishing applications, and more than sufficient drag to accomodate. Will be using this reel as a general purpose reel, for jigging, bottom fishing, and for fishing on the pier, surf, or jetty.
It’s a great strong reel. The first one that came was broken. Customer service was great. They sent another one within 2 days and I sent back the broken one.

Fantastic build quality . Fully waterproof. Built for salt water use .Great size for light lure fishing bass , perch , zander and pike. Had it in the surf already and performed faultlessly. Very pleased with this purchase.
weather rubbish down here so haven't used it yet. also waiting on a backorder for a braid I want to use. The 2500 is a perfect "lightweight' but durable, shore or inshore lure or light/medium bait reel
