The Pentel Graph 1000 is a premier mechanical pencil designed for drafting professionals. Its long, slim sleeve gives it precision when running along the edge of rulers and templates and allows you a view of what you’re drawing. An all-brass three-jaw clutch mechanism provides exceptional lead support. Each click of the top-knock button extends a length of lead equal to the diameter of the lead. Specially-weighted to bring its centre of gravity close to the writing tip, the Graph 1000’s cylindrical body is comfortable to write with. The rubber-insert grip further enhances writing comfort. The Graph 1000 also features a removable metal pocket clip, a replaceable eraser under the cap, and lead grade indicator in the push-button. It is ideal for professional drafting and for sketching, drawing, and everyday writing.

At first glance this pencil appears to be a slimmer, plastic version of the metal GraphGear 1000, for around the same price. However, the addition of "for Pro" to its name suggests that it is designed for much more precise use than its heavier and chunkier metal stablemate. This is a light, quite slim pencil with a comfortable rubber finger grip. I found it a delightful pencil to use and a worthy addition to any mechanical pencil stable. My only criticism is that the lead-grade indicator in the cap (a good idea) is biased to H grade leads, with only one B label.

Quickly became my favorite pencil out of my collection of about 20!

I found this pencil somewhere and I fell in love with it. I put a foam grip over the rubber pieces and put a pirate duck pencil topper on it. I love that pencil, it has the perfect heaviness. I just wish I could get F grade 0.9mm leads. Grumble grumble.

Awesome mechanical pencil. Statler, pilot, rite in the rain, mitsubishi.....please copycat this. This mechanical pencil is awesome. In this days, we non profissional or profissional need this. Sorry my english, hope u undertand. :)
I use the 0.9mm size of the 1000 because I don't use it for technical/drafting work; the lead diameter is still rather thin for me, preferring what was the standard 1.1mm lead size of propelling pencils of yesteryear. I don't believe the entire pencil is brass though. The tip can be unscrewed and a brief look inside confirms that at least this part is brass. The pencil as a whole is too light, being hardly more heavy than a wooden pencil. If you want heft, I would suggest the Pentel GraphGear 1000, although the cheaper GraphGear 500 has better balance, rather like a dart (from the game of darts), with the weight mainly in the business end and a less fussy, non-retractable tip. I do have to admit though that the 1000 for Pro (Japanglish at it's best) is a very sleek ... MoreI use the 0.9mm size of the 1000 because I don't use it for technical/drafting work; the lead diameter is still rather thin for me, preferring what was the standard 1.1mm lead size of propelling pencils of yesteryear. I previously reviewed this pencil as having a modified rubber grip/sleeve. Upon further inspection I found that there was little if any difference between the Graph 1000 I bought previously and therefore retract that somewhat negative review.
Best mechanical pencil I have ever owned. Definitely worth the money. Comfortable, solid, mechanically sound. The lead hardness indicator could have been made stiffer, so that it would not turn inadvertently.
Best bang for buck considering overall feel design and satisfying mechanism. Great filler for all black pencil cases.
Very light pencil, fits nice in my hand although a bit too thin.
