I honestly don't know how this is such a highly awarded and popular product. It was such a big purchase for us and I was so disappointed with the quality. Very few holes are pre drilled and pieces are either too long or too short so it requires some carpentry skills to modify it so it (sort of) lines up. I read a review (after purchasing) that the man would rather be waterboarded than try and put together another one and that was my husbands exact experience. Our son loves it and it's well used, so worth the hassle in the end.

If you’re not a professional carpenter do not purchase. Might be great when finished if you get that far, but will drive you totally insane. I’ve heard it won design awards. for a consumer product, isn’t part of a great design a nice simple assembly? An elegant well thought out plan? It feels someone drew this in CAD with zero regard for how it would come together for the unsuspecting consumer. Will not buy this company again.

A fantastic outdoor toy for young children. The quality is excellent and my husband put it together by himself in less than 2 hours. It is large enough (you can use both sides) for 4 children to use as it can accommodate 2 at the easel and two in the kitchen. My four year old and one year old love it, although the one year old isn’t quite tall enough to reach the kitchen yet. The accessories that come with it are very good quality and make it a brilliant gift if you want to keep children occupied outside. I would definitely recommend this and I would shop more Plum products in the future.
We bought the mud kitchen for our son's 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it. He spends hours filling the bowl with soil, making mud, pouring water in and "painting" on the perspex! It is such a great toy, the only issue is it did take quite a while to set up - but you just need to set some time aside to do this!

For example, the pre-drilled holes for bolts had splinters coming off and hadn't been finished at all - not good for small fingers. There were also quite a few chips off the wood (such as the front leg). It was also a shame that the identification numbers on the parts are painted on and visible when it is constructed, as we will have to sand these off as it looks quite rubbish seeing these. And the plant pot holder doesn't quite fit in the gap that it is supposed to, it is too large. We can fix these things, but we shouldn't have to really. I would have returned it once we discovered the chips, but by then we had no time to replace the item for our daughter's ... More3/5. I was hoping to be able to put this together easily on my own but as the pieces weren't cut well it meant I had to get my husband to come and help put it together with quite a lot of effort. Many of the pieces weren't squared properly which meant they did not sit together and we had to improvise.

This mud kitchen is pretty adorable. Our kids ran right up to it and fell in love right away, I'm so glad we got it! I see a number of folks complaining about the assembly, but I found the instructions to be spot on and very helpful. Took me about 2.5 - 3 hours to assemble. After putting together our kids' wood playground, this thing is a walk in the park ;)
Package arrived quickly after ordering.Some of the larger wood pieces were uneven (must have been wet prior) and there are no pre-drilled holes in the larger pieces which was very annoying.The smaller pieces that were pre-drilled, didn’t match up.Took longer than 3hrs to build, easy to put together, but trying to match everything up was hard as it didn’t fit properly. We ended up drilling different holes to make it fit.It says you only need a screwdriver - use a drill!My boys love it, so that’s the main thing. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
