i have read about 50 pages and it is very intricate and very different from the movie. i am finding it hard to read, a bit like Charles Dickens' novels where everything is examined and explained and written about. i will pursue the book and finish it, as i really like the movie. please don't let me turn others off. i am sure the book will be excellent.

I don't know why this says this is a teenage novel. I loved it and I'm well beyond that. This book is romantic, mysterious and beautifully written. I couldn't put it down.

came across the reviews for this book whilst browsing the booktopia bookshelves and just had to comment. One of my all time favourite books- it makes me smile to think of it. Set in 2 different eras, students of literature researching the past and discovering hidden secrets, It is beautifully written and poetic. I read it as an adult - not sure my 15 year old would read it ( although it wouldn't be inappropriate)
