An okay epilator

Had better expectations for this epilator after having read reviews. First of all it's louder than expected. I have previously use two different braun epilators and the Philips one is much louder. Epilating was pain free as used to it but am not impressed with the hair growth. Compared to previous times the hair grew back quicker, much thicker and not as sparse as before. Haven't used the other attachments yet but overall its an okay epilator. Personally, prefer the braun epilators.

Best on flat areas

This epilator works very well on legs and other large or flat areas of the body. I will definitely keep using it for that in the future! The light is extremely handy. I have rated four stars as it is noisier than what I expected so that limits when I can use it. It is also not ideal for areas such as underarms and pubic regions, even when using the attachments, as the head is rather chunky and curved in the opposite direction of what is needed for your nooks and crannies. I managed the underarms with a whole lot of manoeuvring and stretching my skin so that it would be more accessible. I would recommend this product, as long as you don't plan to use it for the pubic area or if you have a low pain tolerance (though it doesn't take long for your skin to become ... MoreThis epilator works very well on legs and other large or flat areas of the body. Excellent epilator

This is my 3rd Philips epilator, my previous models each lasted years and years but I needed a new one after all this time. Was lucky enough to buy this model from John Lewis when it was half price, what an incredible bargain. It epilates with absolutely minimal discomfort and leaves my legs super smooth. I like the light feature to show up fine hairs and the ergonomic shape helps navigate the knees and other bony areas comfortably. I even bravely tried it under arm and it was fine, I barely felt it, unlike my previous models. The sensitivity attachments can be useful if you are new to epilation but in practice I just use the epilator itself without them, it has 2 speeds. Personally I use it dry and find it excellent at removing the vast majority of hairs quickly ... MoreThis is my 3rd Philips epilator, my previous models each lasted years and years but I needed a new one after all this time. The rechargeable function is ideal for versatility when using the epilator without being hindered by any restrictive cord. I cannot recommend this epilator enough, I was so thrilled with it, I have bought one for my lovely daughter in law for her birthday. As a previous reviewer has commented, the only thing that could be enhanced is the storage bag it comes with, feels a bit cheap and could be better, but other than that would say go buy!

From Brazilian Wax to Philips Epilator 8000
24 March 2023

I was regularly getting a Brazilian wax and since I have an older plugin model of Phillips; I decided to get the newest model. I wish I would have been doing a Brazilian wax years ago so then I would have had this awesome machine. I am currently using it on my thighs and my pubic area from front to backside and anything in between. I’m hairless from my waist to my knees. Thanks to this machine. I would add photos but being of the areas it might be offensive. Definitely use this after a shower and I’ve tried the attachments and prefer not to use them. The head of the machine I prefer against my skin.

Good Epilator - flaws that aren’t dealbreakers
23 June 2021

This epilator works better than the last one I used, more thorough (successfully pulls more hairs without having to keep going over the same area). There doesn’t seem to be any difference between the 2 speed settings and I don’t find the 2 epilating attachments to be very useful, it works best without them. The battery seems good so far and it is a really nice looking unit. It’s really difficult to put the shaver attachment onto the body because something doesn’t line up properly to get it to click into place. I have to fiddle with it a lot to get it on. Once on the shaver works well and the trimmer comb cuts at a good length. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and would recommend but there are a few minor flaws. I was after a good epilator and this it definitely is.

Legs & Under Arms
21 January 2022

Legs. The first time I used it on my wet legs, it worked wonders! Made my skin smooth for over a week compared to a few days from regular shaving. The second time I used it on my wet legs about a month later, it couldn't catch the finer baby hair, so it left spots here and there. I had to go over those spots several times once my legs were dry to somewhat work.Under Arms. Ouch! Very sensitive the first time I used it and took over an hour to complete both underarms for my first time epilating. My husband thought it was pulling on my skin, when I think it was just literally tweezing out all the thick roots. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch... BUT WORTH IT! The epilator has lowered the frequency of shaving under arms from every 2-3 days to about once a week. The second time I used it, it was not as painful, but it was still hard trying to get all the hair by myself as some were growing in different directions. Would be easier if you have a second person do it for you.All in all, I don't think I will ever go back to regular shaving for my non-sensitive areas. Although I feel like epilating takes longer than regular shaving due to spotty areas that don't catch on the first/second try, but the less frequency required to have smooth legs and hairless under arms is more convenient for me.

Loud, but good
20 September 2022

I did a lot of research on epilators and spoke to friends who have them. I decided to go with this one as it had the attachments I was after. Not having had one previously I wasn’t sure what to expect. It is very loud, surprisingly so. It seems to do the job well. I usually shave my legs but have started using the epilator and definitely don’t have to shave as frequently. I guess all hair grows at different times so you won’t get them all so have to go over areas, but largely have been very impressed. I haven’t quite managed to do my knees yet, they were a little too sensitive!

Love it
24 March 2023

As someone with PCOS, I get facial hair and this has changed my life, I just run this over quickly instead of standing there plucking individual hairs every day. It works very well for dark, coarse hairs, but less so for lighter hairs. It does armpits very well. It did my leg hairs well when I was white with darker hairs, but atm I am tanned and my hairs are blonde and it seems to struggle with them a bit now, takes a few going overs. But I still love it. If you have dark, coarse hairs you need this in your life.
