A sudden outbreak of fin and tail rot affected my tank of ryukin goldfish.Noticeable healing occurred after only 2 days. This was used in conjunction with Pimafix. After only 5 days, all affected goldfish were healed completely.\n\nBoth Melafix and Pimafix have a very minty-like, almost floral smell.Moderate bubbling will occurr, but dissipates after about half an hour or so.\n\nOverall excellent

I use this when introducing new fish to the ponds. Works great on healing fish also if one gets a wound or sore. Have used for several years combined with Pima fix and medicated food.
I have been using both the melafix and pimafix with each other at half doses each week and see noticeable difference. I say in about 4 weeks time all cured. Will continue to use at least once a month for preventive maintenance of pond. Only causing foaming for about 2 hours after putting in pond. Good stuff
MelaFix is probably the best option for koi bacterial infections now that you cannot get true antibiotics for koi treatment. I had several koi developing red fins and after a round of treatment with MelaFix, they are all good now. There was no harm or problem caused by the treatment, and the koi that were not sick did not seem to mind.
I am a skeptic about things like this. Fish antibiotics are no longer available unless your vet treats fish and will inject them, so I had no choice, really. 4 of my fish had developed red gills and nasty ulcers on their gills and a few on the body. First, I tried numerous water changes, though the ammonia level was fine. Salt baths came next. Then I treated for possible internal parasites. Still, they ulcers remained. 3rd day of MelaFix I started seeing the ulcers improve. 4th day and they were healing. I'm on the 6th day now, and the improvement is amazing. I'm ordering more of this to keep on hand. I suspect birds bathing in our pond are bringing in some form of bacteria. I am so grateful this natural remedy worked! Anytime one of my fish starts looking a little sick, I use both Melafix and Pimafix,, which is totally fine. You don't have to do a water change every day like a lot of other meds. It works wonders on any fish that might have gotten nipped. Also great for adding to tank when putting in new fish. You can even use it with snails in the tank. Didn't loose any snails.
I use to catch the sick koi in my pond to treat them in a aquarium in the house. Due to some water quality issues and algae I had two koi die and a number of others come down with bacterial/fungus infections, to many koi to catch and treat inside. I purchased the large sized Melafix from Drs Foster and Smith and treated them in my 2000 gallon pond. I followed the directions and treated them for Seven days. I am happy to say that all of my fish are now happy and healthy. Love this product, and so easy to use.
I was not as impressed with the pimafix. My fish had cotton spots on them and bleeding under the skin by fins at the beginning, I used the Pima fix first.... After loosing several fish I went to Milafix had some....results BUT the best of all was SALT. That seemed to heal everything. I will still keep the pima & mila fix on hand.
