Bought 8 of these. One failed to connect to the existing hub over wifi. Returned it to the store no hassles for refund. Took sometime to figure out how to insert the first one so it fit tight to the ceiling. Had to use pliers to bend the three spanners upward slightly, but the rest were easy using that concept. Happy with the results.

Bought these to compliment our existing Hue bulbs. We had the regular Hue White Ambiance bulbs in our existing can lights and these are listed to have a lower lumen output but they are MUCH brighter since there isn't any light lost in the fixture and it is all directed downward. Installation was super easy--truly plug and play.I got the only two in stock for my order and can't wait to order more in the future and replace the rest of my can lights with these!

I bought 16 of these to add more light to my condo. When the installation goes well and the light works, it's a pretty good product. I use the wake up feature to have my lights slowly come on in the morning. I enjoy being able to make the color temperature cooler during the day and warmer at night, which gives the place a very calm, relaxing feel. However, getting these lights to stay in the ceiling is not easy. There are three metal tabs that hold the light in place, but they're very flimsy and the neighbors walking around upstairs have been known to knock them out of place. I'm currently looking for a better way to secure the lights to the 5" can housings. With my order, one of the lights didn't work. The E26 to LED adapter that came with the bulb shorted to the metal recessed light housing, causing a shower of sparks and a small electrical fire. I contacted support to have the adapter replaced, but they informed me they did not stock replacement parts, which was a bit annoying that I'd have to exchange the entire light just because the $1 adapter broke. However, after I followed up several times, two weeks had passed and I still did not have a ticket created for the exchange, despite support promising several times there would be one.Be sure to purchase this with a credit card so you have some recourse if the product does not work. Support from Philips Hue essentially does not exist.

I decided to install these lights in my downstairs. Prior to this product, I did not have any recessed lights and needed to install everything. The reason I chose these smart lights is because I like having the ability to control everything by voice or my phone. In addition, I can single out individual lights and choose what each one does. This feature is really great because I can turn on just one or two lights behind the couch for when we are watching movies. In addition, I have the hallway light setup to turn on when I come home after dark. The quality and color of these lights is excellent.
Overall, I’m very happy with these. I bought two to replace eyelid lights. The connection is less than ideal. The only way to connect without cutting the wires included is to screw the wire into the existing bulb socket. No standard wires included. Lights are plenty bright and look great.
Even though I recommend this light I do have some reservations. This light is part of the Phillips Hue family of lighting devices. It requires the Phillips Hue Hub or the new Amazon Echo Plus that includes the hub for Phillips and a couple of other brands. I currently don't have either so I can't attach the light to the app to change its color, dim it or create a program for it. The light itself installed easily in my existing lighting can. There is some light leakage from around the rim that I can't get rid of however the light does look good in the ceiling. It is expensive - for example, replacing the 6 spots above the bar in my basement would cost over $200. The wattage is only 10 watts or 65 watts equivalent so the savings over the projected 32 years would ... MoreEven though I recommend this light I do have some reservations. I installed the HUE White Ambiance 5/6" Retrofit Recessed Downlight a couple of weeks ago but have waited to see how it works for me before offering a review. I retrofitted it into a 5" halo can fixture but it wasn't as easy as the instruction diagram makes it look. The light comes with an E26 screw-in adapter to connect to the power available in the existing recessed ceiling fixture. Speaking of the instructions they kind of suck - plenty of warnings and notices about safety and compatibility but no written suggestions on how to fine tune the attachment "wings" to get a good fit in your existing fixture. It took a couple of tries to tweak the wings to the proper position to get a good snug fit inside the fixture so that wasn't a gap at the ceiling. It took a couple of tries to tweak the wings to the proper position to get a good snug fit inside the fixture so that wasn't a gap at the ceiling. The light works well (turns on and off) with the existing 25+ year old switch. It also throws out considerably more light than the old 65 watt bulb it is replacing. While it responds to my Alexa commands it took a couple of tries to get it to integrate properly. Initially I did not have the HUE bridge as I did not feel it was necessary at the time with only one HUE device. My curiosity got the better of me and I purchased one last weekend. After downloading the app I now can dim the the light and play around with the color temperatures - from a noticeably yellow tint to an almost blue white color at the other end of the spectrum. Realistically I don't see myself fiddling around with the dimming or color selection controls because the light is located in the front entry hallway. To really take advantage of what the Phillips HUE system has to offer (motion detection, dimming, remote control through the app or Alexa and more) I would need to invest in HUE components that I really don"t have a need for at this time. The HUE system offers a lot of possibilities for someone who is looking to automate and remotely control lighting and fixtures in their home (or business). All in all its pretty cool.
The downlight works very well. This will not fit in the old work junction boxes. You need a larger box for this to fit in. The installation is super easy. Simply connect the black to black and white to white, then plug the light in. You can connect this to an existing Hue bridge or purchase one if you are doing a new installation. Once connected, you can use the App or smart devices such as Alexa to control your lighting.
The installation of this light is just like putting a regular 6 inch ca light in. If you have to cut a hole you will need a remodel can. Then the light just pops right in and screws right in. Beautiful light going from soft white in color to almost blue and very bright. This is a great upgrade for any area where you need more light. I would recommend this product and would buy again.
Phillips hue line of lighting products work very well for me, easy user setup and features. this retrofit for can lights looks good and works great. i like the clean look and the kit includes everything needed to make the swap out easy and quick, the app allows you to set different scenes. dimming works awesome. and the best part is i have mine setup to work with alexa. very convenient. will be buying more.
