Energel pens write pretty nicely, they’re cheap and they’ll do the job. However, they’re not at all waterproof. I filled out some very important docs using these pens and a couple drops of water hit them and completely made them in illegible. The dates on my forms were nothing but a pretty smear of ink. Looked like a watercolor painting where the drops of water touched the ink. If you need a pen with ink that will last, you’ll need to look elsewhere. Thank god I had taken pics of these docs prior to them being erased, I was able to avert a complete, costly disaster. Just a couple drops of liquid, not a rainstorm, not fully submerged, a couple drops of water. Likely condensation from a drink on a table. Buyer beware

wrote all my social psyc notes with this pen and nearly cried when i finished it a week before finals. bought it again and will always have 2 handy. super duper comfy to write with, no smudge, consistent ink flow. what more could you want

**update* 5 stars to 4** After only three months of pretty light use, FOUR of the pen's side pieces (that you attach to your shirt) have broken clean off. Now they're pretty useless, for my purposes, as I cant attach them anywhere. I am very picky about pens but I love these! The .5mm may be too small for some but I think it allows you to write in smaller places and make finer lines. I fell in love with Pentel EnerGel pens when I first tried them... in my opinion they are the best gel pens out there. The variety I used to buy were pretty expensive; sold in two packs and a little more stylish than these are. BUT then I found out that these are the same exact ink with same amount of smoothness, just in a different looking pen case. I actually think I prefer the simplicity of these compared to the ones I used to buy. Much cheaper than the others, especially when bought in a 12 pack like these. I had enough to share with my coworkers and they all loved them! These are definitely my go-to pens when it comes to charting (nurses notes)!!
This is a really good pen, I used to have messy handwritting but because the of the thickness of the pen it looked alot neater. The in is really dark and doesnt smudge at all. But it is a bit pricey but for the product its good.
Initially I was after the Pentel Energel BL77 Gel Pen 0.7mm in brown but it was unavailable and so I saw that the Pentel Energel X BL107 Gel Pen 0.7mm was available and decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did because the sienna-hued ink flows nicely and dries quickly too. The pen is shaped ergonomically and is lightweight as well. Perfect for a detective or doctor on an urgent job. Your notes will be jotted down and jetted across the page with this well-crafted piece of gel ink technology. I hope you love it as much as I did. FÃn.
So far, I love writing with these pens. I took a chance and purchased them in black and red to use for work. I've used Pentel Energel pens in the past and I completely forgot about them until I borrowed my coworker's Pentel Energel. I decided to get this brand figuring it would work the same and it does. Writing with these is so smooth and effortless. And I love how quickly they dry. The best part is that they don't skip when I write something on a Post-it note like other gel pens.
These pens do make a bold line, but it's not overly bold or sloppy. It's a bold rather than fat line. I bought a box of these with the 0.7mm points first, but they weren't quite as smooth as I wanted, so I followed-up with a box of the 1.0mm points. (Both blue ink, BTW, so no difference is attributable to a difference in ink formulations.) The 1.0mm pens lay down a nice smooth line, and the extra width of the point seems to allow the pen - and the user - to take full advantage of the smooth and free-flowing qualities of a gel pen. I'm left handed but don't drag my hand across the ink as I write, but I did test for smearing, and on regular paper I get no smearing.
