A HORRIBLE CONTROLLER!

Okay, A few things about this particular remote, but I acknowledge that I did not pay enough attention before buying it so some of what I found lacking was my own fault. That being said, here are the pros and cons as I see them: Pros: Gamecube controller layout! Extra purple button to make it more like the joy-cons if you are used to them. Both the C-stick and regular controller stick will click down, (Apparently you need that for some games.) as well as the + - buttons and a home and screenshot button. No batteries needed! The size is about right, the controller is just as responsive as they were on the Gamecube. Or at least as responsive as mine were. I didn't know how much a difference the familiar layout would be until I tested it out and almost broke my classic ... MoreOkay, A few things about this particular remote, but I acknowledge that I did not pay enough attention before buying it so some of what I found lacking was my own fault. Both the C-stick and regular controller stick will click down, (Apparently you need that for some games.) as well as the + - buttons and a home and screenshot button. No batteries needed! The size is about right, the controller is just as responsive as they were on the Gamecube. Or at least as responsive as mine were. I didn't know how much a difference the familiar layout would be until I tested it out and almost broke my classic mode high score almost without really trying. So that was really surprising to me. The cord is nice and long, you don't have to sit too close to the television. And since it is removable, if anything ever happens to the cord, you can get a new one instead of a whole new controller. Cons!: No battery at all! This one is my fault, I thought that these had internal battery packs and the wire was for charging like my big wireless remote with the joycon layout (a Pro Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch) does. Nope. This guy HAS to be plugged in to the dock to work AT ALL and has no wifi/bluetooth connection capabilities that I could find. Related: Unless there is some gadget/adapter I am unaware of, you can only use one of these at a time. Making buying more than one to play with friend/s a useless endeavor. Buttons are on the loud side. I did not think this would be a big deal and maybe it only sounds louder because it's so hollow on the inside, but it is a least as loud as someone typing on an old (Clacky) keyboard with the tall keys instead of the flat newer (usually quieter) keys. If you don't mind or have your tv volume up high enough not to notice, no problem. If you're trying to play quietly and not wake a sleeping baby... well depends on the baby I suppose. The weight, is wrong. I don't have a good enough scale to tell you the exact difference but compared to an original Gamecube controller, it is lacking to say the least. The core buttons themselves (A,B,X,Y) are the only parts that feel the same. The D-pad is bigger but that may not actually be a bad thing the old one dug into my thumb when I had to use it. Probably would feel different if there was anything but a thin board of electronics in there, but there isn't. No smooth finish on the outside, it feels like one of thoseknock-off GC controllers that someone may have bought you as a present because they didn't know any better. It feels cheap. You don't have to push the triggers down very far at all, like less than half the amount compared to an original controller. On the original GC controller, you could pull the trigger down a good way (Like you needed to for super Mario sunshine.) and if you wanted another function pull it down completely until it clicked. That would be impossible with the new product, the triggers act more like buttons than triggers. And on one side I can hear the spring when I use it. There is no rumble, like at all, in fact I was so surprised by this that I went online to research and see if perhaps the ones that were battery powered might be different. Nope! None of the new Gamecube style controllers I could find had rumble, not even the new editions with Pokemon on them! (Does not support HD rumble, IR motion of Amibo NFC) The only advantage of using the battery controllers is that you can have more than 1 connected to the same Switch at a time. Frankly, I find this shocking! What game controllers DON'T have rumble anymore? If something as small as the joycon can rumble why is there nothing in most of these controllers? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. Leaving out such a basic function and charging as much as the originally did. If I had bought one of these brand new from the store and found out how much they were lacking, I would have returned it. I'm astonished that this and all the rest are "Official Nintendo Licensed Products" For shame. So my final opinion is that these were a good idea, but I would be more inclined to actually use them if they had at least rumble or a rechargeable battery pack and wireless connectivity. I may as well have saved myself the trouble and just bought the adapter to use my original Gamecube controllers, at least I already have those! (Which I will be doing shortly)

They have used it maybe 5 times total over the span of 2-3 months. What a waster of plastic. And now this will be in a landfill somewhere because clearly no cares about making things last any more. And of course we are out of the return window. What a piece of crap. We bought this controller because the controllers that came with our Nintendo Switch bought from target as well, were also faulty (the top bottoms, ZR, R, L, ZL just stopped working within a few weeks of purchase.) Shame on Nintendo for their crappy cheat products.

Good, BUT ONLY IF under 20 dollars

Controller was decent...returned it for a better controller that was on sale, which was the afterglow wired controller. It was a bit pricier (5 dollars more, i think), but it was worth it for 2 reasons for me:1. This PowerA controller has 2 buttons on the back that I often would hit since they are placed on the grips of the controller where my fingers would rest. Hence, any tense or quick moments that occur in my game tends to make me grip the controller tighter, forcing me to press one of the grip buttons. With the Afterglow controller, I do not have this problem.2. The placement of the plus, minus, photo and home buttons on the controller are too confusingly close together; granted, I'm coming primarily from a primarily Xbox player, but I constantly get them ... MoreController was decent...returned it for a better controller that was on sale, which was the afterglow wired controller. Again, the Afterglow controller is preferable because the home and photo button are placed much higher away and further away from the plus and minus buttons on this PowerA Controller.Aside from these 2 reasons/comparisons, this controller was functional and worth it if you are on a very tight budget (under 20 bucks). There were no errors or problems I had with this controller from the 1-2 weeks I was using it (about 20 hours total playtime)

This controller looks amazing. As a huge Mario fan this is definitely a collector for me. As I took it out the box I loved the Mario print on the controller. It's super lightweight! The buttons are smooth when playing. The material of the controller is simple. Feels just plastic. Compared to other controllers I use, this one I want to display in my clear box. I would have wanted it o feel more sturdy, this one feels more fragile. It's great controller for someone starting off. It really brings back childhood memories.

