Best iron ever had except for a few niggles. Can’t wrap cord around the iron. Need to switch it on, then off and then back on again for it to work- had a replacement as I thought it was faulty but that did the same! Something I can live with as the iron is brilliant. Can go from ironing jeans etc to delicates such as silk without having to wait for the iron to cool. Adjusts the temperature on its own- amazing. Would have given a 5* for the performance, it’s just the 2 niggles that let it down. Despite this, would highly recommend

I would give no stars if possible.I have tried to return this iron this evening in to store. I have been trying to persevere with it not reaching temperature and spitting brown dirty water over my clean clothes as I only brought it the end of December and don't iron an awful lot. As you can see from my photo how clean it is. I only use ironing water and empty after using. But today after having a larger pile after holiday and work shirts, I was ironing and the whole of the handle became loose and kept clicking the non steam button on to steam which is where it spits all the water out.I have been told in store that it needs to be sent away to Phillips as they have a debit agreement with them to try and repair. I do not want to spend more money on a new iron ( especially from the same store ) if they are expecting my iron to be replaced!!I see from other reviews that there seem to be a lot of similarities with the issues.I am very disappointed with John Lewis. It seems other people have had exchanges and refunds on this iron but mine has been sent away for 28 days.

This is a fantastic iron. I have an older Philips Azur iron that was much more expensive. The manual temperature control was always a pain as I was forever knocking the dial with my finger. Furthermore, the dial frequently leaked water. With this new version of the Azur, the temperature is regulated automatically. I was highly sceptical, but it turns out that it works brilliantly. I have used the iron with a variety of garments, from delicate to heavy fabric and the results have been perfect each time. There are a couple of items that could be improved. No water jug is provided with the iron which could be problematic for some. Also, previous models have included a cable tidy to clip to the ironing board whereas this iron does not. Both of these would be welcome ... MoreThis is a fantastic iron. I have an older Philips Azur iron that was much more expensive. At first, I checked the price of this product and I thought I would not buy it with such a price. Now, I think that is a good investment on the long term.I already own another Philips iron that has lasted over 10 years and it still works. The product has features that I'd never expected for an iron. It can iron on vertical or horizontal position, it has a limescale collector which enlarges the life of the product and doesn't force you to use distilled water in order to keep the good working of the item.Probably my favourite thing of it is the fact that it doesn't have settings, so you don't have to worry anymore about what type of cloth are you ironing nor wait for it to heat up or adjust the temperature. It does automatically and also it has a very powerful steam. My other favourite feature is that it switches off if not in use and if it's left over a cloth it'll switch off so fast that the cloth is secure underneath. Also it will switch on again once you start moving it again. How intelligent! The engineers of this product did really well. The one downside in my opinion is that the cord length is a bit short. Other than that, is a terrific product.
I was very sceptical purchasing this iron as I couldn't work out how it would be able to never burn anything and would know exactly what temperature to use. It only warms up to a fairly low heat and if you don't turn on the steam button you have a cool iron, but as soon as the steam starts - wow it works brilliantly. I am very impressed having had several Philips irons over my time. It has a very visible water tank that is easy to see when it needs topping up, a nice long flex (2.5 meters) and a calc tank to remove built up calc. Using London tap water this should prove helpful. It seems to be a little heavier than my last Azur series but it glides so perfectly that this doesn't seem to matter. I can really recommend.
I've had Phillips irons for 20 years and I have never had one like this! Unless you are someone who habitually burn things the auto heat is infuriating as it doesn't get hot enough to iron items like cotton pillowcases. But the most annoying thing is no ability to wind the cord around the base. Who thought that was a great idea?? Someone who clearly never irons. My iron not only is faulty as it heats intermittently (I can hold my hand on the plate) and hisses (not in a normal way) and will be going back to John Lewis asap but is that worst design I have ever come across. And it doesn't come with a water filler. Luckily I hadn't thrown my old one away
Where do I start, this iron has changed ironing for me forever. With all the different materials and I had to constantly check the temperature and test and resulted in few burned clothes. Azur 8000 is unbelievable smart iron, there is no temperature control it does it for you wow! Even if you leave the iron on the cloth regardless or material it don't burn. Usage is simple even a child can do it, fill water (designed to be able to fill under the tap directly), then plug in the power, then select steam / no steam, then wait 2 mins and then iron away. It has also cut my ironing time by half. I highly recommend getting one it's life changing.
