2022 Siskiu T8 = hoot and holler!!!

I've been predominately a roadie for the last 15 years, and as that's where the majority of my cycling budget goes, I just couldn't justify spending a major amount on an MTB when I rekindled a 30 year love of MTBing to ride with my son (while he still wants to spend time with his dad!). I'd been researching a new MTB for a while (and yes, waaay over-researching), but having read a lot of reviews, and watched a lot of yUotUbe vids, I was pretty well set on the T8 for its overall package and price. As others have noted, and yes it's a first world problem when compared with what else is happening in the world at the moment, but the difficulty in ordering a Large has been quite frustrating. It seems that every time I received a notification email to say stock was in, it was sold out within minutes. Maybe giving people a better idea of when, and also how many would actually be landing, would be of more use as a pre-order scenario.Anyhow, I eventually got to place an order from Melbourne, Australia on a Wednesday night, and the bike had arrived at the front door by lunchtime on the Friday!!! Outstanding .The bike was well boxed, and although I had all my own tools ready to go, when I opened up the packaging, pretty much every tool you needed was supplied! Nice touch. All the padding had done it’s thing, and neither a scratch nor issue was identified, and the bike was pretty quickly assembled (just had to put the wheels on, position the seatpost and attach the bars = simples!). The only thing I changed straight away was the position of the brakes and shifters i.e. I swapped the order around, to place the brake levers closer to the stem on the RHS. This gave me a better one-finger reach on the brake lever, as well as positioning the thumb-shifters in a more ergo position.Setup was pretty straightforward, and thanks to old mate at Trail Talk MTB (who happens to be my height and weight), I was even able to dial-in the fork and shock pressure/rebound pretty close.Unfortunately I didn’t get any opportunity for a bedding-in ride before heading straight up to Mt Buller for the Easter long weekend! Great planning there…. However, the bike rode like a dream both up hills and down dales. I was comfy and well balanced and there’s not much that I’d change at the moment…...Overall, a great purchasing experience, and the purple colour really looks the business in the sun!!!Thanks bicyclesonline

I already reviewed the super-fast ordering and delivery process, but let me reiterate 10 (business) DAYS and I had the T8 under my butt. When I looked at the comparably priced Trek Fuel EX5, I'd have to spend a ton of $$ to get tubeless wheels alone, plus the fork, shock, tires, and drivetrain were a lower spec. Months later, still not in stock, similarly with other brands. Now that I've had several rides on the T8, I'm thrilled with the way it rides. I bought a Medium 27.5. While the trend is 29 on many new bikes, I think it's better to maintain playfulness unless you're a fast and gnarly downhiller. For a 60yo pedaler, climbing is key. The geo and the drivetrain work very efficiently and shift under pressure when needed. The big 2.6 tires I really like, but thought felt bouncy, so when I converted to tubeless, I added the Cushcore inserts, which I'm loving. The Schwalbe Hans Dampf are perfect for the East Coast. I recommend a bike shop do the conversion/inserts. The only issue I had was getting the air bubbles out of the brake lines. Did several lever bleeds to no avail. Had the bike shop do it along with the tubeless conversion.Upgrades:Tubeless conversion with Cushcore inserts (less bouncy), Stem, PNW Dropper Lever, OneUp Composite Pedals, Trail One grips, OneUp carbon handlebars, Shimano Chain, Ergon SMC Sport Gel saddle, 3M paint protection tape,Plus: Kuat Bike rack, Kryptonite NY U-Lock and Chain Lock, Songmics Bike stand.

Amazing bike. Especially for the price!

