Penrite Gear Oil 80W-90 is a mineral based, multipurpose gear oil suitable for use in differentials, both limited slip and conventional as well as manual transmissions that require API GL-5/6 specification fluids. Penrite Gear Oil 80W-90 is formulated with extreme pressure additives to provide maximum oil film strength for increased protection, ideal for use in applications that are prone to high shock and heavy loads. The premium mineral base oils provide superior thermal stability while also maintaining cleanliness and reducing abrasive wear extending the oil drain interval. Penrite 80W-90 also contains the correct amount of Limslip additive for use in limited slip differentials therefore, requiring no extra additives. To find the manual transmission or diff oil suggested for your vehicle; either add your vehicle to My Garage or check with your manufacturer, vehicle user manual, your local mechanic or head in-store and talk to one of our friendly team.

Suitable for rear axles that require mineral-based (Non-Synthetic) lubricant on axles, especially for mid-size or smaller SUV's. Check Owner's manual as reference guide.

This is my second purchase as the previous one was wrong grade. The diff oil capacity is about 1.7L so the 2L is about right taking into account the losses during oil change. Diff oil change is always difficult due to awkward location of the filler hole. Fortunately I have a fluid transfer pump which has made the task a lot easier. The car has been driven for 175,000km and the owner's manual does not recommended to change diff oil. Nevertheless after new oil has replaced the existing black oil, the car is runnig much smoother.

Always use Penrite when I want to be nice to my car. It has a very useful extended lid that allowed me to squeeze the oil into my diffs and gearbox.

Worked mint on my 98 Subaru Legacy GTB w/250xxx kms. Had tried the Full Synth and Semi Synth products but both were too thin and i had grinding changing 4th to 5th. Tried this along with Nulon G70 and that did the trick. All gear changes smooth now.
I have no reason to believe that this oil does not meet the specifications quoted in the data sheet, however it does say that the oil is "blue" when it's clearly green. If that wasn't odd enough upon querying Penrite tech support they would not admit that it was "green" just that others had enquired as well and that the actual colour might depend on the base oil colour. For myself, I'm more concerned that it's actually the GL-5 80W-90 marked on the container for the health of my transfer case, however despite providing the batch number they could not even confirm this. They said it had been dyed blue for "decades" which makes me wonder why they haven't got this right yet. Why dye the oil if it doesn't match the specification? Why not just leave it in the natural ... MoreI have no reason to believe that this oil does not meet the specifications quoted in the data sheet, however it does say that the oil is "blue" when it's clearly green. Been using for years in motorcycle differentials without issue. SuperTenere’s, GTR1400 and XMax scooters have had countless oil changes and have never failed.
One of the free gear oils that meet the Ford Specification for Ford Rangers. Has used several times and the oil has performed well in my viehicles.
I used this penrite 80w90 gear oil the other weekend in my 1994 ford courier 5 speed manual. I changed the differential oil and also changed the manual gear box with this product . I added penrite smooth shift in the gear box as well. After I was finished I went for a drive started going through the gears and the gear box feels so awesome now changing through the gears. This is the reason I always use penrite oil for anything.Thank you penrite
So far pretty good. Could never get it into reverse without grinding unless I put it into first gear prior. Slips in almost everytime now.
TL;DR - smoother gear changes and acceleration, better cornering, lower noise and fuel consumption. This was bought to replace some really bad diff oil that was contaminated with water and dust after the diff breather hose broke off. That oil had reached 180 000 km before being changed. Symptoms included hard acceleration on hills (to overcome stiction) and through roundabouts, and poor cornering (resulting in kerb strikes and short cutting roundabouts) because the diff acted like a fixed axle, not a freewheeling one, so oversteering and understeering occurred. When it was drained it looked like freshly brewed coffee - chocolate coloured and frothy. Immediately after the oil change the car steered like it was on rails, it accelerated through corners, and went up ... MoreTL;DR - smoother gear changes and acceleration, better cornering, lower noise and fuel consumption. This was bought to replace some really bad diff oil that was contaminated with water and dust after the diff breather hose broke off. When it was drained it looked like freshly brewed coffee - chocolate coloured and frothy. Immediately after the oil change the car steered like it was on rails, it accelerated through corners, and went up hills, without changing down a gear. Also the auto transmission didn't make so many harsh gear changes when cold, because the friction was massively reduced. Fuel consumption has also dropped, especially on the highway. The amount of magnetic material in the old oil was scary. The oil has been changed twice, since, to be sure all the old junk has been flushed properly. It's cheap insurance.Do yourselves a favour people and check your diff oil and breather pipes, and don't let diff oil changes go beyond about 50 000 km. Changing the diff oil is fairly simple on a lot of Australian cars. Get some of this and a new gasket. Follow the simple how-to videos you can find online, and start enjoying the benefits of a happier diff.
