Great Product! Just what I needed so I can use my Home Phone (on the NBN). When there is a power failure. Well worth it.

Provides a good stable 240V modified square wave and has good information on the front display. However, the display backlight is way too bright, is aggressive on the eyes in a darkened room and doesn't turn off with the unit giving no feedback that the unit is even off. I use the front button on UPS's to shut off all standby power when not needed but this unit draws a minimum of 12 Watts even when off. That equates to $28 a year at our current rates which over the 15 year life of my last units is over $400 just in standby power. This is advertised as having offline charging but the internal transformer runs at nearly 70 degrees C just idling and even emits a hot varnish/plastic smell. This heat is just wasted power from a very inefficient charging system. If it is providing power from the battery the transformer gets worryingly hot within a few minutes. I don't like leaving appliances on when I'm not home but especially one that runs hot enough to be of concern of potentially causing a house fire. I ended up modifying it with a 2.2k resistor in line with the backlight LED to dim the display, and adding another relay powered from the front switch to disconnect the incoming mains when the front switch is off. This was just to save throwing it out as it annoyed me that much. The software to monitor it is clunky and problematic. It gives good information after I reinstalled it three times but runs on javascript and locked up often using 100% CPU. It also has a continual stream of data up and downloading from the net while it is active so I deactivated it from starting with Windows.
