I had quite a lot of hair on my arms, legs, underarms and face. I have used the laser as directed and now have almost no hairs. I have very fine hairs on my arms now and 1 hair under my arms and just a couple of fine hairs on one leg. The results are amazing and I’m so glad that I used this. Friends who have had professional laser treatment are still having treatments10 years on. I did have a lot of hair and my hair was very dark and coarse. I’m now using this for my daughter and to treat my bikini area and as I haven’t done the treatments on time as it’s a little painful there I haven’t seen the results I wanted but I guess that’s my own fault and will get back on track with these. I would highly recommend to anyone and have already done so to all my friend and family.

Having read such positive & encouraging reviews, I signed up to the Try & Buy scheme which made this a lot more affordable for me & WOW I’m so pleased I did! I’m dark haired, olive skin & have always been a bit obsessive about hair removal! During the summer/on holidays I would shave everyday just to keep my skin smooth & hair free. The Phillips Lumea IPL has been a complete game changer for me! It’s so easy to use & comes with 4 different attachments for different parts of the body. I always use it with the lead as I find it a little quicker than without. After just 3 treatments (1 every fortnight) my underarm hair was almost gone completely & I would say about 85% of my leg & bikini line leaving me with the smoothest feeling skin! I had read that this is fairly common with IPL treatment so I wasn’t too concerned, however I went down an intensity the next time & after every use since then I apply aqueous calamine cream on the treated areas which has helped massively. I stuck to the schedule for the first 4 treatments as recommended & I’m over the moon to say the least! Theres lots of useful tips & advice on the app which I find has been invaluable to use as a treatment reminder, sending notifications to my phone. I only wish I’d got this sooner & can’t recommend it highly enough.

So easy to use with the choice of cord or cordless. Cordless it’s great on the under arms and face.I use the power cable on my legs so I can take my time and not miss any areas. I started using it in late December and my legs are now hair free I use setting 5 for legs and only feel a slight tingle on the ankle area, so pleased with the results. I set aside time to do my legs, underarms and upper lip the first session took the longest but now am all done in less than an hour. So so much better than waxing. I love the bag that came with the IPL everything fits in nicely just pop the head in first push handle to the bottom put heads in there little pocket and the cable on top perfect.

Not sure about this. Yes my hair growth has slowed but despite using it correctly and following all rules, I still have regrowth and I have rhe perfect skin and hair colour for this to work with optimum results. It takes hours to use. What they don't tell you is the unit gets so hot the until itself burns your skins after 10mins so you need to keep stopping making the legs take 2hours to complete. My unit also broke. The red flashes stopped working and I was told this is common fault so I had to swap it. That's not good after 2 months. If someone said would I do this again I would say yes to IPL but I think I'd try the rival one on the market.
Over the years I’ve tried everything from shaving and waxing to epilating and no matter have often I scrubbed my skin and exfoliated I’ve always suffered from bad ingrown hairs. So around 5 years ago I went to get laser done to my underarms and bikini area due to a recommendation by my GP to help reduce the ingrown hairs. Although the laser was good I found that I struggled to fit travelling to and from the clinics regularly around my on the go lifestyle, and I would constantly miss or have to rearrange my bookings, this prompted me to start thinking that this is just something I will have to live with forever and I then gave up on the laser. After hearing about this product from a friend I decided I wanted to give it another shot and not give up on the hope that ... I’m delighted to say, it really has helped! Having this product which is easy to travel with and pack in my bags or suitcases means that I don’t have to worry about making appointments and factor in the travel time anymore, I can do it at home or away on my trips; I’ve noticed a considerable loss of hair over my legs, underarms, bikinis and my upper lip but I have also (touch wood) had a huge reduction of ingrown hairs too! By keeping up the regular and consistent use of my laser the hairs are a lot thinner and there’s quite large areas that have almost stopped growing hairs completely. I’m extremely happy and impressed with the product and I’m glad to not be spending £150+ every 4 weeks on appointments that were hard to get to, and I’d never go back!
