DBZ: KAKAROT is a title best enjoyed as a novelty for what it is, that being an immersive action adventure title set in the Dragonball Z universe and recreating events from the manga/series. However, that doesnt mean its an unmitigated success either. This is not a true open world DBZ rpg, as it was marketed and promised to be. Rather, this is an action rpg that makes compromises at many turns. The largest compromise and most glaring fault of the game is combat. Rather than being open world action combat like it should be, the game jumps into a weird combat phase that suddenly gives you access to your fists and ki and turns the game into an arena fighter (not unlike Xenoverse). Thankfully, I picked the game up cheap, so its been worth the money I paid. Okay, A few things about this particular remote, but I acknowledge that I did not pay enough attention before buying it so some of what I found lacking was my own fault. That being said, here are the pros and cons as I see them: Pros: Gamecube controller layout! Extra purple button to make it more like the joy-cons if you are used to them. Both the C-stick and regular controller stick will click down, (Apparently you need that for some games.) as well as the + - buttons and a home and screenshot button. No batteries needed! The size is about right, the controller is just as responsive as they were on the Gamecube. Or at least as responsive as mine were. The size is about right, the controller is just as responsive as they were on the Gamecube. Or at least as responsive as mine were. I didn't know how much a difference the familiar layout would be until I tested it out and almost broke my classic mode high score almost without really trying. So that was really surprising to me. The cord is nice and long, you don't have to sit too close to the television. And since it is removable, if anything ever happens to the cord, you can get a new one instead of a whole new controller. Cons!: No battery at all! This one is my fault, I thought that these had internal battery packs and the wire was for charging like my big wireless remote with the joycon layout (a Pro Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch) does. Nope. This guy HAS to be plugged in to the dock to work AT ALL and has no wifi/bluetooth connection capabilities that I could find. Related: Unless there is some gadget/adapter I am unaware of, you can only use one of these at a time. Making buying more than one to play with friend/s a useless endeavor. Buttons are on the loud side. I did not think this would be a big deal and maybe it only sounds louder because it's so hollow on the inside, but it is a least as loud as someone typing on an old (Clacky) keyboard with the tall keys instead of the flat newer (usually quieter) keys. If you don't mind or have your tv volume up high enough not to notice, no problem. If you're trying to play quietly and not wake a sleeping baby... well depends on the baby I suppose. The weight, is wrong. I don't have a good enough scale to tell you the exact difference but compared to an original Gamecube controller, it is lacking to say the least. The core buttons themselves (A,B,X,Y) are the only parts that feel the same. The D-pad is bigger but that may not actually be a bad thing the old one dug into my thumb when I had to use it. Probably would feel different if there was anything but a thin board of electronics in there, but there isn't. No smooth finish on the outside, it feels like one of thoseknock-off GC controllers that someone may have bought you as a present because they didn't know any better. It feels cheap. You don't have to push the triggers down very far at all, like less than half the amount compared to an original controller. On the original GC controller, you could pull the trigger down a good way (Like you needed to for super Mario sunshine.) and if you wanted another function pull it down completely until it clicked. That would be impossible with the new product, the triggers act more like buttons than triggers. And on one side I can hear the spring when I use it. There is no rumble, like at all, in fact I was so surprised by this that I went online to research and see if perhaps the ones that were battery powered might be different. Nope! None of the new Gamecube style controllers I could find had rumble, not even the new editions with Pokemon on them! (Does not support HD rumble, IR motion of Amibo NFC) The only advantage of using the battery controllers is that you can have more than 1 connected to the same Switch at a time. Frankly, I find this shocking! What game controllers DON'T have rumble anymore? If something as small as the joycon can rumble why is there nothing in most of these controllers? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. Leaving out such a basic function and charging as much as the originally did. If I had bought one of these brand new from the store and found out how much they were lacking, I would have returned it. I'm astonished that this and all the rest are "Official Nintendo Licensed Products" For shame. So my final opinion is that these were a good idea, but I would be more inclined to actually use them if they had at least rumble or a rechargeable battery pack and wireless connectivity. I may as well have saved myself the trouble and just bought the adapter to use my original Gamecube controllers, at least I already have those! (Which I will be doing shortly)

I received this wired controller for free in exchange for writing this review. My son has just about every Mario game for the Nintendo switch so this controller, designed with the Mario character logo, was immediately loved! The controller is ergonomically designed and very comfortable to play for hours at a time. It's got a usb cord that is 10 foot long and there are no batteries to worry about. I love that this controller has a built-in audio jack so my son can play for hours without disturbing the rest of the family. My son loves this controller, and his buddies love it too!

Receiving this controller free did not, in any way, skew my review of this product. It really is a well made controller from a well-known and respected brand for gaming accessories.
This controller looks amazing. As a huge Mario fan this is definitely a collector for me. As I took it out the box I loved the Mario print on the controller. It's super lightweight! The buttons are smooth when playing. The material of the controller is simple. Feels just plastic. Compared to other controllers I use, this one I want to display in my clear box. I would have wanted it o feel more sturdy, this one feels more fragile. It's great controller for someone starting off. It really brings back childhood memories.
