A quiet, easy-to-use haircut shaver.

The product does exactly what what I expected. It's like, runs well on a single charge, cuts hair quickly and easily without pain. It is quiet, my previous corded shaver was also very good, but also needed regular oiling. I never needed to change/replace the blades if I did this properly. Time will tell whether this shaver, with supposedly almost zero, (except for cleaning hair for maintenance) self-sharpening blades, without using oiling will last as long. After only one usage, at the moment it seems very good and of good quality.

A basic hair cutter to shave my hair to the scalp. No styling, no multiple accessories like combs, scissors etc, no messing around and no nonsense. That's it.I have been cutting my hair this way for a very long time.I had tried Wahl first. Their hair cutter lasted long enough ~ 5+ years for low use of 1 cut every 3-4 weeks. Then, Remington twice. Their hair clippers lasted shorter than Wahl's and each hair cutter even shorter than the previous one!So, I looked elsewhere including Wahl, again. But still did not find anything Wahl that satisfactorily met my basic needs, though their prices are OK.Hence, why I considered Philips hair cutters for the first time.Choosing/identifying and selecting from their huge selection of hair cutters is nightmare! No COMPARISON Table/Chart or COMPARE option to compare and contrast Philip hair clippers, even within the same product line or series. For instance, the 5000 Series 'Hair Clipper' alone; HC5630/13, HC5630/15, HC5632/13, HC5632/15... Same for 3000 Series, 7000, earlier models... That is just for hair clippers only. No other 'personal care' products.Hence, why I explicitly included the exact model name/number in the review headline and description for several times.Because it's also not easy to find or choose on Amazon, either :-(In addition, Philips website Support is next to nothing.First, ineffective PhilipsBot is all you get. Then it chucks you out after a couple of minutes of guessing around... instead of a real person to chat with, online form to fill in, email address to contact customer service for support etc...Anyway, let's go through some of the marketing 'features' claim of Philips Hairclipper Series 5000, model: HC5630/13 (for the UK market).- Fast, even haircut: It definitely performed better than my old Wahl and Remington x2 hair cutters. It cut better. It's quieter too.- Cut hair flows away for 2 x faster* clipping/DualCut technology: Not sure. But I did not often have to do multiple passes to cut the same area.- Maximum precision with double blades: I noticed some efficiency compared to old models.- Adjusts to different length settings / 28 lock-in length settings: I did not bother. Just used the bare clipper to cut my hair to the scalp. Used it for head hair, beard/moustache, armpits, down to pubic hair. Every hair.- Hassle-free cleaning / 100% washable**: Absolutely easy to clean. But did not wash the clipper nor the blade (I don't trust all that 'washable'** in small print! In case, something gets rust, short-circuit etc somewhere based on bad experience in the past).- Extra power when you need it / Turbo mode: I did not try the booster, aka 'Turbo' T, option. Did not have to; the standard/default cutting was enough.- Ergonomic design for comfort and control / Comfortable grip: It helps holding but also feels small and prone to slip! So, be careful, especially when switching holding position or hands.- Get a perfect but protective trim: Yes, you get good cut. But blade width feels narrow compared to big old models.- Trim-n-Flow pro Technology: Do not bother. Just slightly oil your hair (with some light oil. I had Johnson's baby oil lying around, so used that) then comb hair before starting to cut. Just like the barber does (for a reason). That's all.- Corded or cordless: Model HC5630/13 is the corded with a 3-pin UK for UK mains. (But I have to run a power lead extension cable from another room!). Perhaps, choose the 2-pin UK version if your bathroom has the correct shaver charging socket :-)Zero maintenance: Some truth in there. Did not have to oil anything. Just use, then clean and store.Self-sharpening blades: I don't know. It certainly was sharp enough to cut my hair smoothly.Other Points:- Safe rounded blade tips...: If the blade tips touch your skin, they still cut and make it bleed!-- Also, the hair clipper makes a power buzz. Not sure what frequency it runs at but it's probably very high.-- If the power lead rubs or rests on your bald head while shaving, it makes sensational feeling on that spot/area on your head, as if on fire! So don't let the clipper lead rub agianst (ideally) or rest on your shaven head more than a couple of seconds! Way too much power buzzing that can make your head dizzy. I don't know if it was just me. Or this is an issue that will affect others.Apart from that the hair clipper cuts and performs as intended.-- As mentioned, I have not used any of the combs accessories; 16-28mm for long hair, 3-15mm for short hair and 2mm for beard/head grooming. No scissors. But a little hair brush and small pouch to carry the thing. So, Philips Hairclipper Series 5000, model: HC5630/13, loses 1 point for price and another 0.5-1 point/s for other little things like no 2-pin shower plug, 'features' claim, buzzing and so on.But I will be very generous (till something else popps up) to rate it at 4/5 stars.CONTENTS:HC5630/13 Hair clipper x1.3-pin UK charger for HC5630/13 x1.Hair combs x3 (please, see above and image).Small hair brush x1.Small pouch x1A6-sized user manual ~ 5-6 picture pages.Multilanguage leaflet x1.…Please, see image attached (and product pictures). If you just want to cut yout hair, this is the hair clipper for your.I have done the hard work of searching, so you don't have to.In short, I will recommend Philips HC5630/13 over any other brand and model I have ever used or considered buying it.Thanks for reading and Good Luck with finding your perfect hair cutter :-)