I bought my Philips Lumea IPL 9000 series in December and started my treatments around 9 January. I do treatments weekly, rather than the recommended fortnightly. I didn’t notice much of a difference for the first 3 or 4 treatments, but now that I’ve been doing it for about 7 weeks it’s made a massive difference. I have had IPL treatments in the salon before and also owned a Tria IPL machine. Salon treatments are stronger, so work faster, but the benefit of having your own at-home device is that you can do IPL in multiple places on your body without it costing more, plus you can do it when it’s convenient for you. I was happy with my Tria, but then it developed a fault after about 18 months (I think) and so I didn’t use it. Then after a while it wouldn’t work at ... Then after a while it wouldn’t work at all. Recently, I tried to get it working again. Tria suggested a couple of things, but it didn’t help. Not impressed with the longevity of the Tria one, I bought this Philips machine - the reviews were good and I liked the idea of having a cordless device. However, the battery doesn’t last that long, so don’t worry too much about getting a cordless one. I mostly use mine plugged in. Also, don’t worry about all the attachments - mine has four, but I mostly use the one biggest one. Just like the Tria, it is very easy to use. I probably prefer the look of the Philips one. The best thing about it is the results - I got it because being a lady of a certain age, I started to get chin and upper lip hairs! And I have really dark hair, so very noticeable. I was shaving and plucking twice a day and it was irritating my skin. Thankfully, this has been a Godsend! I don’t have much hair elsewhere due to previous IPL treatments, but some hairs had started to grow back (around knees, odd ones on the armpits, a few dark hairs on the arms, etc), so this has been great for that too. Based on my experience, I thoroughly recommend it. I just hope it lasts longer than my Tria!
I received my shipment yesterday. When I open the shipment box, I got shocked because the package of the item damaged a lot. After I open the product package, I got shocked one more time because the product was used. Refurbished should not mean be used (Philips explains this in the regarding page in detail). I have been using this device consistently as guided via the app on when to start the next course of treatment. I should be the perfect candidate for results as per your recommendation. I have pale skin and dark hairs ( I would say they are more black than brown). I have seen no different whatsoever which I am extremely disappointed with as I thought I would buy the most expensive product of yours in hope for the best results possible. I have seen 0 change to the growth rate / thickness of my hairs. I have been using it on my face, under arms, arms and legs and I haven’t seen one area which I could say I can see any improvement in. Also I brought this product for the face hair removal tool in which this broke in 4 weeks of purchasing which I am not happy with. I replaced the battery but the contraption no longer removes any hair. I thought perhaps it would remove the stubble I have but no my hairs grow back as quickly as 2 days. I have been using it in hopes that maybe in the next few sessions it will drastically change but I see now difference. Also in between sessions I do shave does this affect the results? I use the highest intensity which is setting 5 in hopes that it would work more efficiently but that is not the case. I am now unsure whether I am doing something wrong to hinder my results? I make sure I shave every area before I use the device so that I’m hair free but the next day I’m no longer hair free! Please could someone get back to me in regards to this as I am very dissatisfied with the amount this has costed me to see 0 results. I have been looking into it and they say that hormones could play a big factor for consistent hair growth but I haven’t got any medical conditions?ThanksBecca
Found this product about 4-5yrs ago and hesitated because of the price. Quite simply wish I didn’t.This product arrived on my doorstep on the 3rd February 2024 and I’m ALREADY getting MASSIVE improvements!!!I had to shave everyday, I suffer with double and triple hair follicles which makes waxing or epilating agonising! Some days if it’s cold out and I shave my legs in the morning…by the afternoon I could use them as sandpaper, I hate it.I’ve been using this product once a week, already becoming patchy and growth has slowed massively it’s only been a month!Usually if I don’t shave my legs for a week I’d be prepared with 2 razors in the shower as I’d quickly block them, these results are after a week since I last shaved and trust me I put my own dad to shame ... I would flinch a little mid upper lip, absolutely nothing for my sideburns, legs some flinching (mainly on the bone areas) but otherwise an absolute breeze 1000000% beats waxing! Full Brazilian area I could have cried how pleasant it actually was to use here, I was dreading this place the most but I found it no big deal at all just a little awkward positioning lol.Underarms I found the most uncomfortable truth be told I don’t look forward to doing them but it’s a small area and results are worth it.TIP- do the most sensitive areas first as machine is nice and cool as it can overheat, it’s no big deal if it feels hot on your legs but you will certainly know about it if it gets hot under you armpits, I just turn it off for 10min and it’s absolutely fine then.Hope this helps!!! I would not hesitate ever again. Fantastic product!