I'll admit - I looked at Polygon as almost all the local dealers were out of Mtn bike supply - and prices had skyrocket (thanks Covid). Due to the same supply issues the cycle took a couple months to get delivered. No stress tho, I ordered it mid Feb 2021 and it showed up in Mid-may about 4 weeks before expected. I live in Portland - and have taken it out on some solid trails along the Cascades and Coastal range. Before my first ride, I was bit uncertain about the big nobby Schwalbe tires - but, I've been able to maneuver them well through uphill switchbacks and challenging downhill terrain. Tail slid out a bit, but then the tires bit in well to keep me from fishtailing off the trail. Bikesonline takes your height and weigh upon order and tune it for you. I haven't had to adjust anything related to the shocks since I got the bike. I thought the box delivery was well thought out - assembly took about an hour for me (May have taken a bit longer because I was oogling, having some beers and dancing in excitement during it.) If you've ever used tools - you should be able to assemble it. It did take me a few ride to dial in my handlebars and seat to the location I wanted. Dropper post has been stellar - and I don't recommend anyone to ride mountains without one. I also have been using the pedals it came with - they seem fine -- I may upgrade sometime --- but I should probably get proper mtn bike shoes first. Brakes work well (although I may consider upgrading in the future, TBD) and it's hard to beat the SLX groupset for the price. SLX is about as reliable as you can get - more expensive groupsets are not necessarily more reliable - just lighter -- I'd say moving up in the Shimano hierarchy are moreso for more pro level riders, or people who like to overcompensate (way too many people - especially dudes land in this realm). I will admit sometimes, I'm hammering on the gears as the terrain changes so quickly in the Cascades - they've been really great and felt solid. The bike has more than enough travel for the mountains - and I do some downhill rides. Overall, I've been super happy with the bike and totally recommend it.By the way - I really like Marin bike and am pretty happy the Bikesonline is selling them now too!

Bang for the buck!

Great bike, easy to assemble. Coming from a 2013 Giant Trance X 29er. I was considering the T8 or the Canyon Neuron 6 AL that has a very similar spec, but slightly less progressive geo. The new slack geo on the T8 is so much more stable. Climbing isn't as efficient but it's not bad by any means. I'm 6', 200lbs and it fits me well. Climbs good, descends amazingly well. I added volume spacers in the front (2) and stepped up the size in the DPS shock. That works better for me but the DPS needed it more than the 34 float up front. The brakes are good for me but I do prefer 1 finger and these are really geared for 2 finger use due to the size of the levers. Braking power is good though. I think the only other things I may adjust would be maybe a slightly narrower bar with more rise and I may consider different tires. The stock Hans Dampf are really grippy...maybe too much that it's dragging a bit on climbs. Overall, this package is an amazing value for an outstanding trail bike.

Budget Friendly Full Susp. 29er!
9 January 2023

In purchasing my 2022 Polygon Siskiu D6, admittedly, I was a little apprehensive... Could a "budget bike," like this one, compete with models from the "name-brand" companies?? Is this too good to be true? Is it a bad move to spend this much money on a "no name"? (The bike may be a steal price-wise, but still is a lot of money to "take a chance on").Perhaps you had similar thoughts as those I share above.Looking for a full suspension 29er, I was aware that I would likely break the bank to purchase a entry-level high-quality mountain bike - finding the Polygon, I was delighted at the quality of equipment for the price point. It almost seemed too good to be true!I've only ridden about 200 miles on the bike so far but, in total honesty, I am completely blown away. ... MoreIn purchasing my 2022 Polygon Siskiu D6, admittedly, I was a little apprehensive... However, am I happy to save myself money and support an alternative company that makes high quality products for a more affordable price point? Absolutely.Do yourself a favor and save the cash by purchasing a Polygon. You will not be disappointed.Keep shreddin'!

