We own nearly every headset on the market, and PSVR 2 is not as good as we were hoping for. The most problematic issue is that their algorithm to do Reprojection is not well done. You can clearly see motion blur, and we first thought it’s a defective device. Developers can choose to not use it, but all the major titles actually use it to not worry too much about optimization. It creates motion sickness for me especially if you look at anything close like your hands, and feels a lot worse compared to valves ASW tech. The game it comes with (Horizon) is very beautiful to look at but gameplay wise it doesn’t deliver definitely for the price. The climbing mechanic has also been done a lot better by the climb in terms of gameplay mechanics. The combat also feels more like a QuickTime event from the old days compared to the more involved combat of saints and sinners or similar. Advice would be to wait and see if it will sell well enough and if more titles will come out before purchasing it.

There were a couple of times I was floored by using the VR headset, for example looking at cars in the Showroom in Gran Turismo 7. I could write a 10 page essay on what I like and didn't like but I will try to keep it short. What is nice is the headset plugs into the front USB-C plug and leaves the USB on the front of the system open, say to plug in a racing wheel. This was a major concern for me so I was pleasantly surprised. The setup of the VR is so impressive (marking your play area), you feel like Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn when she discovers her tech, and is worth the buying price of PSVR 2 alone. I am really impressed by the whole thing. Makes me feel like a kid again when I received my SNES. I have played Gran Turismo 7 and Kayak VR. Gran Turismo 7 is easy to ... I can't understand how to use the Kayak expertly and other people are a lot better than me. Kayak VR is still impressive, they start you of in a pool, but the controls were difficult for me. As far as games I own are concerned, I still have Cities VR and Job Simulator to try. All my time has been in GT7, YouTube, and enjoying the setup process trying to get the perfect picture. Negatives of the headset, it is easy to plug and play, but adjusting the goggles for the best view takes some work. I suppose a 13 year old could do it, but sometimes even I a 40 year old man of average plus intelligence struggled to make it work. I did make it work though. I was looking forward to Jaunt from the original PSVR, but they call it RAD now and for me it doesn't do VR mode. People say Sony will fix this. Not everything is 4K either but for a VR headset it is tolerable. For example, GT7 may not always be in 4K when racing but it looks better and is actually enjoyable unlike GT Sport on the previous headset. YouTube is great with PSVR2 because it simulates a 90 inch TV or maybe even larger, this is all in 1080p or so quality. Another reason why it is worth the initial price. Overall, love the thing, I see myself spending a lot of time in PSVR2 and I would recommend other people to buy it.

If you're new to the VR world, like me, this headset gives you a chance to experience the latest advances. It is quite a trip, and easy just to just stand and look around and even forget about playing the game itself. The motion is smooth, and colors vibrant. I have Played the Horizon: Call of the Mountain for a while and have enjoyed it. I like looking around so much, I am not even sure what i am doing half the time. A word of caution: If you suffer from motion sickness or are susceptible, then you may find the experience not as pleasing at first. However, you can overcome it with practice. I did, but it took me a few days. Make sure you get the eye tracking and focus right. If things look blurry, try shifting the headset band around and try changing the view ... Stop moving and wait. Do not play if things appear out of focus, this really messes up your eyes. It will take time if you are sensitive. Do NOT try to just 'play through' the motion sickness feelings! It makes it worse, word from the experienced.