I was very pleased and excited to be chosen by Philips to test the Philips Lumea asIPL had always appealed to me, as I get so fed up of constant hair removal, so this was ideal for a home treatment. The Lumea is packaged beautifully, the colour is lovely and comes with different heads for different areas of the body along with a padded case. It looks and feels like a good quality product and although it did feel a little heavy, it is still manageable. I was quite anxious prior to using IPL as I had heard stories of people with Asian skin sometimes suffering discoloration after professional treatment, so I was really pleased and quite impressed that this product was designed for use with certain skin and hair colours, and I really like the safety feature where if ... MoreI was very pleased and excited to be chosen by Philips to test the Philips Lumea asIPL had always appealed to me, as I get so fed up of constant hair removal, so this was ideal for a home treatment. The Lumea is packaged beautifully, the colour is lovely and comes with different heads for different areas of the body along with a padded case. It looks and feels like a good quality product and although it did feel a little heavy, it is still manageable. I was quite anxious prior to using IPL as I had heard stories of people with Asian skin sometimes suffering discoloration after professional treatment, so I was really pleased and quite impressed that this product was designed for use with certain skin and hair colours, and I really like the safety feature where if your skin colour is not suitable the product just won’t operate.I have sensitive skin so was really pleased that my skin didn’t show any signs of a reaction after doing the skin test, even on the highest setting. After having read the instructions (several times) I also downloaded the app, which I think is absolutely fantastic and found it a lot more useful than the instruction booklet. There are five different settings and I used the setting that was recommended for me by the sensor (4) which wasn’t painful, just felt a warm tingle with each flash nowhere near as painful as waxing or epilating! I did try it on the higher setting 5 because I thought I would get better results and faster, however I found that a little too painful. I really liked the sensor feature and the fact this is personalized to your skin colour so you don’t have to guess which setting you should be using. It took me around 10 minutes to do one half of my legs which was a lot quicker than I had expected and really liked the continuous flash feature which is helpful for larger areas like arms and legs. It took a few attempts to get the hang of positioning the Lumea so it was making full contact on the skin, but then it was quite easy. My skin did tingle for an hour or two after the treatment and I did notice my skin was a lot dryer than usual the following day but that was mentioned as being quite normal. I did find it tricky to remember exactly which areas I had covered so I wouldn’t be going over the same area twice, but I think that will be something I will get the hang of the more I use it. I used the adaptor on most of the occasions I used it as I just happened to be near a socket but the fact that this is rechargeable also makes it very convenient and the battery life is enough for a whole session. So far I have used it for a month now and although there is not a massive difference, I have been pleasantly surprised at he lack of regrowth as my hair is quite dark and fairly coarse so I can see where I have missed some areas as the hair is growing back in little patches but on the whole the results look quite promosing in the long run. I think the app is just amazing and it makes the whole experience of using the Lumea just brilliant as it literally guides you through the process step by step and sets reminders, so you know when the next treatment is, along with lots of helpful videos. The only thing I didn’t like about the Lumea are the bright flashes, which I found really uncomfortable and hurt my eyes. Although the instruction manual does say that they wont damage your eyes and not to look at the flashes, you need to look at the white light to see if the next flash is ready and even though I did try and look away every time there was a flash, I still found the bright light very uncomfortable on my eyes. I wonder if something could be changed in the design so that wouldn’t be a problem, apart from that I think it’s a great product and would definitely recommend to friends and family.
