I have been using a Bosch 240v planer for years now and decided that it was time to upgrade to a cordless model. Well I wish I'd bought this Makita years ago, I was amazed by how much timber that it was shaving off in a single pass on the oak door that I was working on. I should've bought this Makita years ago! My only criticism is the groove in the soleplate for shamfering - it is a little on the deep side. I set the depth to 0mm thinking that it would only take the burrs off the edge but it actually shamfered a good few millimeters. You can turn the depth dial down beyond zero (<0mm?) so I think I just need to practice more.

Very easy to use, well worth the money much more effective and versatile than other makes I have used, highly recommended.

This is one of the best battery planers available producing a very smooth finish. Unfortunately this supplier only stocks imperial scale not the advertised metric scale, so it costs more time and 4 to convert to metric. Though it was cheaper than others at the time so maybe that's why.

The cordless plane is well balanced and easy to use. The motor is very good and whilst it's not as powerful as a mains unit it is more than adequate with a decent battery and sharp cutters. The only shame is that the collecting bag is deemed as an accessory which I find ridiculous.
Having had a Makita 1902 240v planer for over 11 years I decided to expand my cordless range. It really is a highly accurate, VERY powerful but smooth & comfortable planer. Owned an exspensive Festool 240v planer (with curly blades but dust escaped the bag attachement!) Makita SERVICE / 3 year warranty is fantastic.
Makita make quality products at a fair price. Planner easy to use, with clear markings on depth of cut. Dust bag is a bit of a let down but connected to a vacuum cleaner for best results.
Brought this for my husbands birthday, he was really pleased with what you get with it and the quality. His not used it yet, but he loves his old one which is a Makita as well. So that’s why I got him a new one.would definitely recommend.
Bought this to replace my old Bosh 18v NiCad battery planer ,as my company now provide me with Makita 18v drills. Much more powerful, as you would expect lithion batteries .Easy depth adjustment and the old bosh dust bags fit ,which is a bonus as there is not one supplied . Overall a very good planer for most joinery jobs.
product was good except the cutting blades needed replacing. not a big issue but should have been done before selling
this makita cordless planer in brilliant, its my first cordless planer and i didn't no what to expect i read some reviews saying "its a great plane", but it really is, its got a good weight to it and its great to handle, i have been using a 4ah battery and the power is brilliant. i needed this plane as i had a job where there was no power and it did amazing. i would recommend this to anyone who is after a cordless planer.
