The Philips Hue smart outlet is pretty amazing! Our home consists mainly of Hue bulbs with the exception of a few strands of decorative white Christmas lights for atmosphere. The smart outlet provided the solution of allowing us to enable / disable these additional lighting options to allow full control over the household lights. The product is absolutely 5 stars. Dependable Smart Plug! I have used several brands over the last few years would not dependable execute a command. Sometimes takes several commands to complete. Not so with these smart plugs. I cannot remember a failure to execute yet. first time I saw a smart plug by Phillips Hue. Maybe it's the hub that makes them dependable. anyway, I am satisfied. Hope I stays that way.

I've been waiting for this to come out for years now. For ease of use and expansion I have held off on smart home technology until ultimately deciding on Philips Hue for my lighting. Lighting is the most practical entry way into the smart home and Philips Hue has that area nailed. No question. The Hue smart plug takes this idea to the next level. Holiday lighting comes to mind with prelim Christmas trees. The Hue smart plug integrates these perfectly. I have a routine setup to turn my bedside lamp in in the morning as an alarm, but still need a radio of some sort to help wake me up. The Hue smart plug allows both the light and radio I plugged in to come on seamlessly. This sets up as a light bulb in the app, not as an accessory as I first assumed.I've had my first smart plug for a few weeks now and it totally makes my system. This will not be the last Hue smart plug I purchase. In my opinion, this puts the Hue smart system on top of the smart home technology food chain.

Like all of the Hue products installation is simple, as is activating the product within the app. My only disappointment is that non hue lights plugged into the outlet are not dimmable like other manufactures of similar products. If you just want on/off this is a great product. Definitely would have been 5 stars if it included dimming!

Super easy setup and fast response through HomeKit on iOS. It's a simple on/off switch and I use it with a little automation to turn on my simple space heater (on/off only, no settings really) when my office temp drops below 65°.Only thing that may be an issue for some is the plug faces out instead of being on the side like competitor products. Not am issue for me, but maybe something to consider depending on your outlet and furniture placements.Time will confirm reliability but historically speaking my Hue products have been perfect.
I use this for my espresso machine (which has hardware buttons) and it works great - I use HomeKit and have many Hue bulbs so this was perfect for me, however it does not collect power usage data, so if that’s something you need there may be a better product for you. Also worth note is if you have standard outlets with 2 on the plate, this might block the second outlet - it does in my case, although just barely.If you are in the hue ecosystem and use HomeKit, this product is great and does exactly what it needs to.
The Hue Smart Plug was easy to set up and use to remotely control our string of LED patio lights. Before we got the Hue Smart Plug, we had to insert the light cord into the electric receptacle each time we wanted to switch on the lights, and then remove it later on. The receptacle is low on the outside wall and is behind several large potted plants, which makes it difficult to access. We added the Hue Smart Plug to My Home Favorites on our iPhones, which makes it quick and simple to switch the lights on and off remotely. I had hoped that the Hue Smart Plug would make it possible to dim the lights, but sadly, no.

Can't even adjust the times. Also, the Hue Lab Timed-Off program that enables the Tap Switch and the Dimmer Switch to be capable of turning lights on and then turning them off automatically off after a preset amount of time doesn't work on this switch. This would be very useful for stairwells and guidelights. Pretty sad for a European product as this feature has been customary on European hallway, stairwell and path lights for decades.