The set before this one had a 2 ml setting even 1.8 etc. Didn’t realise this has just lowest setting of 3 ml. It’s easy to set up and sharp but this one does not collect hair like the last one either. It will do for mow but will be putting another one on my husbands Christmas list and have this as a spare. The nose clipper is nice but the nozzle is too big to get in the ears and I have to get the old one out as well. For the money it’s a nice set.

Excellent Philips Standard
20 March 2023

I've had this trimmer a while now, and found it to be excellent. Brilliant long lasting and powerful battery. Finely adjustable trimmer suitable for trimming any length of hair, and the usual great Philips quality. My only caviat to the above recommendation, is that the trimmer comes with basic instructions, with more detailed instructions only available online. I mention this as, like most men, I rarely read instructions, and initially assumed the smallest comb was for the shortest trim. That was true, but not in the way I thought. Using the smallest comb cut my hair really short, and no amount of turning the wheel on the trimmer had any effect on the comb. This knowledge was too late for me, and and by the time I had read the instructions I was already bald from the .5mm cut. Now my hair has re-grown to a reasonable length, the trimmer is fine.

Great shaver, but battery sucks
15 March 2024

This is my second shaver of this model. The first one worked for 4 months, then the battery died. Philips replaced it on the warranty 2 months ago, but I hear that this battery is deteriorating also. I had a very old Philips shaver for 5 years, which worked great before the battery died. But 5 years is understandable. 2-4 months is really not.

Outstanding Hair Clipper
26 July 2024

I bought this hair clipper for myself and I'm very satisfied with it. Haircuts have become an enjoyable process and now take much less time compared to using a cheap clipper. The clipper comes with three attachments, and the length of the attachments can be adjusted, allowing for a variety of haircuts. The battery holds a charge for a long time, which is a big plus. Overall, everything is great, and I haven't encountered any drawbacks yet.I recommend this clipper to those who value their time and comfort during haircuts. šŸ‘

Which is perfect for my disabled father who can not sit for very long. The trimmers glided through his hair andIt took a lot less time to cut and style his hair than previously before. The blades glide effortlessly and do not snag or dig in the scalp, with him stating that it ā€œdidn’t feel like I was cutting his hair at allā€. Which is also a great feature for kids who hate having there hair cut. There is no need to oil or to treat the blades, which I had to do on my previous clippers. Which gives the Philips hairclipper series 5000 washable hair clipper a much more versatile and advantage to other clippers about, making them a lot more easier to maintain.Especially when it comes to cleaning them. Running the blades under a tap to get rid of all the fine hair that seemed impossible to get rid of in the past, was weird at first, but now I wouldn’t have it any other way.It feels and looks like you are using a brand new clipper each time you trim your hair, as washing the blades in water allows for a easier clean process to hair cutting.Convert! You will not be disappointed. Not only for the quiet, easy and cordless free trimming that lasts up to 90 minutes. The cleaning process will save you time and money.

