A warming heat of cinnamon, brown sugar and clove add a soft spicy style which dominates the palate, concluding to a rum that is rich, warm and potent. Perfect Serve: You’ll be knocked out if you drink this neat so it’s best to add to a rum cocktail. Why not try a Passionfruit Rum Punch or a fruity Daiquiri.

If you're into barrel proof bourbons and whiskies, this is the rum for you. Just add some water like you would with a good barrel proof whiskey and you will discover a rum that you never thought existed.OFTD is intensely oaky and spicy, but at the same time fruity, inherently sweet, and complex. As you continue to sip and add water it keeps on opening up. The finish is long, oaky, and dry. You'll still be tasting it 45 minutes later. With most rums being bottled at a conservative 40 percent, being chill filtered, and being on the sweet side (or "sweetened" side), this is really a breath of fresh air. This is old fashioned as the name says and is more like the rum of the Pirate days. Not everyone is going to appreciate it for what it is, but to lovers of old ... Drank this in dark n stormiest and sipping it neat. In dark n stormies you can taste the rum (in a good way) and feel the heat (I enjoyed it). Sipping it it’s actually quite flavorful. Tastes like weak molasses and a slight caramel flavor. It’s pleasant. Glad I got the bottle and will incorporate it into some more drinks.

Strong, but no funk. Slightly sour - strong flavor. If you don't like to taste the alcohol in your mixed drinks this isn't for you. Not harsh, and in my opinion a better mixer than Wray & Nephew. I've gone through two bottles. It's a favorite.

While primarily a Bourbon drinker, I wanted to expand my options. After watching Black Sails, I figured I would try some Rum. Having read up on British Navy Rum, I decided that I wanted to try some of the stronger ones. While I have had plenty of Bourbons that are over 100 Proof (100 Proof Bottled in Bond is always nice), my initial impression is this is too strong. I typically drink on the rocks. Adding a splash of water helped a bit.I'll keep trying to see what the magic recipe is.
A spectacular overproof dark rum from the Plantation range. Their Old Fashioned Traditional Dark is comprised of a blend of rums distilled in Barbados and contains massive of fruity flavor and garnish notes. This is a must drink RUM to remember what is RUM all about!!
Plantation OFTD is a great cooking rum. Perfect for flaming dishes. As a mixed drink, it is a bit rough due to the alcohol content, but still, it's a pretty good rum. It has a much deeper body than most darker rums and would be a perfect add in when multiple rums are needed in a drink, or, where a dark rum is called for. It is strong, so be careful. Hits like a hammer covered in velvet.
I'll give this two stars for smoothness, but it's a nasty tasting rum overall. Try a Zaya, Zapada or Pyriot for a mellow, smooth rum.
The flavor of this rum is spectacular. It’s smooth enough to have neat and is a quality ingredient in specialty cocktails.
I liked this when it first released but have since used Lemonhart because It was available again. This rum has an overwhelming aftertaste in cocktails that I don’t like. In the overproof class, It’s third in line after Lemonhart 151 and Hamilton 151. There were times when this was the only one available in my area.
Overproof rums tend to be very harsh and only bring the harshness of the spirit. This one provides more character than just the boozy boost of some others
