The optics are quite good, with good sharpness toward the edge of the field, though not quite as good as similar Nikons I got 20 years ago.There are some negatives, though.* The eyecup conversion is push-pull. That's fine, but if you leave the eyecups pulled out, the binoculars no longer fit in the case.* In addition, with the eyecups out (i.e., not wearing glasses) the cups have to be pressed right into your eyes to reach within the eye relief point, making it uncomfortable if you happen to have eyelashes.* The diopter adjustment is hard to turn, making it difficult to adjust while looking through the glasses. Friends of ours had these during a recent cruise vacation. So, we ordered our own set. These are great for travel. Lightweight, easy to use. Surprisingly good optics for the size and the price. (I am a hunter, so I use higher end optics for hunting, but I spend quite a bit more than what these cost for my hunting binoculars.) I would recommend these for travel, for backpacking (where size and weight might matter), and for anytime you just want a convenient set of binoculars.

Excellent imaging and easy adjustments plus weight and size make this ideal for travel and back-packing. Great for nature study and sports as well as scenery viewing. The price is easy on finances and a great value.
Great material quality, very well built, and pretty bright optics for such a small model. The anti-reflex coating does good work, the image is clear and sharp.
The eye relief is listed as 9.5mm, almost a centimeter. However, the eyecups extend significantly less than that, yet it's not possible to get full field of view at that extension, so I do not believe their eye relief spec.The lifetime warranty it turns out only applies during the time period that Ricoh (owner of Pentax) considers to be the product lifetime, i.e. as long as they choose to keep parts for it. That might be 10 years, or it might be 2 years; they don't say.I am returning the product because of unusable eye relief.