Got a Medium and a Large 29ers
7 July 2021

First off, let me start with stating why 5 stars, and this was based on my expectation after researching online for many different brands and models in the 2k-3k range. I knew from research what the short comings of the siskiu t7 could be, and thru this review ill hopefully clearly detail what I found out.Riding Experience: 39 y/o, Intermediate, Mostly blue trails, DH bikeparks, maybe 5 feet off the ground jumps... you get the idea.I got a Medium 29 for my wife and a Large 29 for myself,Received them earlier than the ship date I was expecting, and the medium came to my door 2 days before the Large.M size: Got it out of the box, frame, handle bar and tire well package, with some show of a long journey on the box, the small box inside with the tools and bits ... MoreFirst off, let me start with stating why 5 stars, and this was based on my expectation after researching online for many different brands and models in the 2k-3k range. I knew from research what the short comings of the siskiu t7 could be, and thru this review ill hopefully clearly detail what I found out.Riding Experience: 39 y/o, Intermediate, Mostly blue trails, DH bikeparks, maybe 5 feet off the ground jumps... you get the idea.I got a Medium 29 for my wife and a Large 29 for myself,Received them earlier than the ship date I was expecting, and the medium came to my door 2 days before the Large.M size: Got it out of the box, frame, handle bar and tire well package, with some show of a long journey on the box, the small box inside with the tools and bits was open (I'd guess customs), and some of the tools were lying on the bottom of the bike box, gladly none got out thru the holes the bike box had, everything was in the package. The bike looks stunning, the colors are sharp and looks better on the trails. It came with the Schwalbe tires, no dings on the frame, cable management is a little off, brakes, shifter and dropper post wire are longer than needed, it makes a big mess in front of the bike, and consider I did pull them into the frame a little more from the opposite side just to shorten some of the slack in front of the bike.I got the bike assemble in about 40 minutes, I do have basic bike tools and knowledge, and I consider that it took me longer cause I was just salivating too much at the bike we just got for such price. The Size M seems on par with many other modern bikes sized M, so following the size chart on the siskiu t7 page should get you where you want. My wife is 1 inch shorter than the minimum recommended, but she wanted to go with the 29er, and you cant get an S on 29's on this model. The bike fits her well after a few arrangements. The suspension has more than enough travel for blue trails here in Texas, we have 3 rides on the bike and have been fine tuning just small things, like brake levers and shifter positions, really after setting up the suspension there's not much you need to do to the bike to make it feel the way you want. The brakes are there, nothing to call home about. We went tubeless, and on this Schwabel tires that was a breeze with a floor pump.the bike has developed a "squeeching" sound in the last ride, which I suspect is coming from one of the rear suspension joints, I will be researching and I think is not a big deal to get that fixed. Now to the frame, already stated the colors are great, and in my simple words, the frame looks like any of the "famous" brands out there, thou it is a trail bike, I would call it an enduro/trail bike, the shapes of the bars and the geometry its on par with bikes in the higher price range. My wife and I agreed that as soon as you get on it, it gives you the confidence that it will take whatever you can throw at it.Now the things I expected from research and how I would describe them after getting the bike:The weight: I expected a Heavy bike, The price of the bike can get you so far, and Polygon did a good job on distributing that budged into the things that matter, the frame itself is light and robust..., add the suspension, heavy rims, heavy crank, and the bike starts to get a little soggy, but again, these are part that you should think on upgrading later on, as you are getting a solid frame that can last you for over 5 years.I expected a long travel suspension, but not a smooth suspension: The Recon shock will do the job, you will not feel like youre riding on a cloud, more like youre riding on carpet.I expected good brakes: and this is exactly what I got, the brakes do what you need them to do, if you want more stopping power, shorter levers, think about upgrading later. The dropper post!! : again another part of the bike where Polygon did a great job on including in this bike for the budget. and just like the brakes and suspension, is there to do the job, if you have tried a higher priced dropper post, you can feel the difference on the friction of the post while going up or down, and the lever mechanics are not as smooth, other than that, it does what it should do.Il will keep riding and in a month or so I will post on a review for my Large size, since thats the one I ride, I will be more detailed on bike handle nuances, but i need a few more miles on it to be able to put into words what the bike does.If you are in the 2k budget, I can describe the Siskiu t7 as " A solid bike" thou i would like to just call it a "STRONG bike"Hope you enjoy this review and if you have any question, hit me up, I will try to answer as clearly as possible.

Great Bike!