Normally, third party companies make horrible controllers with a lot of input lag, but this one is surprisingly solid. For PvP games, this is extremely important and I noticed no issues with response time at all.- Design: The design layout/ ergonomic feel of the controller is the exact same as the wireless pro controller so it was easy to get accustomed to. It feels good and fits well in my hands so I can game on it comfortably for hours. As an added bonus, there is a fun and colorful Mario design on the controller as well.- Additional buttons/ paddles: This controller has additional paddles/ buttons on the backhand side. No matter how you hold the controller, those additional buttons are placed in easy to reach/ convenient locations on the controller so they add to your gaming experience to make things easier for you. The buttons work well and are easy to operate.- Mic port: The controller includes a mic port which works surprisingly well. I didnt expect for the controller to have this so this was a nice plus/ surprise.- Wired: This is both a pro and con, but in terms of the pros, this controller will never die on you. This is also most likely the reason why the controller has great responsiveness and no input lag.Cons:- Weight/ finish: This is a personal preference so it may not bothers others as much, but for me the weight of the controller and finish on the surface are issues for me. As mentioned, I'm accustomed to using a wireless pro controller so the PowerA controller is very light in comparison. It feels almost hollow on the inside which makes it extremely light. Also, the finish on the controller's surface is a smooth finish all around. The analog sticks has a hint of rubber feel for additional grip, but it still feels quite slippery.- Buttons: The button clicks are not smooth. It feels cheap and doesn't have a solid feel. The analog sticks are also stiff so for FPS games it's harder to aim on.- Wired: As mentioned before, this is both a pro and con. The cons include the inconvenience of having to plug the controller in. The wire provided is extremely long so it's not too much of an issue if you wish to sit 10 or so feet away, but it simply creates more clutter. The other con of wired controllers is that you have to play on a dock in order to use it. You can't plug it directly into the switch if you wish to take it on the go. Also, the controller has a usb port, which is a bit outdated now that everything is usb-c.All in all, I think this controller is great for the price - especially if you're a casual gamer. Most of the cons listed are personal preferences so they may not be too much of an issue for another person. Overall, since the controller is wired and the price point is less than half of the price for a pro controller, you honestly can't go wrong having the PowerA - whether it's meant as a backup controller or your main controller.

Personal Love there Switch Pro Controllers

Definitely a nice controller compared to the joycons. The joycons work great when you using the switch as a portable handheld system but when it's docked and your gaming on TV these Controllers are a must have IMO. There are many out there to choose from but definitely worth the investment if your planning to play while system is docked. I personally feel when using joy-cons while they aren't attached to the sides for gaming on the go they feel like I'm gonna break them. Never have felt that way while joy-cons are being used for portable gaming it's just when they are disconnected from the screen and using them just in my hands or connected to that cheap feeling controller thing that comes with the switch. Afterwards, when I used the Nintendo Switch's controller-calibration feature to figure out what was going on, it became clear that the hardware in the controller was no longer functioning properly: when I input a movement to the left with the control stick, the calibration feature showed on-screen that the controller was registering and executing a move to the left to a certain point, then quickly moved all the way to the right, and then continued moving left. This issue may not seem significant, however, it renders a controller completely useless. The game which this controller is primarily used for requires very precise, quick inputs of information that must be carried out as they are intended for the game to work. When an issue like this happens, a controller become a liability because you can't do what you want to do.Given how long my previous controller lasted before it began to degrade, how expensive this controller is, and that I bought this product because it was advertised as being the best for the game I compete in, I feel incredibly disappointed by this purchase. I went back to using my old controller which, even degraded, was significantly better than this purchase because it didn't have this sensor issue.I packed away this controller while at college hoping to see if it could be repaired or replaced. However, when we were asked to move out of our rooms early because of COVID, it got lost in the mess and I only rediscovered it a few days ago when I finished sorting through the stuff from my dorm.I sincerely don't believe that Best Buy is out here selling cheap products that break only a month after the return/exchange policy expires. I suspect that my product was faulty and that if I were to have picked out the controller on the shelf to the left, it wouldn't have had this issue. I want to keep using this product if there some way to repair or replace it.Is there any way I could get my product repaired or replaced? I would like to use it if possible.Thank you!

Should come included with every switch!

Lightweight controller that is more comfortable than the stock controller. The stock controller for the switch is sized for child's hands and is way too small for adults to use comfortably. This Xbox style controller makes the games far more playable and enjoyable. It is wired but the wire is extra long so it doesn't bother me. Great purchase. $30-$40 and it fixes the joy con drift issue as well. It's only missing the rumble pack and motion control. But it's way cheaper than the official pro controller so I don't miss those features. And when I do I can easily switch back to the stock controller, for the richer experience.
