I think this is a fantastic beginner controller and a decent value. The pads and jogs feel great to me (touch and responsiveness) and it has all the features I need (EQ, effects, loops, hotcues) in a fairly intuitive layout. I like the style of this controller but part of the reason i'm taking a star of is that the overall build quality and fitment doesn't compare to my prevous controller from Native Instruments. Everything is functional on this controller but the knobs don't have as nice a feel and some areas feel like they weren't put toegether with the same care as my NI controller. On the software side I like Rekordbox for for the library management but visually I find it unnapealing but it's functional at least. Pioneer is pushing it too far with subscriptions ... MoreI think this is a fantastic beginner controller and a decent value. I like that I can use it with my ipad or phone as well, instead of a laptop. Makes for a super compact setup for travelling!

What a fantastic piece of kit for the cash. It looks the business, SOUNDS the dog's danglies, and gets you up and running in next to no time. I've got a musical background, but mainly from a writing/playing keyboards/production angle. I've never been a DJ...just someone who knows a good tune, has a 'head library' of millions of tracks and always fancied teaching the kids a thing or two about 'Old Skool' classics and how to mix them. This is the perfect controller to allow me to do that.I'm no purist when it comes to DJ'ing. I don't care if someone can spin 4 Technics vinyl decks at once. I care about sound quality and the choice of 'choon' that the DJ makes. If I'm not headlining in Ibiza this summer then that'll be my fault, not Pioneer's. ;-)Seriously though, just buy one. For sub 300 you really can NOT go wrong.

I bought the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 for a client who is just starting out. I was blown away by the quality and features. I love that it's set up for Pioneer Rekordbox and Serato. I would recommend upgrading Serato DJ Pro as lite is quite stripped back. It's super easy to set up and sounds great. Some of the set up in Recordbox mode is a little gimmicky but I guess that's part of the fun? All in all a perfect first mixer. I look forward to using it with the new Rekordbox app out in 2023.

Loving my new DDJ-FLX4. Bought it to replace my old DDJ-400. THere's a noticeable improvement in the overall look and feel of the mixer. I haven't fully explored new features so can't speak to them. The shopping experience at B&H was really smooth and convenient. Asked an associate in the pro music section for the DDJ-FLX4 and was out of the store with my new purchase in less than 10 minutes. The whole process was very organized. Will be coming back for my next DJ equipment purchase.
As someone who has no idea what I'm doing, I'm still having a great time learning and playing with this mixer. Plenty of resources online to learn both the hardware and the software Rekordbox. It's pretty much all plastic, but still feels solid enough. Controls are very responsive and it's pretty much plug and play. Wish it came with some RCA cables though.
For a starter, this is the controller to get. As a predecessor of the ddj 400, this incorporates many new features that are beginner friendly (beat sync, smart cross fade, etc). However, these features should not be abused as it can lead to bad habits.Compact so it’s easy to travel with, but that also means that the jog wheel is small. The controller feels of high quality but compared to the flx10 and club equipment it feels like a toy.If you want to be future proof, get the flx6 with the 4 channel mixer. If you are trying to se if you like it, get this! It’s a very solid beginner controller
I ordered this as a complete beginner. I had never touched a sound board before and was banking on my desire to do this and succeed it at when ordering it. Due to the layout of the board, the abundance of information out there on Youtube and the internet, and some hours of practice and I've already got it down. I actually already did my first gig and have my second planned! If you are debating purchasing this board as a beginner, do it. If you have some experience, even then, the board has a decently high skill ceiling. This is such a solid board and I am so happy that I went for it!
I am still learning a lot as I go with this controller but it does everything you would ever want it to do for a mobile DJ when used with a Laptop running one of the main DJ applications such as Rekordbox or Serato, At this moment in time we are still waiting for a Mapped Virtual DJ interface but once that is here it will amazing no matter which platform you prefer to use. Its so compact and the build quality is amazing. It looks really smart compared to my previous Numark controller. I love the new ColourFX and SmartFader modes that Pioneer have introduced it makes it possible to move from different music speeds and Genres with ease. I will be doing my first gig with this controller shortly and I cannot wait :)
This is without doubt the best money I have spent in a long while ! Ive been toying with the idea for a few years now after seeing various DJ's on Youtube etc mixing some of the old skool tunes I used to love. I had Technics 1200's from about 1990 onwards and used to spend all of my money on either 12" records or nights out. I sold them a long time ago and have missed them so much. Now with soundcloud etc you can have all of those tunes back and Im in my element! My wife is not happy as Im supposed to be finishing our en suite but keep getting sidetracked by the decks. My son seems to have hijacked them at the minute but his days are numbered as soon as I finish my jobs ! If youve been thinking of buying these, just like me.....just do it !
It's summertime, my 10 yr old daughter is on break, i didn't want her just sitting around watching yt all day long. So instead I watched a lot of reviews on yt on her behalf and chose the flx4 based on reviews for beginner djs. must say, i got hooked playing around with this, too! it's been a great father/daughter activity and i'm learning something new myself. as for the controller, has a lot of the functions you would expect from an entry level controller but enough to learn how to beat mix and have fun with effects. my daughter is still learning (so am i) but it's been really fun watching her skills grow. highly recommend. btw, girl djs rule!