This is one of my favorite controllers of ALL time. I have been playing my Switch for what seems like days and I barely ever have to charge this thing. It connects very easily once juiced up. I am absolutely buying more of these for party games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate so all my friends can come over and we battle it out using these amazing controllers. Thank you, seller, you've brought a ton of joy into my life, ALSO thank you Nintendo for creating such a beautiful controller.
This is a nice looking controller, and perfect for my 5 year old to play with. He loves the Yoshi graphics on it and for the price it is great. The only thing I don’t like is that you can not turn the system on with the controller, even if it is plugged in to the system. I also was annoyed that the cord you use for the controller is a basic micro usb and not the Nintendo style cable. Minor gripes and, for the price, I can’t knock it more than a star. Of course there is also no rumble, but that should be pretty clear from the item description and I wouldn’t expect with a controller at this price point.
Before I review the controller, I'll provide some context to my gaming habits to accurately reflect how this product was used and if any previous biases may exist. I mainly switch off between SSBU, BOTW and fortnite. 99% of the time that I play video games, I use a wireless pro controller while other the 1% of the time, I use the old school gamecube controllers. With that being said, I'll get into the pros and cons.Pros:- Responsive: There is no input lag. The gaming controls felt smooth and responded well in regards to what buttons were being pressed. Normally, third party companies make horrible controllers with a lot of input lag, but this one is surprisingly solid. For PvP games, this is extremely important and I noticed no issues with response time at all.- Design: The design layout/ ergonomic feel of the controller is the exact same as the wireless pro controller so it was easy to get accustomed to. It feels good and fits well in my hands so I can game on it comfortably for hours. As an added bonus, there is a fun and colorful Mario design on the controller as well.- Additional buttons/ paddles: This controller has additional paddles/ buttons on the backhand side. No matter how you hold the controller, those additional buttons are placed in easy to reach/ convenient locations on the controller so they add to your gaming experience to make things easier for you. The buttons work well and are easy to operate.- Mic port: The controller includes a mic port which works surprisingly well. I didnt expect for the controller to have this so this was a nice plus/ surprise.- Wired: This is both a pro and con, but in terms of the pros, this controller will never die on you. This is also most likely the reason why the controller has great responsiveness and no input lag.Cons:- Weight/ finish: This is a personal preference so it may not bothers others as much, but for me the weight of the controller and finish on the surface are issues for me. As mentioned, I'm accustomed to using a wireless pro controller so the PowerA controller is very light in comparison. It feels almost hollow on the inside which makes it extremely light. Also, the finish on the controller's surface is a smooth finish all around. The analog sticks has a hint of rubber feel for additional grip, but it still feels quite slippery.- Buttons: The button clicks are not smooth. It feels cheap and doesn't have a solid feel. The analog sticks are also stiff so for FPS games it's harder to aim on.- Wired: As mentioned before, this is both a pro and con. The cons include the inconvenience of having to plug the controller in. The wire provided is extremely long so it's not too much of an issue if you wish to sit 10 or so feet away, but it simply creates more clutter. The other con of wired controllers is that you have to play on a dock in order to use it. You can't plug it directly into the switch if you wish to take it on the go. Also, the controller has a usb port, which is a bit outdated now that everything is usb-c.All in all, I think this controller is great for the price - especially if you're a casual gamer. Most of the cons listed are personal preferences so they may not be too much of an issue for another person. Overall, since the controller is wired and the price point is less than half of the price for a pro controller, you honestly can't go wrong having the PowerA - whether it's meant as a backup controller or your main controller.
I bought this controller about three weeks ago and I'm already having major drift issues with the left stick. I didn't even use it for the first week I had it because I was still waiting for my Switch to arrive. So two weeks of (admittedly moderate to heavy) use means that every now and then Link (BOTW) moves forward at a stumbling snail's pace instead of full speed or tries to walk towards the camera when the stick is in neutral position. I can fiddle with the stick for a minute to get it back to working for another hour or so before it starts up again. Some might argue that you get what you pay for in this controller, but I went with this controller because even the much more expensive Nintendo Pro controllers have complaints about drift issues. I figured that if I was unlucky enough to get a problem controller, then at least I wouldn't have paid $60 or more for it. I still expected this to last at least 3-4 months. There is a two-year manufacture's warranty apparently, so I may try to work with that, but other's have complained that it's a mess of a company to work with.I will likely give this controller another go (I need to get one before the drift renders my current one unusable) just because it's a quarter of the price of the pro and I don't want to throw extra money towards a controller with similar known issues.
I'm very happy with the look and performance of this controller. It connected immediately to my switch and gave no issues. I mostly used this on Mario Kart. The controls worked smoothly, felt great in my hand, not bulky at all. The cord is 10 feet long, which should work for most. However, my couch was a little close and is difficult with animals, but I can't complain at all aboutbthr length. The controller also has headset input for online play, but I did not test that function.