I am a first time VR owner, and I must say I have been blown away by so many things. However, here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. Marketing. Sony has some potent marketing skills. While the headset is great, especially by other VR standards, keep your expectations grounded. 2. Photo realistic graphics does not mean photorealistic VR. Despite the panel being marketed as 4k, it is 2k per eye, which while technically 4k, does not fully capture the depth of a 4k image. As well as this, as you are so close to the screen, it will not compare to a 2k 60 inch TV in terms of visual quality. 3. All of the high tech reviewers, while not being paid out for their stellar reviews, do have experience with other headsets, and thus have a grounded sense of the tech. The ... The concern with being a first timer is expecting literal reality, which Sony didn't help with their marketing. With that in mind, the games are incredible, the tracking is consistent, the setup is seamless and certain games are absolutely breathtaking. 4.5/ 5
Pretty surprised at the other low reviews. If VR isn't their thing then fair enough, but unless it's some quirk of the way my head is set up I'm not seeing the lens / screen complaints and I say that as someone that uses a Vive Pro 2 on PC. For a headset powered by a console this is exceedingly clear. I did have bad tracking at first. It's important to be in a bright area (but apparently not sunlit) and the TV will screw with the tracking, but there is a setting the help with that. It's easily the most comfortable headset I've used with good adjustability and quite light as well. Physical lens distance adjustment is a big improvement from the OG model. Passthrough is pretty slick as well. Good enough that I can read a text with the headset on if I'm determined to. ... MorePretty surprised at the other low reviews. Unless you own a suitable set (there's enough clearance for Sony's Pulse 3D headphones) I'd factor them into the cost as the visual immersion is ruined by headphones I'd be upset at paying $2 for. Overall I think this is a very good headset for the price and at time of posting the main letdown is lack of solid games in VR.
Anyone who complains about the PSVR2 either hasn’t followed the instructions properly or simply doesn’t understand how to use it. If you enjoyed the original PSVR1 but found yourself frustrated by bulky cables, switch boxes, poor image quality and constant motion sickness would be amazed by this piece of kit. A single USB-c cable plugged into the front of your PS5 and away you go. Even the quick and easy setup highlights the extraordinary technology and features of this device. The image quality is easily double that of the original PSVR. Car interiors so real You feel like you could reach out and touch them. GT7 was an immersive and extraordinarily realistic experience. First off, I grew up on NES all the way up to PS5 as I approach my 40's. I'm not complaining about the price after I actually played it for a few days. Games played: Gran Tourismo 7 No Mans Sky Resident Evil Village Resident Evil is by far the best game I've played out of the 3. It's scary, graphics are amazing as you make your way through a forest with flashlight in hand. The VR tutorial for using guns is very cool although the graphics need some fine tuning as you look down the scope and fire off a few shots. I've had this game for months and I'm finally playing it thanks to VR No Mans Sky doesn't make sense to me at this point based on my experience. I could not walk anywhere and had to hold the L1 button to leap forward. Almost like using Google Street view to find a particular address. Frustrating. The in-ship experience however is worth trying Gran Tourismo 7 is just a beautiful game and what racing games should be. Crisp 4K graphics and just a fun game to play. Light reflecting off the steering wheel, looking back at the driver behind you. Incredible The headset is very comfortable and fits snuggly to my face along with the headphones that are quite decent quality in my opinion. The initial setup of the VR set already blew me away. Scanning my playing area and then being able to custom set the area myself with the controllers to maximize the play area. The cord is not very long and I would suggest getting a C-Type 3.1 extension to really maximize the freedom to move around. The controllers take some getting used to and some games like GT7 only allow the dual sense controller You need a bright enough screen and room to play. I use my basement space and had to open up the blinds because the VR system would pause the game and send out a warning about not being able to find the headset. Not a big deal but something to consider Best Buy does not allow returns and only exchange or store credit. Keep that in mind as you make your decision. Amazon has no such restrictions
So we have to start our VR library all over again but the upgrade is going to be worth it and perhaps if we are lucky the upgrade price from PSVR to PSVR2 won't be a lot; better graphics, better controls, faster FPS, I am hoping to get resident evil 4 on psvr2 all because of the better controllers. Horizon call of the mountain is so much better than having to upgrade my gaming pc to handle the graphics. I don't have to fiddle around with my PC to make my VR to run. No drops in FPS especially on Gran Turismo 7, just turn it on and every VR games just works.. no fiddling around with connecting to the PC which just upgraded itself to windows 13 and nothing works anymore. I have a GT racing cockpit with a GT Thrustmaster steering wheel and pedals that matches with the GT7 VR game. I waited 7 years for this and today my PSVR2 arrives. If you are going to get any VR headset, this is the one you have been waiting for and nothing in the market will beat it. Better than Quest pro and quest with PC.
PSVR1 owner here. Picked this up on launch day and both myself and my son are impressed on how much better this is. Controllers are a massive improvement over the old PS Move controllers. Image is nice and bright, clarity is crisp, colors really vibrant. Its important that you take the time to figure out how to wear it on your head properly or you may have blurriness or chromatic aberration (purple fringing). Its not a daunting procedure and both my 11 yr old son and I figured it out for ourselves in under a minute. The eye tracking is really cool and works great. Very simple to set up. Something as simple as selecting menu items by simply looking at it really makes it feel next gen. I have no complaints really. Not even the fact that it has a cord to connect to ... Having the power of the PS5 do the heavy lifting results in way better graphics than you can achieve with a mobile CPU built into the headset. Overall very happy with PSVR2 and would definitely recommend. PS - something I don't see much about on reviews: Adjusting the IPD (distance between your eyes) with the wheel on the headset is fast and easy when swapping the headset between users. (aka without changing ps5 profiles). Just double press the ps button on the sense controller and pick "adjust visibility". This will rerun the graphical setup for adjusting the IPD. Fast and easy.
Utterly disappointing and not fit for purpose. The image quality is horrendous, it's a blurry, grainy, washed out, colour bleeding mess. So much so that it's impossible to immerse oneself in the experience or even read text for that matter. It's just bad, really bad. The headset is extremely uncomfortable with rigid pieces of plastic indenting themselves into your forehead and nose. There's no padding to prevent this, just a horrible thoughtless design. The included earohones are garbage. You can circumvent this with over ear headphones however this adds to the already heavy, fatiguing, sweat inducing headset issues. Controllers need charging within a small handful of hours. The head tracking is constantly lost, pulling you out of a game every few minutes and ... MoreUtterly disappointing and not fit for purpose. Sony has served a discredit to the VR world, possibly enough so to push it out of existance entirely. If this is the peak of VR gaming then we. are truly 10 to 12 years away from a usable experience. Unless you enjoy that sinking feeling of wasting a large sum of money, stay away.
