We absolutely love this Phillips Sonicare 5100 Toothbrush.Having said that we received it November 6, 2023 and it died June 15, 2024. so it lasted 7 months. I also bought a box of each of the 3 suggested toothbrush "heads".It was the absolute best toothbrush we had ever used especially on the whitening choice.i will probably buy the same model because we really did like the way that model functions.I wanted to give it a 1 star, but I just couldn't. I tried giving it 5 stars, but that didn't feel right either. 5 stars for a $100 toothbrush that dies at 7 months...that wasn't right either. SO..., I wound up giving it a 3, but darn it, we love using that Phillips Sonicare Toothbrush!

It's my favorite sonicare toothbrush, and when my other one broke I knew I'd get the same one. I really love the three different settings too. I used the gum care When I was having issues with my gums and it was sensitive enough that it helped me get my comes into a better shape. Now. I mainly use the whiten setting as it gives you 2 minutes to brush your teeth as well as an extra minute at the end to basically shine the front of your teeth before you are done brushing. Another perk is that once the toothbrush feels that it's been picked up, the indicator lights will come on letting you know which setting you're on and the battery status as well as if your toothbrush head needs to be replaced. Honestly, I also really love the toothbrush head replacement light ... MoreIt's my favorite sonicare toothbrush, and when my other one broke I knew I'd get the same one. Our family has made the switch from manual to electric toothbrushes, most is which were Philips. I was using a Boka electric toothbrush, which worked fine. However, the battery died and I misplaced the charger (hello multiple moves). I decided I couldn’t live without an electric toothbrush and jumped on the Philips bandwagon. Let me just say, it is quite different from my Boka! The Philips seems to have a significant advantage when it comes to power. Plus, there are so many options available for head replacement. If you’re on the fence, jump!

Excellent functionality and design of device

I love the number of oscillations because I have have other similar products with less. My tendency was to press against my teeth and gums. Like an utrasound cleaner, those oscillations remind you to let the tool do the work. Plus the variability of 3 speeds for different functionality gums, clean or white is icing on the cake. I like that the space where the replacement head meets the body of the device is more open so residue from brusing doesnt accumulate in a small crevice. Again a previous device had this downside of residue buildup in that interface region. Therefore the overall design complements its functionality in terms of cleaning maintenance as well. Despite its sticker shock the ease of use justifies the price point and minimizes misuse if one isnt ... MoreI love the number of oscillations because I have have other similar products with less. Gum recession and blunt trauma to the gums is easily acvomplished with a lesser product due to the lower oscillations per second in my personal experience given my tendencies.

Excellent product for very clean teeth

The Sonicare toothbrush line was recommended to me by my dental hygienist many years ago. I and my family have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for over ten years for this reason. The difference between a Sonicare and a manual toothbrush is completely amazing. Our dental health has been improved dramatically in my opinion. This 5100 model works really well, leaving teeth smooth and clean. I selected this model because it has a gum health mode to improve gum condition. I have purchased the Sonicare 4000 series, and it does not clean teeth as well as this 5100 model. To me, the 5100 is definitely worth the extra cost. I have also purchased 9000 series Sonicare toothbrushes, and I do not personally sense any improvement over the 5100. I now have three 5100 toothbrushes for family members in my home. I use the Sonicare C3 brush head for excellent plaque removal. My husband uses the G2 brush head for gum care. The battery life is excellent. I give my very highest recommendation for this Sonicare 5100. I truly consider it an essential product that I would not want to live without.

Expensive but worth it!
2 May 2024

It has become difficult to find new brush heads for my old Philips sonic tooth brush that I've been using for over eight years-- and loved. My dentist told me that it was time for me to update as I was experiencing issues with my gums. I splurged and paid $100 for this new Philips model. Wow! It's three got different setting: clean, white, and gums, and has pressure control warnings if you brush too hard. The time amount to use it varies from setting to setting. I've had it for about a week now and the change in my teeth and gums is already notable. The price for replacement heads is a bit scary (this model only comes with one), but other than that, I'm glad I took the plunge and bought the brush.

Great product but...
4 May 2024

I've used many Philips Sonicare products products in the past. The 5100 was very powerful and my teeth have never felt so clean. Having said that, the head unit became very loose after 11 months of use. I'll be receiving a warranty replacement. This seems to be a common point of failure where a screw becomes loose on the head unit. I have had this occur on older Sonicare units after 3 years. It's an easy fix shown on several YouTube videos. Perhaps this is a design flaw or quality control issue, but it's an issue for many Sonicare models. A drop of blue loctite solves the issue. This video shows the procedure for out of warranty units (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU2CdPEFwU4)

Hello, I've always bought Braun electric tooth brushes and recently another one I've owned for 3 years stopped working. This time I read some reviews on the best electric tooth brush to buy and the most were saying Phillips are the business now. So I dialled up Get a Cut online and found a great deal on a Phillips electric tooth brush , 2 days later it showed up in my box. Well it's absolutely amazing, works so much better than the old Braun did. I'm extremely pleased with this model Phillips and the service from Get a Cut was exemplary. The model I bought was this one. Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 5100 HX6851/56 at just a whisker over $200.Thankyou so much Get a Cut, fantastic service from you, I will shop with you again. Many thanksDave Threadgill.

Target's Quality Control is severely lacking

After attempting to purchase this toothbrush twice in person at 2 different stores, with both times the toothbrush being out of stock, I settled for online ordering with delivery to my residence. The package arrived with the outer box secured/unopened; but either the toothbrush was literally stolen out of the packaging before Target placed it in the mail or someone returned this order and Target haphazardly sent it out to another customer after receiving the return. No toothbrush in the package but the charger is here. Target clearly did not check the order for this issue to ensure it was safe or correct. There is no way a mistake like this could be made if Target had checked or was diligent in processing returns and/or new purchases of what I believe was a ... MoreAfter attempting to purchase this toothbrush twice in person at 2 different stores, with both times the toothbrush being out of stock, I settled for online ordering with delivery to my residence. The product works well, . . . but
29 February 2024

I have used Philips Sonicare toothbrushes for years. So much so, that I cannot see myself EVER going back to a regular toothbrush. I have always purchased a white base toothbrush. This time, however, I purchased a black one. Unfortunately, after less than a month of use, there is some white showing around the controls. It is a tad annoying. Also, I dropped the black case once and the plastic in the case broke. It has never happened with the white case I have. Hence, the Good rating and not excellent.
