From the makers of the world's best and oldest fishing line, Platypus Lo-Stretch is a monofilament fishing line that has such low stretch it acts like a braid. The advantage of braid is the incredible sensitivity you get from near zero stretch, and Platypus Lo-Stretch has the lowest stretch possible from a monofilament. By capitalising on new raw material blends and state of the art manufacturing processes they are able to bring you this exceptional line. Some stretch is good, but braid has almost no stretch and although this makes the line incredibly sensitive, it can result in pulled hooks and lost fish. Lo-Stretch gives you the best of both worlds - enough stretch to allow a slight shock absorbing quality, but with minimum stretch for maximum sensitivity. Braided lines have worse knot strength than monofilament, and knots for braids typically require more turns and wraps than regular monofilament line. Knots tied with Lo-Stretch give you 100% knot strength, whereas excellent knots tied in braid give 85% knot strength. Lo-Stretch fishing line is more cost effective than braid, too. Also available in steel blue or pink colour. Fish with the best!

I'm able to throw further with less weight, and i like my bait to move around often resulting in a strike!,more often then being anchored by a heavier weight being used with heavier line.

Bought 500m of 10Kg to prepare my reels for the coming summer,Has a tendency to birds nest a lot on bait caster. Never had this issue with previous other lines Mono or braidWas shocked when I went to make up some rigs with the remaining line at the amount of stretch when pulled between both hands.Supposed to be lo stretch, would be better of with Penn Mariner, a bit thicker for the equivalent rating but far less stretch and at only half the costWonder if the use of the word 'Lo' instead of 'Low' is a way to avoid claims of false statements being made by the manufacturer.

I buy this product to upgrade and replace existing lines as well as assisting family in setting up their fishing equipment. Preferred against braid only because of young children using the gear. Have found the line to be durable in a variety of conditions

This mono line is perfect for beach fishing using an Alvey side cast reel. In this situation Braid doesn't suit unless you don't mind it cutting into your finger - ouch. Lo-Stretch mono is the best of both worlds.
Ordered Sunday night and arrived Thursday arvo. I have used platypus lines for over 25 years, but not the Lo Stretch. I will be using it primarily for beach fishing using Speedmaster 14000 XTC and 12 ft Raider 5-10 kg surf rod. Super excited and looking forward to using this setup. I got the 8kg line and it's very thin for its breaking strain. Love it, thanks BCF.
I have spooled my Alvey 650BERR with 500m of Platypus 10kg lo stretch mono. I have only had one fishing session with it but I have found that it casts very well and is easier to feel the bites. This is the first time that I have used the Lo Stretch line as I usually use Platypus Platinum which I have found to be excellent over the years.
I really like this line. I have respooled nearly all my reels with it now. It is super tough, abrasion resistant and easy to identify on your reels due to its unique colour.
Very good quality Australian made fishing line that i have used for decades. Low diameter, low stretch, supple and good abrasion resistance. No wind knots or complicated knots required. 15kg used for large offshore species snapper, gummy sharks, kingfish etc. Use all other available breaking strains in other locations.
Excellent value for money. In windy conditions holds well and resists twist. I have been a platypus line user for 64 years and cannot see any reason to change.
Bought this mono (8kg and lo stretch) and was bitterly disappointed. Lost 3 decent snapper one after the other after the line snapped one time after another. After the third time and at a loss I grabbed the line between my 2 hands and with a sharp yank it snapped. Did it 2 more times with the same result. Peeled some more line off and had the same result. The line was brand new and the first time I had used it. Unsure if this was a bad batch or performed as it should have and I did something wrong.Took it back and got a full refund after recanting my tale of woe. Staff were excellent as usual and refunded the purchase without fuss. Thanks BCF..
