Great reel. Just a touch heavy for us old guys. Strong, great design, old school like a Ford V8. Buy two. I did. That way you get a free spool and spare parts as well. I like the 850 personally but there's nothing wrong with the 950.

I bought this a year ago, put a spool of cheap chinese 80lb braid. found a heavy penn 7 ft rod on sale for $90 matched up nicely. Took it Trolling with my heavy setups huge heavy Spanish Macks on the bite, ended up using it to catch a few monsters did the job but lucky sharks were slow that day, not as strong as my other skull draggers but works. good alrounder if matched with a spin rod cast, troll and bottom bounce no problem. they are so cheap getting my mates to buy one each for annual fishing trip.

Tgese are simple, reliable and hard wearing reels. For an everyday jetty, beach or rock wall reel they do the job nicely.Not the heaviest drags compared to other reels but they have a high line capacity which many other reels don't have so that helps combat that.I have the 750 and the 950 in my kit, nothing bad to say about them at all, and for $89 youd be hard pressed to find anything better in that price bracket.Only things stopping me rating 5 stars - there is a little part on the bracket that juts out, this stops the bail arm opening if not in the right spot, that can get annoying. That and these are on the heavier side, so can unbalance some lighter graphite rods but are not bad on traditional glass rods.
