I very much enjoyed the original Horizon and while Forbidden West shows flashes of that greatness it is not anywhere near as polished with a lot of traversal glitches and quirks on display. Climbing has also become a chore, surfaces that look like they should be able to be climbed aren't and vice versa, the rope pulley mechanic is also poorly and awkwardly implemented. Aloy also moves somewhat awkwardly now with the mo cap animations with a strange input delay whenever you turn sort of like shes drunk. A lot of fights also feel rather unfair with no way to gradually gain the upper hand against multiple enemies if you get discovered, stick to stealth and if you get caught leg it or you'll get murked.Overall gameplay doesn't feel very balanced with a massive amount ... MoreI very much enjoyed the original Horizon and while Forbidden West shows flashes of that greatness it is not anywhere near as polished with a lot of traversal glitches and quirks on display. Eg; Ropecaster in the original game was certainly OP, instead of hip fire always connecting just adding the need to wait for the shot to have maximum tension for it to latch to armour would have been enough of a nerfing the significantly slower firing rate of the early game versions at least makes the Ropecaster near useless against all but the slowest of enemies. Never in my 27 or so years gaming have I played a sequel that mechanically has taken almost exclusively steps backwards rather than forwards.

I have purchased quite a few collector's editions of games and movies, and this is quite possibly the most impressive one I've ever seen. First off, it is huge! Second, it is amazingly well made. The tremortusk is articulated and has eyes that light up in blue, yellow, and red just like in the game. The inner box is covered in beautiful artwork and is worthy of being displayed by itself. When you pull the top off the box, the inside is a display stand for the tremortusk statue and has a drawer that pulls out containing all of the other items The smaller pieces also look very impressive with a lot of detail. You can tell that they really put a lot of thought into these pieces and made it worth the money. The map and art cards are somewhat of an unnecessary extra, but ... MoreI have purchased quite a few collector's editions of games and movies, and this is quite possibly the most impressive one I've ever seen. It’s a good game but It seems like this game is a step backwards in lots of ways. Even though they have introduced lots of new things, they have taken out important things aswell. The whistle is removed so it’s harder to lure enemies and the long dodge is gone, which makes the combat annoying as it is harder to dodge big enemies. The combat doesn’t seem to be as smooth as the first one and enemies are now really tedious and frustrating to fight, although they have introduced a lot of good moves aswell. You can still get good at the game and have fun but you will probably get slammed around a lot as well.

Horizon Zero Dawn is my favorite game of all time. I played through it twice on the PS 4 and once on the PC. The only game better than this? Horizon Forbidden West!!! I just finished yesterday, and the game is an improvement in every way. I highly recommend you play on the PS5. Combat is better, the graphics are better, the options for taking down machines is better, the armor is more diverse, the gold weapons and armor are worth fighting for, and the cast of character, both good and bad, are worth talking to. After finishing the game, I am doing the few errands and jobs I have left. This particular collector's edition comes with a huge statue of the elephant machine, and although the tusks were very, very hard to get put in place, the end result is awe-inspiring. ... MoreHorizon Zero Dawn is my favorite game of all time. After finishing the game, I am doing the few errands and jobs I have left. This particular collector's edition comes with a huge statue of the elephant machine, and although the tusks were very, very hard to get put in place, the end result is awe-inspiring. The statue is huge. There is only one problem with this entire package: Best Buy promised disks, and it only came with the digital download. I found out this happened everywhere--the publisher simply did not make disks for this collector's edition. This bothered me, but not enough to detract from the overall package and the phenomenal game it came with.
I had expected more to be honest. Some of the plot lines are simply contradictory and unbelievable, the environmental traversal system is ridiculously useless with little to no real fall damage (probably as a result of not working properly), the combat system is largely unworkable and the upgrades and skill matrix systems overly simplistic, narrow and amateurish. If this was the FIRST of its kind I would say it was passable with much fixing required. As a follow-up to a major title - seriously disappointing. Don't buy it - maybe they will release a better one next time but I don't think so. I think this is the end of the title series for me.
