Excellent reel, smooth and superb quality. I have injuries so this reel really makes what would normally be a long painful day a lot more enjoyable due to the high speed retrievals. I'm glad I can still enjoy a days fishing with this magical reel.
I bought this reel after a lot of research back in Oct 2022. Unfortunately, after two months the bail arm stuck open rendering the reel unusable and although it was fixed under warranty, I didn't get it back until 27th Jan 2023. The piece that broke is called a "pivot arm."I have had to buy another reel and although this one now works, I don't trust it, so it's my backup.Not what I expected from a $400 reel

I purchased this reel prior to a 1 week Swains Reef fishing trip after my old spinning reels were showing their age. With it's 40lb drag, I was delighted with the way I could control large fish. Could not be happier with the Penn Slammer - best spinning reel I have ever used!
