Ordinary dimmable white bulbs, online, controlled by voice through Alexa. Saves me having to get off my derriere to turn on/off and as they are dimmable, I don't need a table light as a low light alternative. Colour temp is a bit low, but I soon got used to it.

These light bulbs were super easy to set up and use, even though I hadn't used wireless light bults or the Philips Hue app before. There's the option too to get a Hue Bridge and create more integrated wireless lighting in your home, if you want to use these bulbs in more than one room, although I've not done that yet.For me, the best thing about these bulbs are that they enable me to change the style of the lighting in a room - something I couldn't do before because I just have standard light switches, and no dimmer switches. I've enjoyed being able to turn down the lights from the sofa in the evening to create a more relaxing atmosphere, and it's just as easy to turn the lights off altogether too from my phone. That means you can light up a room in a bright sterile hospital almost-blue white or any shade of white through to a warm almost golden sunset-like colour. For me, that's been useful for getting the light 'just right' for online work meetings, and then being able to change it when I finish work.

Once you have access to the Philips Hue app, there are endless colour options and different scenes. The app works really well on Apple and controls the lights perfectly through Bluetooth. I also linked the app and lights to the Alexa so they can change colour, switch on and off etc all remotely just through using my voice-so clever! However, we also have smart devices powered by Google, although the app was unable to connect to Google so we can only control them through Alexa which is fine, I just wanted to be greedy and have them controlled by both systems. I would be very tempted to develop the system by getting the Bridge next so I can control the lights when I am away from the house.
