I absolutely love the color combo on this pen. It really pops. The broad nib highlights ink properties very well and produces a medium broad line. Nothing super thick or thin, just perfect. My other 3776 pens have a medium nib that write very similar to my Montblanc fine nibs. There is nothing wrong with the Platinum medium nibs, I have simply preferred thicker lines as of late. I have used this pen in my rotation and sometimes it doesn't get touched for 2-3 weeks. When I uncap it, it still writes perfectly. No drying out or hard starts.

Everything from the gold to the blue to the nib and the shape is gorgeous on this pen. Very well balanced aesthetic that is interesting without being ostentatious. The UEF nib is a truly unique factory nib, and the Platinum nibs are fast becoming some of my favorite nibs. I have their Music nib that I really like, and the UEF doesn't disappoint either. You *will* get plenty of feedback with this nib, but it glides well, gives you good control, and writes very consistently without being picky. The higher nib stiffness makes it more forgiving to write with and easier to be precise. The super fine nature of the nib means you get a quality of line that you just can't mimic in other nibs without a custom grind, and that in itself makes this pen special. I use my Music nib for my daily writer, but have this pen right next to it in order to make detailings and drawings/illustrations or notes when the big Music nib won't work. The slip and seal mechanism on this pen means that I can use this pen as an auxiliary pen without worrying about the pen drying out, which makes it especially suitable for this use case. The fact that it matches with my Platinum #3776 Music nib so well also helps.

This is my first gold nib pen after a few years of using steel nibs. I did my research very thoroughly, as I wanted a gold nib that looked nice but also had a fine nib for thin writing. I'm so in love! It writes beautifully, with a slight feedback that makes me 'feel' what I'm writing. Not scratchy, but close. Sheening ink still flows, but I do notice it has a tendency to clog slightly, so just something to keep in mind. It is more lightweight than what I had thought, but that has actually come to make the writing experience much better. My hand doesn't tire as easily as with heavier pens, and it's easy to slip it in my pocket, purse, or pen bag. I also like that the extra fine nib doesn't write wet, as it lets me use different inks on bad paper without it bleeding ... MoreThis is my first gold nib pen after a few years of using steel nibs. This was my grail pen. I wanted a pen that was the perfect shade of green, with gold trim and a gold nib. This was it. The green is dark, but not so dark that you can't tell it is green. It's dark enough that you cannot clearly see the pen's inner workings, but translucent enough to catch light just right. I LOVE Platinum nibs. I have a Procyon and a Curidas and I love them both. The fine gold nib does not disappoint. I don't get any line variation, but that's okay, I don't want any. It writes dry, so no smearing, blobs instead of closed-loop letters, or anything distracting to deal with. It works well with some of my wetter inks, particularly the ones that are messy in wetter pens. As always, it was packed with a slightly ridiculous amount of care, a Tootsie Pop ... MoreThis was my grail pen. I wanted a pen that was the perfect shade of green, with gold trim and a gold nib. Everyone should have the privilege of loving their jobs as much as these guys.
Thanks bharath for promptly answering my queries. I ordered this pen along with pilot sterling silver and sailor 1911L ( from william penn ).Unlike pilot this is not that smooth and silky to write , it doesn't have that scratchy feedback like sailor nibs. Overall I found it to be pretty ordinary pen , not worth 20k.Put in some more money to get either pilot or sailor nibs
The conclusion first. The Platinum 3776 puts a fine line of ink on paper, almost without touching. I like the Platinum. not love it, we have come to terms. It is in the collection to stay. What I like. The cap screws on with two turns, the first 1 and 3/4 are loose and the last 1/4 turn is a smooth constant resistance. I am not tempted to torque the cap down to feel safe from the pen opening in a pocket. The fit and finish is excellent.A careful grasp is needed. The grip length is somewhat short from the flare at the nib to the beginning of the cap threads and the cap seat. The writing is smooth for an extra fine nib on smooth paper only. The more texture the paper has the less smooth it becomes. As a left handed writer I push the pen across the paper, a right ... MoreThe conclusion first. The more texture the paper has the less smooth it becomes. As a left handed writer I push the pen across the paper, a right handed pulls the pen aiding smoothness. In fairness, the Platinum writes as smoothly as three other pens in my collection with fine nibs. In general, the wider the nib the smoother the writing.A white pen is rare, no one will mistakenly put it in their pocket thinking it was theirs. Though they will enjoy it even with feeling slightly guilty.
On uncapping, the pen writes instantly and smoothly with noticeable feedback that I like (some people prefer nibs with little or no feedback, but I don't). The fine nib is VERY fine compared to the Lamy Al-Star's fine (apparently this is typical of Japanese vs European nibs) and I needed a couple of days to get used to it; now, however, I prefer it on most papers (like Tomoe River). The cap's threading feels nicely definite, and the last quarter turn as it engages the 'slip-and-seal' mechanism has a satisfying certainty I doubt there's any chance of it accidentally unscrewing and that final feel removes any temptation to overtighten. The cap posts securely, although I prefer to write with the cap not posted. Design is classic and, to my eye, elegant. Capped, the Platinum is the same length as the Lamy Al-Star, but uncapped it's distinctly shorter and feels like a small pen. The only other gold-nib pen I've written with is the Lamy 2000, but I much prefer the way the 3776 writes. Overall, this a wonderful little pen.
I received it promptly! In safe and perfect condition! But I haven't put ink in it yet, so I don't have any answers yet!! I will probably replace the (black?) ink in the cartridge with one of my bottled inks. I do have empty cartridges for this brand, and filled ones, but I haven't decided what color to use! Do you want to send this email back in about a month?!!! I do have white (orange ink) and green with green ink, and quickly bought this one, to get another ultra extra fine nib!! Thank you all for your business! I'm glad you followed God's guidance to grow this business out of your garage!! You must be tithing to be receiving His blessings all these years!!! I'm so glad I found you all, so many years ago!!! That must have been a 'God Thing,' too!!! Thank ... MoreI received it promptly! In safe and perfect condition! I bought this pen in EF, and even though I am usually a big fan of Japanese EF and F nibs, this one is very much a needle and not quite as smooth as I had hoped (maybe if I tune it a bit I can get it to be a bit more pleasant to write with). The acrylic is darker than I expected. The blue is gorgeous when held up to bright light, but in anything dimmer the blue is very hard to discern. For example, in my pen storage box with cream colored inserts the pen appears to be black. That was not what I expected. I have wanted the pen since it came on the market precisely because it is an homage to the blue used in the stained glass windows of Chartres Cathedral in France - a very famous blue that I have loved since I was very young. While I can appreciate that blue when I hold the pen up to the light, it is not possible to write that way! Perhaps if one only uses it outside on sunny days? It's a very nice pen. Platinum pens are great and I have and enjoy several from cheap to shamefully expensive but this one is probably my least favorite of the lot, which doesn't mean it's a bad pen, it's just not one of my more favored pens.