Firstly, the iron is beautiful, love the navy and copper colours. Secondly, it is so easy to use, there’s no need to try to work out what setting for what material, it just knows! Magic. It’s easier to pour water in than the irons I have previously used, I used cooled down water from my kettle as I live in a hard water area, although there’s a special calc removal function on this iron! Amazing! Still I will use the kettle water just in case rather than tap water. The steam function works well, and it glides nicely on the clothing.I like that you can wrap the cord around the bottom for easy storage (once cooled down of course!), and the cord is long!
* I was sent this iron to test by Philips, as part of a product testing process. This is my honest review including genuine observations so far, after using this iron for a few weeks.I am a busy dad of two, working full time and I am the 'chief ironer' in my household, usually doing large loads in bulk when the ironing pile dictates.Overall, this iron is a good product - it looks nice, it is sturdy, robust, comfortable to hold and easy to use. Philips is also a reputable and strong brand.I usually like to activate steam on other irons I have used previously rather than ironing dry, so i like that this iron is either 'steam on' or 'steam off'. I like the very effective steam too; I can really feel the benefit as the iron glides over garments. Philips is also a reputable and strong brand.I usually like to activate steam on other irons I have used previously rather than ironing dry, so i like that this iron is either 'steam on' or 'steam off'. I like the very effective steam too; I can really feel the benefit as the iron glides over garments. I have noticed stubborn creases are somewhat easier to eliminate with this iron, compared to others. Could this also be down to this product feeling a little heavier than other irons? The water filling point is nice and big, with no bubbling over if filled too quickly, as often happens with other irons I have used. The product promotional material points out that this iron has a larger water reservoir, requiring less refills. However, I have noticed that I am refilling more across a large load of ironing. I don't mind this so much because I know the steam is doing a great job and even with the increased cost of living I can easily stretch to an extra jug of water every week or two!I like the removable scale collector on the base, as I live in an area with hard water area. I am sceptical though, of how effective this will be. I do like that I can see visually the scale that accumulates inside the iron. The fact it seems to be in the removable collector is reassuring.I am impressed with the short time this iron takes to get to temperature. This really makes a difference when getting started. I also like that the handle does not have a thin rubberised trim or covering. A previous Philips iron that did soon started to peel and the handle became less effective and did not feel fit for purpose. Now, the not so good (sorry Philips)...This iron is a little heavier than what I am used to. I am sure it is only a matter of time until this feels more natural. I think it also helps to do a good job of ironing garments. SO not really a negative, maybe more of a get used to.There are two points I would make about the power cord. Firstly, it is a little shorter than the cords on my previous two irons. I always place my ironing board in the same spot - in front of the TV so I can watch as I iron. It was obvious on first use that I needed to use a short extension lead to achieve the same position with this iron. The cord is not excessively short, so again this is probably just something I need to adapt to as it is a different product. My main issue with the cord is - how do I gather and store it? Maybe I am missing something here but there is no obvious way to wrap or wind the cord anywhere around the base or the handle. Maybe I am supposed to wind it around the base under the handle then push the rigid cord protector into the purpose made notch on the rear of the handle. It's just that the cord slips off any surface I try to wind it round. Quite an inconvenience if I am honest. The handle is an open arrangement and does not return to meet the iron body at the back. I found this slightly annoying as I like to allow an iron to glide across clothes quite freely, without needing a tight grip. Each end of the handle can then stop at my hand before a light push in the opposite direction. The trouble with this open handle is that when I push the iron forward, there is no back part of the handle to stop against my hand - I nearly lost the iron over the edge a couple of times as my hand slid off the rear of the handle. Philips, its not you, it's me and I need time to change!I would definitely recommend this iron, as it just seems to work and get the job done, without the need for fiddling with any additional settings. You can feel the quality, it is robust, straight forward, uncomplicated and feels nice to use (although I need to get used to the open handle design and how it feels in my hand).
When I first looked at this iron I assumed it was a normal high quality steam iron, what I did not realise was that it had a steam blast feature which is honestly a game changer. When it comes to ironing clothes this iron does a fantastic job.plenty of steam, rapid preheating and solid design makes quick work of a pile of crinkled clothes. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to test out the steam blast feature, I didn’t expect much due to the huge size of the curtains but within a few blasts of the steam while hung up on the rail the creases just fell out. I was amazed. Upon reading the instructions the feature seemed more of a gimmick than an actual feature, but it worked so well that I repeated the process on all the curtains in my house… and my suit. It’s changed my opinion on using an iron in general as it was such a medial boring task. I was like a child with a new toy running all over the house steaming out any crease I could find. The overall build quality is as you’d expect from a Philips product, robust and well designed without flaw.I’m honestly really impressed by the product and am grateful to have added such a great tool to my arsenal
