I was perusing here in search of deals and randomly saw this Croll. The item description is a little confusing and if not read fully, you may end up getting this item that is in fact a CROLL S (8-11).I have a Croll S, and it is great for caving, though it can have trouble feeding dirty or swollen rope. Just want to make sure people know this listing is for a Croll S.

I have only been climbing SRT for about 4 months and purchasing the croll was a game changer. With just the croll, a loop runner, and an old bungee cord I was able to build a more effective modular ascent system than i had been originally using. I use it with the arrowfrog rope and have had no problems. Not only has my productivity increased at the job site, but I also enjoy climbing that much more when I get to the top of the tree using just a fraction of the effort i once used to get there.

I got this for my caving vertical kit and it works great on the pit ropes I use. The large size still does well even if the rope is muddy at all.

This is the perfect lightweight safety equipment for climbing, it is small size, lightweight and easy to carry. Great tool with multiple uses.
Really cool device perfect for a self belay. It has applications in both Mountaineering and canyoneering as well any type activity using ropes. But basically is a pocket sized ascender and isnt totally necessary. Its job can easily be done by well placed prusik. That being said the petzel croll is a far quicker option and much easier to manage.
I like the croll S for running canyons. Its compact and does not get in the way when I am going through tight slots or awkward crawls but still solid and move up the rope with ease! If looking to use fat or muddy or fat muddy ropes get the croll L!!
The Petzl Croll Ascender is one of the most solid chest ascenders in the market. Good for any climbing of ropes and it works great for caving! Works great with the petzl superavanti and petzl torse(if you want you keep it upright real easily). I really recommend this product to anyone who may have the slightest thought that they need it! Petzl is a solid brand and I will continue to buy from them until dead do us part (btw this brand isn't going anywhere soon. lol)
As stated, this little guy grabs the rope no issue, getting it undone after however, is another story. But it's just fine for my needs.
