In this classic, Jane Austen tells the story of the improbably perfect Anne, whose mother died young and whose family is full of vanity, shallowness and folly. Yet somehow Anne grows up with the real desire to do right and to be kind, and unfortunately to be guided by a supposedly wise and loving friend, even when this advice ruins a beautiful relationship that would have made Anne the happy woman that many believe she can never now be. Enter once again Captain Wentworth, and Anne finds that the persuasion not to marry him due to his lack of money and prospects, had been a wrong idea to listen to. A colourful but slightly caricaturish cast of family and friends surround the courtship dance of these two mainly in Bath and Lyme Regis as they re-meet coldly, are forced ... MoreIn this classic, Jane Austen tells the story of the improbably perfect Anne, whose mother died young and whose family is full of vanity, shallowness and folly. In the unabridged version there is so much more to the story, small details about life in that period.Even the characters have a very slightly added aspect to their image.

I ordered the whole Chiltern collection of Jane's novels. The size is very handy, the books are a little heavy, but it enables one to handle them conveniently. The covers are really beautiful and the binding of the books enables them to open quite nicely. I'm very happy to re-read the six novels in this new edition, instead of my old paperbacks, all different in shape and size. The only reservation I have is that the paper is a bit shiny and reflects light.

Another beautiful book by world cloud classics. Love their leather feel soft covers with the embossed quotes. Well worthy of Jane Austen's books. I highly recommend for any classic book collector.
The metallic finish to the cover is more striking in person than in the photos. The book is stitched together & not glued. The pages are sturdy with a smooth finish & gold edging. The only way to improve this edition would be by adding illustrations.
I love these editions! I actually bought the Pride and Prejudice hardback when visiting the center in March because I collect P&P books, and I loved the ease of reading it so much I bought the same hardbacks for Persuasion and Sense & Sensibility. I would recommend the novels themselves to anyone, as well as these editions!
I have purchased all of these Hardback Luxury editions of Jane Austen's novels. They are truly beautiful. Service was great! The staff are very nice people to deal with. Great customer service.
I've enjoyed Jane Austen's classic PERSUASION for many years. I purchased this edition because of the beautiful cover. The inside story is the same as any other edition, but the Word Cloud Classics series has the prettiest and most charming covers that look lovely on any bookshelf. The cover is a bold blue, with a pastel pink title script. (The photo provided for the product does not quite match the true color). The end papers are pretty, and patterned with a bold floral print.I think the text size is fine, but some readers may find it a bit too small.
This book is so pretty! But, although I’m only a few pages in there have already been massive typos- like multiple words printed together without a space between them.
The story itself is wonderful -- this is my favorite novel of all time. (Hard to get into at first, but well worth the effort!) And this particular edition is my favorite as well -- I have several editions of Persuasion, but this is thin and fits perfectly in my hands when reading it. The version of the book that I received was in very good condition.
Persuasion is a regency Cinderella-esque tale of a young woman, the beautiful Anne Elliot, who is persuaded from marrying the Naval officer of her heart. It is now almost nine years since she rejected him. Bonaparte has abdicated and England's sailors return home covered in glory. Fredrick Wentworth is now a rich and highly eligible sea captain and the two are curiously thrown together. Will their forgotten affection blossom anew? Or has the captain found another?
