I bought this with the hub to experiment with IOT. Phillips have implemented a free and very well documented API for developers and experimenters to use to create their own Apps. Was able to make a simple on/off with brightness Android App in a few hours using MIT App Inventor.

Easy to set up through the app and great to be able to turn any lights into a dimmable light with voice command or using app. Whole house can even be on a timer for when you come home.

Over several months, I've been changing one or two lights at a time over to the hue bulbs. I have a chronic illness, and I find that telling my phone or watch to turn lights off and on is useful. (I can lie in bed and tell my phone to turn on the lights I will need if I have to get up, and can turn them off again once I get back to bed.)

Setup was a little more complicated than expected. Instructions were pretty brief. Got there in the end though and they're working well now. Great when I get home in the dark or when hands are full.
I brought this to sync with my other Philips smart lights but unfortunately none of the Philips smart light work as expected with apple home kit.
Flawless working, bright enough (you won't be disappointed), wireless technology with no errors, bugs etc, took me 5' to connect 9 bulbs, a few things though: Only warm light (the usual yellow-orange colour), it works as it is just like a regular bulb but if you want to make it a "smart bulb" (change brightness, turn on/off wirelessly) and a ton of other things you should buy "Hue Bridge" as well! Hopefully every single bulb it's gonna work for about 10 years - 6 hours/day. Generally I'ts a good investment.
For this light to work you must have a Philips Hue Bridge. It very easy to set up and connect to your wifi network and you don't have to be a tech expert. The Bridge and bulbs are quite responsive to each other and also work really well with Google Home Assistant.

Love the whole Hue series, this was for a hall Lamp that didn't need to change colour. Perfect can turn the lamp to a nightlight at night from a easily programmed timer.
These work well and the whole Hue ecosystem is very good and works well. Some other smart home devices are a bit more difficult to set up and can be a bit quirky - but these are solid. I do find all the Philips Hue products a bit expensive but they are high quality.
