It fits a large man, and it fits a small woman. It's very comfortable and very easy to adjust, and accessories can be changed very quickly to adapt to various jobs. In 30 seconds I clip my two Stihl earmuffs on it, and it's chainsaw ready. In 5 seconds, I clip my Pixa lamp on it, and it becomes caving ready. I bump my head nearly everytime I go caving, and unlike the lightest climbing helmets, this proper hardshell helmet is designed with the necessary durability in mind. A very practical all-rounder.

Light weight, great features, high quality! On the ground, losing your hard hat is nuisance, but at 200 feet, it's dangerous! Someone could be struck by the hat itself, and now you don't have any head protection, one bump on the head and you risk falling. You are now a safety violation which could get you fired, or as a contractor, you and company cold lose a valuable client. I work for an environmental testing (Stack Testing) company. It was too windy on a 100 foot stack that day, but we pressed on. At the 50 foot platform the wind took the bosses hard hat off for the third time that day, this time blowing it 120 feet from the stack, landing in the water on the edge of a drainage ditch. When he got top side, he was really admiring my Petzl helmet securely strapped ... MoreLight weight, great features, high quality! Very nice helmet. It has lots of attachment points if you want to attach accessories, such as earmuffs. I've had mine for about three years, and bought some for the guys as well. I clean my helmet in the sink with warm water and dish soap, which does a nice job getting sweat off the chin strap. For some reason, it seems to take some of the color out of the plastic. Maybe that is partly due to its age and the UV rays we deal with here in the South West. I'll be getting more of these helmets.

More features than the older version
16 July 2020

I’ve owned a previous version of this helmet for 10 years as my main climbing helmet, but recently, decided to purchase a face shield for those times when I’m working more on the ground, feeding a chipper, etc. When i received the face shield, i quickly noticed that my older Vertex Vent didn’t have the connection points to seat the face shield, so I ordered a new helmet. The older helmet sat comfortably on my head and has protected my bean for 10 years. The new one is even more comfortable, has an improved inner strap mechanism for a better fit and still allows me to install my old hearing protection and the new face shield. The old one will remain a good rec climbing helmet, but this new one is perfect for my “autumn years” of tree work. Solid and dependable.

This helmet is an improvement
23 December 2023

This helmet is an improvement over old school models and reasonably priced. Hearing protection remains a problem because Petzl doesn't make them. If you buy Peltors, they don't lock down for a good deal. My best fit was to swap in Husqvarna ear muffs.

[Rewarded Review] Great helmet, great company!!
14 October 2021

I bought the Petzl Vertex helmet about three weeks ago to replace my old Petzl helmet. I’ve never been wrong buying Petzl equipment. They’re tried and tested. In addition the new helmet clip system allows you to add earmuffs, visors and a name plate so your buddies won’t walk off with your new helmet. The helmet was a special order and Moosejaw really stepped up to get it to me as quickly as they could. I’ve purchased through Moosejaw before and have always received the same attention and service. Thanks guys and gals!!

[Rewarded Review] New replacement helmet for lost/stolen one!
25 October 2023

I have had this same helmet for a while to use in a volunteer position. I was traveling (late...ugh) and left helmet in a bag on top of my car at airport parking. I filed a L and F claim for a honest person hope? Nope! Going to miss the memories of that helmet. Enjoy the vents! New memories to come on my next volunteer event.

[Rewarded Review] Really happy for use as worksite head protection
17 December 2022

I bought this to try as a replacement for a non vented vertex helmet. The non vented would get so hot that I had to buy a skull cap to soak up all the sweat. Working indoors, in ceilings, can get quite hot and sticky. The venting helps a ton, still wear the cap, but having some way for the heat to get out is a real plus. It’s not the lightest helmet in the world, but my usecase is not weight dependent, that said, it is comfortable enough for all day wear and if you are working outside in the rain, the closed vents provide adequate water protection.

i love this helmet
6 August 2021

i had a dead branch fall within 2-3 feet of me twice and decided better safe than sorry and ordered this helmet and also chainsaw chaps. This helmet with the attached 3M hearing protection is pretty comfy. It keeps the sweat out of my eyes better than anything I have used i think might be cooler than just heating protection somehow. I had to get the larger neck strap (free by contacting petzle) . I haven't had my skull crushed by a branch yet and I think this was much cheaper should a branch ever decide to reach out and try to crush my skull. it is nearly as comfy as no protection. I have a long beard too and the strap fits well behind it it. i probably should have bought this years ago. it is extremely comfortable. I cant imagine the ones that cost three times more ... Morei had a dead branch fall within 2-3 feet of me twice and decided better safe than sorry and ordered this helmet and also chainsaw chaps.
