I have used Platypus mono for 25 years, it has never let me down. When you want a strong knot this just works, when you don't want a birdsnest, it works. Low memory, low twist; and as tough as it needs to be.

In my opinion it has an excellent hand, is fantastically slim in diameter, has brilliant knot-holding capability and I have proven it is highly abrasion resistant. Sick of losing quality fish because you line or leader is not up to snuff? This is a no-brainer. And it made here. WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN !

I didn’t even bother with running a leader on Fraser. Caught many flathead over 60cm and although the line was frayed after a few it never broke. Also it has good feel all the way to the lure.

Good line, easy to tie and have brought in quite a few well-above legal size bream and flathead without any issues. Spooled by BCF and has been great.
The rod is fine have caught fish with it. Just watch out there is no switch on the reel to let it unwind, say you want to re bait your hook. Instead have to loosen the drag to allow more line out. I guess it's what your used to. Not as convenient as shimano rod and reel package I also got from bcf. Cheers
Envy fishing line has the touch, knot strength and excellent abrasion resistance as all Platypus mono is famous for. It's relatively thin diameter ensures i can pack plenty on my Alvey sidecast and spin and still benefit from it's smooth and consistent casting characteristics. It has a balance of sensitivity and stretch, me in touch with my bait/ lure to feel those taps and bites, while absorbing the shock of strikes and hard runs. It's tough abrasion resistance handles the rough and tumble of fishing amongst rocks n snags and the neutral aqua green colour suits a wide variety of water conditions.
Been using platypus for as long as I can remember (40+ years) and not once have I had any problems. I only use mono for bait fishing and the platinum seems to perform really well. Knot strength is really good and it lays out well. Highly recommended.
I consistently buy platypus monofilament line for surf fishing the surf at Northshore Mudjimba and Kawana Beach. I find 12lb line a quality product. It is reasonably priced in comparison to other monofilament lines of a similar nature. The line diameter is compatible to easy casting using my 6 inch Alvey. The line class is a happy medium when catching yellowfin whiting, larger bream, green back dart and the unexpected dusky flathead that often haunt the sand ledges around gutters. The line last quite a long time before line twist becomes annoying. Fishing with minimal weight to allow a drifting bait tends to increase line twist. Even using ball bearing swivels to decrease line twist. A flurocarbon leader of similar line class is also used. Good quality mono. I use it as leader tied onto a brain main line and its been great. Very light and strong line.
Great for Alvey side cast reels. Low stretch ,low visibility. 15 lb ideal for fishing for whiting to tailor. Found 500 yard spools on amazon for the same price as BCF 300 yds. with free post..had to go to BCF as I needed it that weekend. .Need 500 yds for each of my Alveys so used 200 yds of backing line to fill spool.
