Perello Gordal Pitted Olives Picante 150g

Perelló's Gordal Piccante olives are a cult favorite, prized for their plump size and firm, meaty texture. The name "Gordal" translates to "fat one," a nod to the generous proportions of these large, pitted olives. They are packed in a zesty brine with spicy guindilla chillies, which impart a gentle, fiery kick that perfectly balances the olive's buttery flavor. This classic Spanish snack from Seville is beloved by olive connoisseurs for its perfect combination of heat and briny goodness.

Absolute favourite olives

These aren't cheap, but they pack so much flavour that there's always 2 or 3 tins in my cupboard. Lovely on their own, but also great when used in cooking where they add a real meatiness. My absolutely favourite way of eating these is stuffing them with fresh orange and soaking them in fresh orange juice for a few hours. It's a complete faff to do. But who cares when something tastes so good?

Large, delicious, juicy olives- my absolute favourite. For those concerned about the MSG, it occurs naturally in things like tomatoes and Parmesan cheese- it isnt dangerous nor unhealthy (the studies that claimed it were dont pass scientific muster).

An essential for martini lovers

Its slightly depressing reading reviews citing MSG as a health concern. After a nonsense, tabloid-fuelled health scare in the 70s there have been numerous studies that have failed to find any negative effect in humans. It has a scary sounding name, but is in no way harmful and has been used for many decades with no side effects. Google it if youre sceptical, but MSG is like salt - it wont do any damage, especially in moderation. It also adds a bit of magical umami flavour to an already delicious foodstuff. So, back to the olives, which are absolutely the best tasting currently available from Ocado and make martinis that are as close to heaven as mortal man deserves. Bliss in a tin can.

Best Olives Ever
22 October 2024

I used to buy these in pack of 4 from Amazon but while on offer in Ocado they are cheaper. I serve these whenever we have people over, without fail they always Hmm and ahh then ask what olives they are, and where I get them from, reckon I should get shares 😩. When I go to friends houses they too serve them. Big fleshy Olives in a nice brine with a hint of green chilli.

Best olives out there
8 December 2020

I was introduced to these olives 7 years ago in Brindissa shop in Borough Market and I had completely fallen in love with them. I cant tell you how happy I am that Ocado now stock these, they are THE best olives I have ever had. They are large, juicy, firm and quite meaty, with just right amount of spice. The olives taste different to what you would get in your usual jar of olives, but thats is what makes them so unique, they are so lush to eat. Once the tin is opened, the whole thing goes in minutes. All family, including my 5 and 7 year old, agree that they are the best and definitely worth the money. We love to serve them as an appetitive drizzled with Arbequina olive oil.

Peculiar taste

Beautiful big pitted green queen olives. I mean, perfect. Except, someone added MSG to them and listed the ingredient as its E number reference. It gives a very peculiar and almost sweet taste. Didn't notice any chilli/spice. wouldn't buy again.

Best olives I've ever experienced. Have introduced them to many friends. The Brine is amazing in a Vodka Martini Dirty. The pickled chilli 🌶 at the bottom is divine. Not to severe.

best olives ever!

My friend turned me into these olives and Ive never looked back! Even my husband who dislikes olives loves these! Best fresh out of the can so the skins are crisp and the chilly gives them a refreshing kick! Perfect with a Martini!

These are truly delicious but are very expensive. Only an occasional treat with Fragata Anchovy stuffed being my everyday ones.
