A very nice shave

This replaced an older Philips shaver which probably needed new blades. I was genuinely surprised by how pleasant this is to use. It doesn’t sound like it’s rotating very fast but it is smooth and effective in use. I got used to not shaving in lockdown and now I actually look forward to it, it’s that nice. 2 or 3 days stubble removed in less than 2 mins, no snagging, no irritation. The App gives good feedback on technique and is surprisingly helpful. Cleaning pod seems to work, but I’m not sure where the freed hairs actually go, maybe I should be rinsing the shaver after self cleaning? 1 star removed for the expense of the refill pods of the cleaning module. I got this at a very attractive price, probably due to a newer model being available. Not sure I’d spend £300 ... MoreThis replaced an older Philips shaver which probably needed new blades. Pop up trimmer isn’t the best, but works on sideburns. I kept my old model with a detachable, adjustable trimmer.

Disappointed.

I've had a few Philips shavers over many years Bought a cheaper wet & dry for holiday use and enjoyed it. Blades nearly same as new unit so bought latter. They dulled so bought 7000 series. Firstly it was immediately obvious the noise emitted was terrible compared to el cheapo of same make. I've strong coper wire bristles that soon dull blades. Blade costs will see me resume the much cheaper at750 aquatouch. That cuts very well. I wouldn't recommend the 7000 series on noise alone. It is very very loud, uncomfortably so, compared to an at750 aquatouch

I had high hopes for this shaver as my facial hair seems so resistant. The shaver holds a good charge but really doesn’t get a close shave. Regardless of what I do, there are always bits of stubble I can feel and even where the skin is more smooth I’m left looking like I painted my face a grey colour after I shaved. I wish Phillips would focus more on R&d to create a shaver that actually gives u a true close shave instead of focussing more on marketing. The trimmer isn’t sharp enough either for more than simple use and for the price you’d think an ear/nose trimmer would be included. The cleaning pod works well tho. The app is not very useful but to be honest it keeps getting disconnected randomly from my phone anyway. I tapped it gently on the edge of the sink to dislodge hairs after a shave and nearly lost the top piece down the sink. All I want is a real close smooth shave and this doesn’t deliver so this may be my last Phillips.

Fantastic shaver in general, some issues however
20 February 2022

This is my first electric shaver so was very open to the circular motions required for this one and as such shaves very well. It has a very smart design and I feel that it looks premium. Battery lasts for a good couple of weeks even when shaving on a daily basis . I also like the Bluetooth and App features, however there are some issues with this. For the first few days the app connected to the phone automatically as intended, since then I've had to manually unpair and reconnect each time (yes I have reset the shaver yet still the same issue). Whilst this is a minor issue, one of the reasons why this shaver is expensive is due to the technology. It isn't great if that isn't working properly, and from other reviews I'm not the only one. Also the picture instructions are an absolute disgrace. I recommend downloading a written manual from the Philips support website or via the groomtribe app. Those picture instructions in the box truely are awful, what were Philips thinking? I'd have awarded 4 stars with a better manual provided, and 5 stars if the Bluetooth was more reliable. So this would be a 5 star shaver for the price without those issues!

Good device, but strange software
24 February 2023

It shave quite well. My wiskers are a tough job for any shaver, but this does quite a good job compared to other shavers that k have tried. The cleaning station works very well indeed, and unlike others it only cleans and does not charge. That is a good design, as it does not need charging often at all. The battery lasts a very long time. I much prefer this design, and it was one of the reasons I chose this shaver. The software is odd It is obsessed with the idea of encouraging uou to shave in a circular motion Why, is anyone's guess. Ive tried using a circular motion as I shave with it, but it reports that I have not done well. I get between 12% and 40% score only. I just ignore that. However the software does report on battery status and also how much longer the cleaning pod eill last, which I find very useful. The bluetooth link is string enough for me to connect to it from any room in the house ---Summary--- Good shave. Good design. Cleaning vase works very well. Software good for battery and cleaning pod monitoring.

Love the razor but won't stay connected to the app
14 February 2023

This was a Christmas gift and I have to say I love the razor. It cuts so nicely without razor burn and I love the cleaning pod. I realized I don't need to clean it everyday. I use the cleaning function about 2 times a week. Really extends the life of the cleaning pod. Also, the battery life is really good. Last for weeks. However, though I have tried to use the app, which I love by the way (I'm a bit of an app junkie), I can't get the razor to stay paired with the app. I usedit for about a week before it disconnected the first time and then re-paired it with the app. Same happened again the second time. I love the instant feedback the app gives. I don't know if that's an app problem or a razor problem or both. So I use it without the app. :( If this were just a ... MoreThis was a Christmas gift and I have to say I love the razor. It cuts so nicely without razor burn and I love the cleaning pod. Much better razor !
8 January 2023

Recently been bought this by my wife for a birthday present. She bought me the 9000 series a few years ago but I found this model hopeless. Never got a decent shave, always finding the head would come apart in bits and had to mess around changing to the trimming tool. I have been using Philips razors all my life and the best one lasted over 20 years. It had a metal head and pop up trimmer. Bomb proof! This new one although not was well built is far better. The shave it close and the razor is very quiet. You dont think its going to work as its so light and quiet but it leaves the 9000 in the cold.I dont need to use it ever day but at least when I do use it, it would as I expect it to.

Not what I expected from Philips.
13 September 2022

Design is awkward to handle and shave with. Havin used Philips for 30 + years, this is the shawer I like the least. Rectangular features of the head to not allow for close enough access to sensitive parts of the chin and nose. The product feels flimsy. Shaving results have decreased dramatically over just couple of months. I praise the lightness, the grip and simplicity of use, though I do not know why anyone needs to interact with mobile in order to shave their face. I've don perfectly well without it for several decades. I bought it considering that the pricier model might cut better, faster, cleaner, but I guess I have paid for electronic upgrades, not mechanical ones, shame. Will consider another brand after being very happy with it for a long time.

Probably the worst shaver
17 May 2022

While being around £150+ it does not deliver what a shaver of this price bracket ought to do. Cost cutting is at the fore while pricing is high. Constantly have to repeat around chin and throat resulting in rash and skin irritation. While previous models had twin rows of blades/cutters providing highly efficient and speedy grooming coat cutting has lead to just ineffective circle of blades. While much older models were robust recent machines are heavily plasticised making for some what flimsy make up though this product is on the heavy side with larger 'pads' than before making it tricky to get blades in nooks and crannies. Central chamber and bottom of shaver leaks. Grateful for facility to clean blades without dismantling.

Sadly disappointing
13 February 2023

I decided to switch from foil to a rotary after many years, given the excellent reviews this product had received. For me, the experience has been a disappointment. The razor doesn't glide over my skin that smoothly; probably down to my 62 year old sagging features. I found I needed a number of passes to get a reasonable finish and, the worst thing, the razor can cut flesh; not agreeable. The phone app never downloaded, not that I really needed it; a bit gimmicky for me. I will move back to foil when I can afford it.
