Porlex Mini has set new standards for portable hand coffee grinders. The grinder leaves no doubt as to its perfect fit, finish and functionality. It is elegant, beautifully designed and well built. The entire casing is made of stainless steel and, what is important, it is equipped with ceramic burrs. It weighs 236 g only, but in this case, less is more. Its narrow cylindrical shape perfectly fits your hand which allows for grinding in a very natural way. Adjustable grinding provides excellent consistency of ground coffee, so you can grind coffee for both espresso and French Press. The grinder holds 26 g of coffee. An additional advantage of the grinder is that it fits in an Aeropress!

This is great item, I have only been using for a few weeks though, so need to see how it holds up over time. The grind side adjustment works really well One comment is probably get the long version, this version can only really grind enough coffee for one person. This is fine for me but might be helpful to know this.

Bought this to use with my Aeropress. Was using a cheaper grinder, from China, bought off Amazon. The quality of the Porlex Mini II is far superior to the Chinese one.I'm using it for a fine grind for an expresso like extraction with the Fellow Prismo. The grind is consistent with the Porlex, where as the Chinese one isn't. Could have bought off Amazon, but try to buy Canadian, when I can. So this and the Aeropress will be going with me when I go solo motorcycle camping this summer. If the wife comes along and I bring the french press will be purchasing the Porlex Tall, as the mini only does 20 grams at a time, and the tall does 30.

Everything about the Porlex Grinder screams attention to detail, every part of seems to be built really well. Even the boxing is really aesthetically pleasing. Before buying I was curious if it would make ample grinds for a really strong coffee and it seems to make plenty for me without even packing it completely full of beans. The actual grind is a bit of a workout, but worth the effort. The only thing I can really fault about it is how the handle slots onto the top - it's a bit loose and will probably warp over time. A great update for the future could be a magnetic or screw on handle

This little grinder is stepped for consistent results from its ceramic burrs. Its metal construction makes for a robust unit that is easy to clean and pour the grinds into your brewer. The removeable handle, with its inbuilt rubber band, makes it truly portable. Although a small hopper, it can grind a double shot easily. We have made this an integral part of our grey nomad morning coffee fix.
This is my first coffee grinder, so I have no others to compare to.However I did spent a couple weeks doing my research and chatting up with my neighborhood barista, before deciding on Porlex MIni IIProduct is small and light, got a pretty good grip to it, easy to clean. Living up to its name: Made in JapanI have been using this everyday for espresso, it took a while for me to familiarize with the adjustment knob, but you will get used to the "how tight it should be before I start clicking" before you know it, just don't go all crossfit strength on it ofcourse. The espresso grind is consistent enough, I don't taste any / much difference in my daily cup of flat white. Strongly recommended!
I’ve always used a “grinder”with blades which actually chops the beans.Having used the true grinder where the beans are ground using ceramics plates as in the Porlex the coffee is tastier, more wholesome flavour and consistent in grind size in each batch. I wish I had known this years ago, what a difference this makes to brewing a good coffee.
To cut it short, this is a wonderful product that I'm planning on buying more of for the purpose of gifts to friends and family. For a little bit longer; this house has a few coffee drinkers. The Porlex has proven to be extremely effective in how much it improves the overall enjoyment and experience of the beans. It is used on average 5 times a day and always works well. The adjustment function allows you to get the best extraction from whatever beans you are using for whatever kind of brewing method you most enjoy. As the beans age and loose some of their oils, you can change the grind intensity on the fly to better increase surface area and extract more of what remains. Most definitely this product is recommended.
I have struggled with finding small, compact grinders that are made well and produce exactly the grind I want. The porlex mini II has completely changed that! If I feel like espresso, it can do that for me, if I want drip coffee, it can do that for me. For any situation I find myself in, the porlex mini II has pulled through. I can now enjoy coffee the way I like it without having to spend silly money at cafes. One very happy camper!
I was looking for a hand grinder based on a recommendation from an Italian guy that said hand grinding makes better coffee. He said the electric grinders turn too fast and burn the coffee. I bought this one based on the price, size, and reviews. I brew my coffee in a moka pot, so I also wanted one that could grind fine.Well, turns out he was right. The coffee certainly tastes better using a hand grinder. It is a nice compact unit that fits well in the hand. The grinding process is smooth, and I actually find it a bit therapeutic. It takes under two minutes to grind out about 14 grams. It grinds much finer than my electric model; which Is most likely the main reason for the better taste. The construction of the product is good. Having been in manufacturing I would say it is a bit overpriced. Time will tell as to it’s durability. As of now I am pleased with my purchase and look forward each morning to my new coffee making routine.
Extremely decent entry level grinder it's serving me well, despite a significant variability in grind size. I am getting a lot of fines. That said, if I wanted a really consistent grind size I'd buy something more expensive. Very portable and extremely charming. Good stuff.
