I've read many reviews and comparison tests on cables, both inexpensive and expensive. The general consensus is, cable quality matters, up to a point. I believe the longer the cable, the more important it is to purchase quality, but, in general, a good inexpensive cable will work as well as an expensive cable. It also depends on usage. I'm not a pro musician so I have no way of judging how well any cable will hold up on the road.I also believe the difference is in one's ear, that is, which cable sounds best to you.The trick is knowing which reasonably priced cable to purchase without spending a small fortune for the sake of comparison. The Planet Waves American Stage Guitar Instrument Cable is a very good, inexpensive cable.I don't see the point of purchasing ... I just received the cable and haven't stopped playing with it since. I compared it to another pro level cable and the difference was amazing. At first, I thought there was something not quite right with my guitar(s) because the sound was so different. You can hear so much more in the high frequencies and there is an ambiance that just isn't there with the other cable. It's like having the reverb on vs the reverb off. There is no muddiness in the sound at all. The frequency response is really even from low to high. I used a Fender Deluxe (tube), and a Peavey Vypyr solid state modeling amp. Both resulted in the same conclusions. The plug design is fantastic. You can feel it snap into position and it is not easy to pull out due to the proper fit of the tip. I was ... I was concerned that the new radius in the tip would allow it to be sloppy but it's perfect. Sounds a bit extreme to review a cable and I have read that they are pretty much the same unless you get a Monster Cable that's designed to accentuate certain frequencies, but I just proved otherwise. I'm not exaggerating when I say all my guitars sound different with this cable. I used an American Strat,Fender Squires, Guild Starfire (humbuckers) and an American G@L ASAT. Once you hear what's missing it would be hard to go back. You've done it. This is the cable I'll be ordering.

This is one of the best instrument cables I have ever purchased. I'm extremely satisfied with this cable and would recommend it to anyone. It has a nice look and is very durable. Sound is excellent as well.
I've been using an American Stage from Amp to pedalboard, and a custom classic series from board to guitar...Been gigging out 8-9 times a month, 3-4 hour shows, practice, and countless hours in worship... These cords are straight up the real deal. Have had zero problems in the past two years with these. Own two American Stage 15', and one Custom Classic 15'. GREAT cables. Buy them now.
I used to go on tube chases and otherwise trying to get back the tone that I knew my amps should have.Yep....It's the cable that i finally get around to replacing that often solves the problems. Cables wear out and drop signal. That's my experience with even 'Lifetime' warranted cables. These Stage cables sound EXCELLENT, and are a cost effective maintenance item to keep your guitar signal lively.....for a while.Because I don't believe ANY cable holds out in the long run.
Very good quality basic instrument cable. Appears to be very neutral and accurate (does not enhance/embellish/diminish/degrade the sound quality of the signal from the instrument to the amplifier). Excellent value.
A very well made product, which provides secure connections.
What can I say, it is a high quality well made guitar cable. The cable has a nice flex to it and isn't too stiff. It coils up well and the attached elastic and clip makes it easy to put away neatly. The connectors are sturdy and seem as of they will last. It is an expensive cable, but I have gone through so many cheaper ones that I think it is probably worth paying more in the long run for something that I trust will last and is a nicer piece of equipment to use.
