It may be a more updated product than the old hairclippers but clear instructions would be appreciated. I still think the old ones do a better job with numerous attachments rather than settings. If you still like to use scissors to finish the job you need to buy your own. My husband has a moustache and there is no way I would go near his mouth with this.

As far as I understand, the person who designed this product does not have much knowledge and experience about haircuts. it is almost like a product produced by hearsay information obtained from the internet. it is a huge disappointment.1- The shape of the combs is so wrong that you cannot interfere with any folds. The motorised combs are a good idea so kudos to whoever invented this feature. I just wish they were made with a thicker more robust plastic. Excellent trimmer but...
19 June 2020

I have this trimmer since 2015 and bought a second identical one yesterday. My old one did not need a new blade in these 5 years. Great motor, blade, precision - everything. The top of the range machine with memory functions, excellent battery etc.A very small plastic part spontaneously broke during operation in the trimmer. It's like a button and its absence means that the rotor does not move the blade. Philips does NOT service this product. Thus, if you are out of warranty, you will have to buy another machine in case of trouble. While unfortunate, you'll be hard-pushed to find a better service policy or trimmer.

Good clippers
24 December 2023

Good clippers cut really well, easy to use and light. Charge quickly and last a good time before needing to be re-charged. Setting length display easy to read and easily set and stored, only slight issue is the digital swipe is quite sensitive and it is a little difficult to get the exact setting you require sometimes. There are more than 400 possible length settings as it goes up in increments of 0.1mm which is a little excessive/over the top, but would recommend, you get what you pay for.

Great for head. Not so great for facial hair.
27 August 2023

I really want to love this product. It glides through hair, facial and head with ease. This doesn't tend to be the case with most cordless trimmers, they tend to snag. The only problem I have found is the comb. It's massive!Like a lot of people have found, it does cut shorter than expected, but due to the size of the comb it's impossible to trim under your nose properly, and awkward under your chin, if not just going up or down.

Nice while it works
19 November 2017

Purchased for tidying a medium-length beard and for diy haircuts. Light use - beard trimming every 1-2 weeks and haircuts a few times a year. Worked well for over a year with no problems. Battery life was excellent, unit was reasonably ergonomic. Plastic combs have lost one tooth despite gentle use, but are otherwise fine. Compared to boyfriend's old shaver, this one gets the job done SO much faster. After about a year of use as above, we are now encountering a serious and very frustrating mechanical issue. The sliding plates jam up unpredictably between 5 and 30 seconds into use, necessitating disassembly of the head. Too much sliding resistance causes the magnetic drive to decouple. Boyfriend believes the magnetic drive is too weak for the task of driving the plates.I write to you sitting on the bathtub while awaiting boyfriend's completion of disassembly/clean-out/plate jumpstart #5 for the day. We are about 30% done with a hair trim. It's been 40 minutes. I'm infuriated. Boyfriend is clearly never getting the rest of his haircut. This shaver impressed me until it broke my heart.

READ THE LOW REVIEWS! THE ARE CORRECT!
10 January 2023

Please read the low reviews, they are all correct!!I read them but thought I knew better, after just one use they are going straight back!If you have short hair, 1-10mm it is USELESS! I tried and tried following Philips tips to get evenly cut hair at about 5mm, it's impossible, I was cutting for at least 10-15 minutes thinking I had got everything, looked in the mirror and was genuinely shocked as to how much was completely missed! The problem seems to be the well reported issue of the comb constantly clogging with your own hair and NOT clearing as the "Trim-n-Flow" suggests, you end up going over hair several times and hearing it cut, but it's not cutting the hair on your head, its cutting the clogged hair in the comb meaning you are constantly stopping to ... MorePlease read the low reviews, they are all correct!!I read them but thought I knew better, after just one use they are going straight back!If you have short hair, 1-10mm it is USELESS! The unit is just far too long, and you end up hitting your shoulder and upper back trying reach those tricky to reach areas, it’s also very easy to drop and hold when trying to go around your ears.I'm used to a 5 min cut with my 17-year-old Philips QC5170 180-degree swivel which are a breeze to use in comparison, why on earth have they stopped making a similar model?Overall, this is the most disappointing product I have EVER had from Philips.

This is Quality
24 March 2024

I've had this clipper for years. I used to use the guard, but I lost it. Anyway, I learned to fade my hair without it & it still does better fades than my Wahls & Babyliss clippers without guards. This depends on your techniques but for some reason I just can't go wrong with the Phillips blade fading my hair into a 2, 3 & I even got fading up to a #6 on top down with just this Phillips blade only. After all these years, (10+) it cuts no problem & the battery still lasts through roughly 10 cuts per charge.

Uncomfortable to hold and doesn't cut at longer lengths
23 May 2018

Usually love Philips products so I bought these to replace my previous Philips QC5070, which didn't hold charge very long anymore. An absolute backwards step from my older clippers.Three huge combs instead of two. The motorised lock in feature is annoying and not as easy as the manual "scroll wheel" feature on my old ones and it will randomly reset itself if you leave it for what seems like 10 seconds. It also takes longer to get to the length you want as you have to wait for the motor to go through the lengths. The old one you could just whip the scroll wheel and you were on the length you want. The unit itself is bulky and cumbersome and an absolute nightmare to do the back of your head with. It's just too big and too big to comfortably hold in your hand ... MoreUsually love Philips products so I bought these to replace my previous Philips QC5070, which didn't hold charge very long anymore. An absolute backwards step from my older clippers.Three huge combs instead of two. The old one you could just whip the scroll wheel and you were on the length you want. The unit itself is bulky and cumbersome and an absolute nightmare to do the back of your head with. It's just too big and too big to comfortably hold in your hand whilst cutting. It also doesn't follow the shape of your head as you move it across your head, like my old one did. My old one was also a perfect size to hold, and the round shape sat neatly in your hand. This one feels like you're holding a baseball bat and has a really annoying and over the top curve in the middle that means you nearly drop it whenever you turn it round to do the back. The combs actually seem to hurt your head when they go over it! They feel too hard. The worst point - it's useless at cutting at the longer lengths! It just pushes your hair out the way instead of cutting it. So much for this "dual-cut" technology - my old clippers cut through the hair like a warm knife through soft butter. You'd get a better cut smearing peanut butter on your head and getting your dog to chew your hair off.Only positives are that it seems to hold its charge although I only used it twice, now it's on eBay. It can obviously do a lot of lengths too (although it can't and won't cut the longer lengths at all).
