My experience with PowerA controllers started with 2 wired controllers I bought at the same time I got my son his switch. Both developed drift within a few months. I bought 2 of these Zelda themed PowerA controllers (I assumed the originals had been a bad batch). Then I contacted PowerA and they sent me 2 replacement controllers for the 2 with drift issues (I thought I was going to have to replace a stick module, but I got replacement controllers instead). So now I had 4 working PowerA controllers... I thought I was good to go. All 4 developed drift within a couple months... That makes a total of 6 controllers, all developing drift within a couple months of very gentle use... The controllers were great for what little time they worked, but this is ridiculous... ... MoreMy experience with PowerA controllers started with 2 wired controllers I bought at the same time I got my son his switch. Controllers should last years, not weeks... The defect is in using inferior parts and placing the onus and hassle of asking for a replacement on customers... That's not customer service, that's very poor business practices... Needless to say... I'm done with PowerA products... Many games are hard enough with a good controller, but add a bad controller and they become frustrating and no longer fun... Gaming should be fun, and companies that want to stay in business protect their name with quality controls instead of whatever this is. There are companies that are making decent joystick modules that don't develop drift... 6 out of 6 developing drift is not bad luck, it's bad quality, or defective design, and that is what PowerA is selling you.

Controller was decent...returned it for a better controller that was on sale, which was the afterglow wired controller. It was a bit pricier (5 dollars more, i think), but it was worth it for 2 reasons for me:1. This PowerA controller has 2 buttons on the back that I often would hit since they are placed on the grips of the controller where my fingers would rest. Hence, any tense or quick moments that occur in my game tends to make me grip the controller tighter, forcing me to press one of the grip buttons. With the Afterglow controller, I do not have this problem.2. The placement of the plus, minus, photo and home buttons on the controller are too confusingly close together; granted, I'm coming primarily from a primarily Xbox player, but I constantly get them ... MoreController was decent...returned it for a better controller that was on sale, which was the afterglow wired controller. Again, the Afterglow controller is preferable because the home and photo button are placed much higher away and further away from the plus and minus buttons on this PowerA Controller.Aside from these 2 reasons/comparisons, this controller was functional and worth it if you are on a very tight budget (under 20 bucks). There were no errors or problems I had with this controller from the 1-2 weeks I was using it (about 20 hours total playtime)

Before I review the controller, I'll provide some context to my gaming habits to accurately reflect how this product was used and if any previous biases may exist. I mainly switch off between SSBU, BOTW and fortnite. 99% of the time that I play video games, I use a wireless pro controller while other the 1% of the time, I use the old school gamecube controllers. With that being said, I'll get into the pros and cons.Pros:- Responsive: There is no input lag. The gaming controls felt smooth and responded well in regards to what buttons were being pressed. Normally, third party companies make horrible controllers with a lot of input lag, but this one is surprisingly solid. For PvP games, this is extremely important and I noticed no issues with response time at all.- ... MoreBefore I review the controller, I'll provide some context to my gaming habits to accurately reflect how this product was used and if any previous biases may exist. Normally, third party companies make horrible controllers with a lot of input lag, but this one is surprisingly solid. For PvP games, this is extremely important and I noticed no issues with response time at all.- Design: The design layout/ ergonomic feel of the controller is the exact same as the wireless pro controller so it was easy to get accustomed to. It feels good and fits well in my hands so I can game on it comfortably for hours. As an added bonus, there is a fun and colorful Mario design on the controller as well.- Additional buttons/ paddles: This controller has additional paddles/ buttons on the backhand side. No matter how you hold the controller, those additional buttons are placed in easy to reach/ convenient locations on the controller so they add to your gaming experience to make things easier for you. The buttons work well and are easy to operate.- Mic port: The controller includes a mic port which works surprisingly well. I didnt expect for the controller to have this so this was a nice plus/ surprise.- Wired: This is both a pro and con, but in terms of the pros, this controller will never die on you. This is also most likely the reason why the controller has great responsiveness and no input lag.Cons:- Weight/ finish: This is a personal preference so it may not bothers others as much, but for me the weight of the controller and finish on the surface are issues for me. As mentioned, I'm accustomed to using a wireless pro controller so the PowerA controller is very light in comparison. It feels almost hollow on the inside which makes it extremely light. Also, the finish on the controller's surface is a smooth finish all around. The analog sticks has a hint of rubber feel for additional grip, but it still feels quite slippery.- Buttons: The button clicks are not smooth. It feels cheap and doesn't have a solid feel. The analog sticks are also stiff so for FPS games it's harder to aim on.- Wired: As mentioned before, this is both a pro and con. The cons include the inconvenience of having to plug the controller in. The wire provided is extremely long so it's not too much of an issue if you wish to sit 10 or so feet away, but it simply creates more clutter. The other con of wired controllers is that you have to play on a dock in order to use it. You can't plug it directly into the switch if you wish to take it on the go. Also, the controller has a usb port, which is a bit outdated now that everything is usb-c.All in all, I think this controller is great for the price - especially if you're a casual gamer. Most of the cons listed are personal preferences so they may not be too much of an issue for another person. Overall, since the controller is wired and the price point is less than half of the price for a pro controller, you honestly can't go wrong having the PowerA - whether it's meant as a backup controller or your main controller.
