I bought this to use for horizontal caving, and it's been great so far. I love the adjustability, it fits very comfortably over the bandana that I use to cover my hair. I really like that this one isn't vented, keeps my head dry and warm.

Price for this product is relatively cheap, and it comes in many different colors to standardize field positions.Using ear muffs, we integrate Sena 30k systems allowing for easier communication between crew members.I’d say this is one of the best deals when looking for Class E rated products.

I bought this for tree work but also wear it on commercial construction jobs because more GC’s in our area are requiring hard hats with chin straps. It a comfortable, light helmet. The buckle feels a little flimsy but so far it’s held up fine.
I’m not going to put it down, I will just say that it’s not for me, I felt like it didn’t cover the back of my head, it’s like shoes, you have to wear them to know how they fit.
I’ve had a Petzl Ecrin Roc for about 15 years and just replaced it with the Vertex. Right out the fitting was pretty straight forward. I added an integrated mesh face shield and Peltor ear pro which I really wished I could have had on my old helmet. I just got done with a large removal and everything worked perfectly, very intuitive, and natural. A great addition to my kit.
This helmet is supposed to fit a wide range of head size. I have a small dome, and although the suspension band adjusted just fine, the chin straps don't have enough points of adjustment. In my case, the plastic hardware at the intersection between the side straps and the chin strap either dug into my jaw, or caused the chin strap to choke me out.Anyway the quality seemed alright for a relatively inexpensive helmet, and it looks pretty good, but I decided it's not for me.
The integrated temple cinch mounts personally make this helmet far more comfortable than most others as it eliminates the rear pressure point. Makes a 10+hr day painless.
We have been using Petzal for all of our crews for 8 years now. We are completely satisfied.
The helmet itself is great. The fit and the suspension are great. The price was right too but I did not realize that this particular model does not allow for a Sena communication system to be installed on it. The brim of the helmet flares out to broadly to mount com system. All good, it’s now my ornamental/ apple tree helmet. No wires needed when poking through tight work zones.