Once I checked everything was complete, I dis-guarded the packaging as it comes with a handy pouch that everything fits into. To charge you simply plug the cable in to the base of the clippers and into the socket. You will notice a green light flashing to let you know it is charging correctly. After around an hour, the light stopped flashing to show they are fully charged and ready to go!Before starting i took another look at all of the different pieces and searched for the instructions. These are a small booklet with pictures showing you what to do. I found that these did not give me all of the answers I wished to know so this did make the initial process slower. The clippers are quite smart looking with that modern touch to them. The on / off button is very easy to press and I found holding the clippers very comfortable. Being extremely lightweight was also a huge bonus to these, both for using and for travel. I actually tried out each of the combs, starting with the long hair one but ended up needing the shorter comb. These are so easy to change over by gently pulling out the comb from the clippers and slotting in the desired one you want. The zoom wheel where you select the length is in a perfect place for you to use. You can turn this with your thumb and I like the fact that you can help to control the wheel from the back also with your finger, making it really easy to turn. Also I noticed that these were not that loud when in use so I could still listen to my music at the same time!I certainly got to try out all of the features as my hair is quite thick so on went the turbo mode which sped things up a fair bit. These clippers are quite powerful so do make sure you have the correct setting on as they do not take long at all to give you a fast and even hair cut which I was very pleased with!I have a few days a stubble which I like to keep trimmed and as this set comes with a 2 mm comb for stubble / beards, I gave this a go! Again, so easy to change over the combs and soon I was looking smart with my nicely trimmed even stubble and hair cut. I had no issues with pulling hair or catching my skin throughout all of this and the blades did not clog once!Loving the way you can just take all of the pieces and run them under a tap for cleaning! When I first took off the main base of the clippers I found there was a fair amount of hair in there which easily came out when rinsed. I let this all dry and attempted to put the silver base back on but found this really fiddly the first time with one side clipping in but not the other. The next time I tried this I had no issues at all so maybe I was doing it incorrectly, I'm not sure. These seem quite robust so I think they will last me quite a while, especially as they are self sharpening so no blunt blades. All in all, I thoroughly recommend these to anyone who likes to trim their own hair or beard themselves as it is so easy to use and to keep up the maintenance on them.

[Rewarded Review] excellent clippers for beard/hair/chest hair 5*
27 June 2019

here is my review of the Philips Series 5000 Hair Clipper which it says its designed to be more durable, it’s built to last and aims to save time with it’s use compared to other brands/products, so I put it to the test. The cutting element, is made from titanium blades and adjustable beard and hair combs which means they are designed to give you a fast, sharp cut, time after time – plus they are made to last and from my use via my beard/chest/hair I can confirm they are much quicker than my old clippers! It’s also great to have the option of being corded or not-I had no problem with charge length-managed to do beard/chest and hair and still had ā€˜juice left in the tank’.I liked the length setting on the Philips Series 5000 Hair Clipper-easy to use/change to suit ...Ā Morehere is my review of the Philips Series 5000 Hair Clipper which it says its designed to be more durable, it’s built to last and aims to save time with it’s use compared to other brands/products, so I put it to the test. The cutting element, is made from titanium blades and adjustable beard and hair combs which means they are designed to give you a fast, sharp cut, time after time – plus they are made to last and from my use via my beard/chest/hair I can confirm they are much quicker than my old clippers! Combs are super easy to clean under the tap. When I found my last set of clippers I managed to get one which doesn’t ā€˜anger’ my skin on my face-these clippers have been designed to work with your face/hair because they have rounded combs and blade tips which move smoothly over the skin so it’s a better experience with less irritation.Overall it has exceeded my expectation I have been using my old clippers for year-old faithful, know what you’re getting and was dubious of trying something new and whether it would live up to its claim-surprisingly they did and would highly recommend giving them a go! No adverse effects super easy to use, does what it says on the box!

excellent clippers

These clippers are light weight and easy to use, the cutting length is easy to set without changing the cutting head. because they are rechargeable the lead does not interfere when I am using these clippers.I have had a similar iteration of these clippers from Philips, which lasted more than ten years and that is why I bought these. These clippers are light weight and easy to use, the cutting length is easy to set without changing the cutting head. because they are rechargeable the lead does not interfere when I am using these clippers.I have had a similar iteration of these clippers from Philips, which lasted more than ten years and that is why I bought these.