This is my first "modern-geometry" mountain bike (my only other mountain bike was circa 1996) and I’m quite pleased with the overall package. I compared the geometry with Trek Fuel EX5 Get 5 (ML) and Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy (S4). The sizing wizard at BikesOnline suggested size “L” for the Siskiu T7 and I’m pleased with the fit. While the bike feels large (ie long wheel base), wide hand positions on the handle bars, and height above ground, it is still nimble for cornering—I was pleasantly surprised. I’d say this bike compares favorably with both models mentioned above and is by far a better value. I consulted BikesOnline twice (via phone and via online chat) and they were helpful. I’d say the damage would have been worse had it not been for the excellent packing of the bike by BikesOnline. All in all, I’m pleased with these purchases and with BikesOnline. Will buy again from them in the future.

1 July 2022

Overall The bike is nice. Was expecting a much lighter bike for the price. Weight slows the bike down making it less playful. Huge tires look great but are heavy. it's a little clunky too at first but that wears off. The bike arrived packaged and ready to go with only a few installation steps which made the setup so easy. That experience was amazing. The bike comes with all the necessary tools you need to set up the bike. It's already tuned and ready to ride. Thank you for that. I've purchased from another online supplier and I had to get the tuned and setup by a local shop. Didn't have to this time. The bike I bought from the other guy was a lot cheaper and is a far superior bike. The only advantage my polygon T7 has over my other bike is the paint job. Love the bike, but not the brakes

I have to qualify first off that I have not seriously ridden or purchased a new mountain bike since my high school days when I had a '96 Univega. That said, I did a ton of research before landing on this Polygon, and it was definitely a great choice. While I've only ridden it twice so far, the bike performs well beyond my capabilities, and it's so forgiving in terms of its ability to roll over gnarly rocks and logs without throwing me, despite my incredibly rusty technique. The suspension is fantastic, and enabled me to ride longer than I otherwise would have because it absorbed all the abuse without sacrificing any pedaling efficiency. The suspension is fantastic, and enabled me to ride longer than I otherwise would have because it absorbed all the abuse without sacrificing any pedaling efficiency. I love the single front sprocket setup, the look is great, the wheels are amazing, and the dropper post is such a cool thing to have out of the box.I will say that installing said dropper post was a pain and required a bit of plastic trimming to get the cable end in, and I had to tune the gears a bit, but otherwise assembly was no problem and everything arrived in perfect condition. I did put old school toe clip pedals on because I'm not used to platform riding, though I will try more of it.The only real complaint I have so far is that on a fairly long decent, the amount of force required for braking got tiresome, I needed three fingers more often than I'd like give the technical nature of the trail, and the brakes started fading and making some noise near the bottom. I do expect brake performance to suffer a bit on hard downhills, but these Tektros definitely don't feel on par with the quality and performance of the rest of the bike, and the added fatigue I experienced from braking cut my riding day a bit shorter than I'd like. I don't think there's any specific mechanical problem with the brakes, they just aren't as good as they should be for a bike of this level. I hope Polygon picks a better spec on future models.I will say that my commuter bike that has one Tektro hydraulic disc (front) and one Shimano (rear), definitely feels better on the Shimano. Granted they may be different levels or ages of brakes, but even with new pads, the Tektro feels quite inferior.

love the bike

I love my bike, but it came with some issues. the delivery was late, not a big deal since I was not going to be riding it right away. It came well packed and everything accounted for. However I could not assemble it because the stem was stripped and I had to purchase a new one. Started riding in march thought I would run the chain on it since compatibility is confirmed by KMC, (wrong!) chews up drivetrain. Buy a Shimano chain. The other initial purchases are preferences not necessity so I'll not mention them. I also purchased four (4) pairs of Entity brand brake pads. When time came to replace the first pair they got stuck in the caliper and had to be destroyed to get them out. If you buy these pads you will need to file them down on the ends to fit.On to the ride, ... MoreI love my bike, but it came with some issues. the delivery was late, not a big deal since I was not going to be riding it right away. It climbs like a goat and inspires on the way down. I was skeptical about the wheelset but they have held up to some real abuse.Bottom line, great deal on a great bike. Looking at the Trid for my next ride, we'll see