Let me preface this review mentioning that I knew when ordering the package did not include a disc. However, while the game is so much fun, and I love it. The lack of a disc started to sink in pretty quickly after opening everything up. Mostly because it includes a steelbook with the game codes, and spots for two discs. I imagine the 90+ GB download that was the digital version, and it including both PS4 and PS5 had something to do with it. But it's still a bit disappointing. At this point that's a minor quibble, the game itself is a great second outing. And the PS5 version looks amazing. There's this odd phenomenon where even though it's obvious they're digital characters. There's this odd phenomenon where even though it's obvious they're digital characters. Guerrilla did something with the mo-cap and animation where things like eyes and mouth movements in character interactions are good enough that my brain forgets about the uncanny valley. It's kind of difficult to explain, but like Pixar animation, etc. there's a quality to the characters that made me consciously think about the fact that I wasn't thinking about anything being off.I'm currently about 3/4 through, I believe, and so far the story is great too. If you're interested in playing Forbidden West I'd suggest playing Zero Dawn if you haven't. But other than that, get this game if you have a PS4 or PS5. You won't regret it.
Good Points: So I bought this as a birthday present for my boyfriend and it literally turned into some kind of mistress that I’d inadvertently invited into our home. He spent hours playing and telling me how beautiful it was. He’d even asked me to watch him discovering this new beautiful adventure. Thankfully I was happy to share his joy as it gave me time to watch Jason Momoa & Lenny Kravitz online, that Lisa Bonet is one lucky lady and sip cold beers in peace. Anyway, game looked amazing and judging by the hours he spent playing it and going ‘oooo’ and ‘ahhhh’, my partner loved it! 10/10 , great game :0)Improvement Points: No, just keep them coming as I’ve got Idris Elba & Ryan Reynolds to check out next. Thanks.
This game is an absolute mess, the controls have gotten way worse, especially when it comes to mount riding, and climbing but overall its just bad controls everwhere, even just walking and fighting. The game throws an abudent amount features, more than half of them you will never use. And there's no story, in Zero Dawn was about Aloy finding out about Elisabeth and her past and as you dig deaper the story got better, but in this game it's just Aloy being a hero and saving everyone's lives, it's your typical MCU movie. All the characters are forgettable and unlikable. Aloy has a tendancy to glitch through mountains and walls and get stuck which forces you to start over and there are quests you can't complete, no joke, apprently it's a known bug in the game and the ... MoreThis game is an absolute mess, the controls have gotten way worse, especially when it comes to mount riding, and climbing but overall its just bad controls everwhere, even just walking and fighting. All the characters are forgettable and unlikable. Aloy has a tendancy to glitch through mountains and walls and get stuck which forces you to start over and there are quests you can't complete, no joke, apprently it's a known bug in the game and the devs never addressed this, so if you're a completionist, there are 4 or 5 quests that will stick in your logs as incomplete forever. Overall a huge dissapointenment compared to Zero Dawn. I put Zero Dawn as one of my all time favorites but this game is far from it.
It seems like this game is a step backwards from the first. Even though they have introduced lots of new things, they have foolishly taken out important things aswell. The whistle is removed so it’s harder to lure enemies and the long dodge is gone, which makes the combat annoying. The combat is probably the worst part of the game now, it seems like the developers didn’t understand what made the first one fun, because they made too many changes to the combat system. Enemies are now really tedious and frustrating to fight. You can still get good at it, but for me the first one was much better at combat. I don’t think I want to get another sequel after what they have done to this one.
Sadly the item was terribly shipped. They just slapped the shipping label on the box and called it a day. It arrived unsealed and severely damaged, luckily everything was still inside. The detail on the statues is incredible. The replica focus feels a little cheap but it looks great on display. As for the game, it has been an amazing experience, it looks beautiful on the PS5 and performs excellent. Loved the story even more than the first game. It would've been 5 starts had it not been for the missing physical disc.
