I was due an upgrade on my previous Turntable, and with a 1500 strong record collection it was time to level up. The Pro-Ject Debut Pro is one of the nicest pieces of equipment I've ever used. The set up, which seems daunting on the surface was smooth and easy, and it looks incredibly smart. Sound wise, it is incredible. Deep bass, crisp trable and warm mids, and this is with a no bells and whistles Onkyo Amp and Mission MKII speakers. I can't recommend this turntable enough

This is an exceptional turntable for this price range. I have paired this up with a Cambridge Audio ALVA Duo phono stage (purchased together with the turntable)- and therefore I have the bonus of a great headphone amp. This is currently hooked up to an older Cambridge Audio Azur amp - and sounds amazing. The fitted Pick-It cartridge is based on the Ortofon 2M range - so I have switched over an ortofon Blue stylus - which I had already, The fitted stylus is good nonetheless. This latest indulgence was bought from the Reading branch - as ever - friendly and knowledgable staff.

I dropped into the Reigate branch this week for advice on turntables. With friendly help from John - I bought a Pro ject Debut pro which was handily already in stock. This device sounds great as it is but can have upgrades added at a later date for extra performance. Heartily recommend the service from Richer Sounds

Purchased online for a click and collect at Kingston having visited the store a couple of weeks earlier to look at the turntables. Everything was completely smooth and to time. Very good service.I am playing the turntable using the phono input on a NAD C658 DAC, all digital processing off for this port, with a NAD C268 power amp and Monitor audio silver 600 speakers. It simply blows my old Rega P2 out of the water, making by Audiolab 6000 CDT sound quite dry and analytical in contrast. And I love that drive! So far, the turntable, with only the puck added as an extra, has brought life to base lines (Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al” a great example), shown detail I had not heard before (someone playing a triangle on an Elvis 1960s B side), made the xylophone on the ... MorePurchased online for a click and collect at Kingston having visited the store a couple of weeks earlier to look at the turntables. The whole sound has depth and fills my room. Very happy indeed.
Really pleased with our new amp and turntable, had a demo which confirmed out initial selectionPlayed at home sounded just as good, even better. The guys at Cardiff branch were brilliant, really helpful , very knowledgeable. My kit arrived in a day! Very pleased.
I was having issues with a previous turntable I had also purchased from Richer Sounds over a year ago. I was offered great advice and a mini service which rectified most of the setup issues, however the unit just wasn't for me. The Edinburgh team were great and offered me a very fair trade-in price considering the time since purchase. I used the funds to purchase the debut pro which arrived days later and has been brilliant. Really solid unit with a great sound, highly recommended.Top notch customer service, will be buying through RS again.
The service from the Prestwich branch, and Andy was first class. The Pro ject carbon satin black sounds superb, along with looks. The recommended Audioquest anti static, works wonderfully.I was after some speakers for the kitchen, Andy suggested Dali spektor 1, his advice was spot on, great sound & great looking.Thanks.
Shipping was quick and uneventful. Turntable seems to be well made, although the anti-skate has me a little worried. It is a small weight dangling from a piece of fishing line. We'll see on that. Records play, and sound as good as my main TT. All in all I guess I'm ok with my purchase. That fishing line and sinker though, I don't know about that.
My first Project turntable. All seems good quality. Parts are nicely weighted and nickle plated. Speed switch is gorgeous. Good quality phono leads with earth are supplied . Set up is straight forward, although fine tuning the tracking is easier using a digital scale than the supplied see/saw . However, I have set up easier nylon line anti skate systems than this one. When set to the end groove on the tone arm antiskate hook (per the excellent online instruction from Project for this very deck) the line continually fell off when the arm was return to the home position. Adjusting the angle of the wire antiskate support (easy with the supplied tool) improved matters greatly, but there is a fine point on the adjustment beyond which the nylon line shoots the other way ... MoreMy first Project turntable. Adjusting the angle of the wire antiskate support (easy with the supplied tool) improved matters greatly, but there is a fine point on the adjustment beyond which the nylon line shoots the other way up the hook! Handily the hook is the same size as the ink tube in a common brand of yellow biros, and a simple 1mm ring cut from the end of one of these tubes pushes on the hook perfectly. Probably not a recommended bodge but it looks neat and works well. I love the sound of this deck it makes all my 40 year records sound cleaner with less pops and crackles than I would have believed. To conclude, nice update over the Evo although sub platter is still plastic, and the Pro Puck is an optional extra if you can find one.Beware: you will need a phono stage, you also will need an amp with an earth screw as the power supply provided is not earthed.
Bought 2 weeks ago I am still finding this product a challenge to set up and avoid the pitfalls involved in getting a turntable to its optimum performance level. I bought this as an upgrade to a Project Essential III which got me back into vinyl during the pandemic having been away from it since 1987! A few issues - anti-skate system is quite a fiddle and actually resulted in me returning the first product delivered due to a fault. The replacement product works ok but I always check that the system is still in place as any jolt may displace it. Second issue relates to cartridge alignment and Vertical Tracking Angle. I wanted to upgrade from the supplied Pick It Pro cartridge to a 2M Blue Ortofon cartridge to avoid the slightly leaner sound of the former and having ... MoreBought 2 weeks ago I am still finding this product a challenge to set up and avoid the pitfalls involved in getting a turntable to its optimum performance level. I wanted to upgrade from the supplied Pick It Pro cartridge to a 2M Blue Ortofon cartridge to avoid the slightly leaner sound of the former and having just purchased an iFi Zen 3 Phono Preamp. I purchased a Project 1MM cork/rubber mix platter mat to ensure VTA not compromised. Third issue relates to sensitivity to vibration - I cannot wall mount to avoid the suspended flooring issue which means I have to isolate the turntable as best as I can, I am still experimenting with this as the sensitivity to vibration is greater than the Essential III. So all in all quite a lot of adjustment to carry out. In terms of sound improvement there is an overall improvement to soundstage, instrument separation, bass tightness, midrange and treble clarity. The Debut really is a step up for sure. Given that the Pro now gives way to the Pro B the issues I am experiencing will still be similar as the main differences are related to balanced outputs and less the actual turntable functionality. If sound improvement is the aim there is no doubt this is a good product to consider bearing in mind to take care with set up.
