This is good stuff - stinks just like Aviation Form a Gasket but is easier to apply and works very well. Have lots of hand cleaner available or use gloves, this product is sticky.

Do yourself a favour and pay the extra for a quality blue RTV sealant and save yourself the pain of having to do the job twice. Took a week to cure and then leaked profusely. When I did pull down the sump to reseal I found that the sealant had turned hard and had crumbled into pieces. Any sealant that had extruded into the sump area had broken off and was in pieces stuck to the screen of my oil pickup. Resealed the sump with a quality JB Weld branded blue RTV silicone sealant tacked off in one hour, filled with oil and no leaks.

I used this on my Chainsaw to fix a leaking gasket on the cabborator. The existing casket was torn. Needless to say it got me out of trouble until the new gasket arrived. Although I think I won't need the new one as this worked like charm.

Having bought a farm to retired to, I have to do my own repairs. My mower had a valve cover gasket leak. So I purchased this as I’ve used it when I used to rebuild engines, and a new gasket. The smell brought back memories. Remove the cover and clean thoroughly including the vent, clean the head surface as well. Apply a light coating to your valve cover, place the gasket onto the cover. Then apply a thin coat to the head gasket surface and reinstall the cover. Great stuff.
I bought this thinking it was the kind that “hardened” to a flexible “rubber-like” solid but this is not that product. Still, I used it because I was desperate and am glad I did. I used it to seal some places on some headlights I bought. First pair leaked BAD. Sealed the replacement pair they sent and since then, no leaks!
The product description leads you to believe that Permatex #2 is resistant to gasoline with ethanol in it but in my own experience, it is not. I used this as a gasket dressing on my tractor's carburetor float bowl. It sealed for a few hours but then started leaking. It is pretty clear to me that the gasoline or ethanol was attacking the Permatex #2.
I did the research on the Permatex website to find the exact product for reassembling a complete engine tear-down. This is what you’d want to use prior to replacing oil pan gaskets where service manual calls for this type of product. I also used a very thin layer in between the oil pump after having to resurface it. Good stuff.
Permatex has a long line of products for specific needs. This product was much easier to work with than other products. It lays down well, has a longer set time(more time to work with it) and by remaining flexible it forms a long lasting seal. I always look for Permatex products at AutoZone when doing Automotive repairs.
It really made it easy to seal a scratched aluminum surface. I had sealed the main crankcase for my motorcycle engine, and then decided not to seal the left or right sides of the case covers. Low an behold I had oil dripping down the side of the case, but not from the middle where I used Form-A-Gasket Sealant.
The sealer works like a paper gasket if there are inperfections on the old pump or the surface area is not clean the gasket will not hold.Be sure to have a well matched surface befor you apply this product. its not a glue or fillerThe seal remains flexible thus it won't crack from extreme cold or over heating