This is my favorite controller hands down. The RGB is fun and I appreciate that you can turn it off if you want to.There's a good heft to the controller, it doesn't feel flimsy and its great to hold in your hands. The cable is pretty tough (it survived my cat!!).There are two additional buttons on the inner thighs of the controller that you can map to any other button on the controller for easier access. I played elden ring using this and mapped the run/dodge button to this and things got Much easier. The only thing I would say is there is a risk of joystick drift. The controller got knocked off the shelf where I kept it and since then there was a little drift on the controller's left stick.I use this controller for every game I play with a controller (I'm ... MoreThis is my favorite controller hands down. The RGB is fun and I appreciate that you can turn it off if you want to.There's a good heft to the controller, it doesn't feel flimsy and its great to hold in your hands. For the cost, this is a pretty decent controller. It feels good and solid in the hand and the buttons are nice. I think my main issue is that the triggers aren't analog. In other words, they have two positions - either pressed or not. Most triggers will register how far down you have the trigger pressed which is ideal for racing games for instance. The more you press the trigger, the faster the car accelerates. That's not possible with this controller since the triggers are essentially just buttons. This isn't a huge deal for the types of games I'm playing, but it would have been nice to know before purchasing. My other complaint is the cable that comes with the controller is very stiff. This controller is SO CUTE!!!!It's very light and feels a bit hollow, but honestly that just makes it more comfortable to hold. And while at first I thought the re-mapable buttons were a neat feature that I'd likely never actually use, I was dead wrong. They are super useful, especially if you have issues with certain games causing your thumbs to hurt, you can just remap those buttons to the back of the controller and let your other fingers take some of the strain away from your thumbs. The only downsides that come to mind are that there's no gyro controls or HD rumble (or any rumble for that matter). I personally don't mind those exclusions, but some people might. However the exclusions I DO mind, are the lack of Amiibo functionality, and the apparent lack of ... MoreThis controller is SO CUTE!!!!It's very light and feels a bit hollow, but honestly that just makes it more comfortable to hold. I tend to keep my Joycons nearby incase I need either of those functions, but people who are looking to replace their Joycons with this: Just know that you won't have gyro controls, rumble, Amiibo support, and if your console is docked you're gonna have to press the power button on the console itself to wake it up when it's in sleep mode.
Definitely a nice controller compared to the joycons. The joycons work great when you using the switch as a portable handheld system but when it's docked and your gaming on TV these Controllers are a must have IMO. There are many out there to choose from but definitely worth the investment if your planning to play while system is docked. I personally feel when using joy-cons while they aren't attached to the sides for gaming on the go they feel like I'm gonna break them. Never have felt that way while joy-cons are being used for portable gaming it's just when they are disconnected from the screen and using them just in my hands or connected to that cheap feeling controller thing that comes with the switch. Remotes lasted a year, I bought 3 and exactly 1 year later all 3 went out the same time. The power wires still works but the remotes won’t power on. Remotes did seem a bit delayed when pressing the buttons. I did added warranty, but don’t bother with warranty, the claiming process was easy and approved, but the links to the gifts cards numbers don’t work, keeps saying error. The email says if there’s any problem email the help email address, which doesn’t t work, says mailbox no longer in use, I’ve used the help chat on mobile app, they weren’t able to help neither. So I’m still stuck with links to gift cards that doesn’t work so I’ll never know the number and pin to it and no one can help. The gift cards were sent by Allstate square trade. In today's market for controllers even a wired one is usually in the ballpark of $50+ dollars. But this one is very low price. But because of low price you can expect the drawbacks that would come with it. In my experience the controller is too light weight. At around 6 oz maybe? And maybe for some of you that's fine. But I have large hands and this make it feel like I'm going to break it.As for durability however, I'm not rough with my equipment but since I bought this about a month ago it has yet to degrade in any way. It's cheap and you get a controller that works! And if it does happen to break? It's not going to be a $70 hit that a pro controller would dish out.6.5/10 you get what you pay for and it works, would recommend heavily if you're in a pinch
