Too twisted up and curly to easily be effective at siphoning Kerosene. It I took me over an hour to siphon just over a gallon. I’ve siphoned a lot in my lifetime and this isn’t one of the better siphoning units I’ve used. I finally went and bought a rigid, straight siphoner and I had it all siphoned in five minutes. I wouldn’t recommend this unit.

If you follow the directions it works

The directions are clear as day but if you have used other siphon devices which have a valve this will seem counter intuitive. You may want to stick the end that is most coiled from being packaged in a Toaster Oven as I did , this will relax any set in curl and make it lay into the vessel you are pumping from to the bottom and allow complete removal of the fluid.Simply put , here is how it works. You put one end into the tank or container, pinch off the other end and squeeze the bulb about 3-5 times , this forces the air out of the tube and bulb and sucks the fluid in , do this until there is no more air, then place the end into the receiving vessel. So long as the receiving end is lower than the draw end it will pull ALL the liquid.I wouldnt use this on Thick ... MoreThe directions are clear as day but if you have used other siphon devices which have a valve this will seem counter intuitive. It worked for what I bought it for, barely.

I was able to drain my 4 wheeler gas tank, very slowly. That was only after I slid the cheap flimsy always curling up hose that came with it, inside a small piece of pipe to keep it straight. Otherwise it just curled up in the tank getting nothing accomplished. The hose needs to be more ridged, and it needs to be straighter! Maybe it would work better pushing it down through the fuel fill on a car, but I doubt it. I noticed some of the 1 star reviews were people who couldn't read the directions for priming the bulb. After each of the first few pumps, you have to put your finger over the end of the hose so it doesn't just suck air back in when you let off the priming bulb.

It works, if you work

This was slightly easier to use than the siphon that comes with a hand pump and kinked up orange hoses that I tried before. Unfortunately this is the only way to get old oil out of my Cub Cadet RZT-S because since it was new, no one can get the drain plug out of it. I don't think any siphon is simple to use for oil and it will take a little time to drain out. Once I would start to pump this while holding the end of the line closed, I would see oil slowly start to rise up the tube. As long as it was still flowing I kept the end of the line closed. Once it would start to fill the pump with oil, sometimes I could squeeze that and get more oil dispersed into drain pan. It can be tricky. If you lose the flow, then you have to do this over and get it re-started to siphon ... MoreThis was slightly easier to use than the siphon that comes with a hand pump and kinked up orange hoses that I tried before. You have to be patient with oil and just go sit down while it slowly drains. I like the clear tube on this one because I can see the oil and know if it needs re-primed again.

It works.

Works as advertised. Put your thumb over the end of the tube, squeeze the bulb once or twice... liguid starts flowing. The only issue I had was the tubing kept trying to go back to the coiled shape it had in the package. This made it tough to keep it below the surface in my motorcycle tanks. Its probably not great for more than a couple gallons at a time, as the tubing isn't very large diameter.

It works.. but has issues
25 March 2023

This worked to drain a snowblower gas tankThe issue is the tube is coiled up and tends to stay that way, so for my snowblower tank, I had to attach it to a stick with rubber bands to keep the tube straight. Once I did that, I was able to siphon all the gas out.Other than the coiling issue, the product works fine. For the price I guess you can't really expect too much.

Save your money

Didn't even work. I didn't realize from the picture the tube was so small, but it didn't matter because I couldn't get it to pull any liquid. Bought it to empty a gas tank I was removing. Even if it worked, it would be way too small for that. I ended up buying one from the big online place (can't name it or the moderator won't allow this review). it is the Equalseal Multi-Purpose Siphon Transfer Pump Kit. It worked perfectly. The hose was the perfect size to hook up to the fuel pickup line. In just a few minutes, I had pumped out the remaining 7 gallons from the tank.

Worked great for what it is
4 May 2023

Worked exactly as expected. After reading descriptions and reviews I bought this because it was all I needed. And it just worked. I give it 4 stars because it really should have larger diameter hose but it is what it is. And for the folks complaining about the hose curling, put it in a pot of simmering water for a couple of minutes, stretch it out straight and let it cool.

Worked, but packaging slows you down and 3 hands
5 March 2021

I needed to get gas into a truck I was selling and the gas can I was using kept leaking so I thought this would help. Like most people, I bought it the day I needed it. It was packaged so tightly wound that it was almost impossible to get the short end to STAY in the gas can. Add to the fact you have to keep your finger over the end when pumping before putting it into the receiving end. So, a hand to hold the top in because it wants to curl out, a hand to pump, and a hand to hold the end and then quickly get it into the receiver without it curling up on you to. See the difficulty it presents? I used shipping tape to hold the top and yes, it did move gas from one location to the other but it kept stopping and I’d have to pump it again. Yes my gas can was higher ... MoreI needed to get gas into a truck I was selling and the gas can I was using kept leaking so I thought this would help. Yes my gas can was higher (science is easy) but the curling of the cord kept fighting it. I finally had enough in the truck to start it and sell it so task accomplished but with more effort than you would think. I believe once the newness wears off and it’s not so coiled, it will be fine. Who knows if I’ll need it by then or able to find it!

Works with gasoline
8 January 2018

Used it today to siphon gasoline out of the snowblower. At first it didn't seem to work. Turns out because the tube end is curled so much that it was not submerged into the liquid (gas) in the tank. So you really need two persons to help. With my friend ensuring the tube was in the gas , closed the other end with my thumb, and squeezed the bulb.I hear bubbles right away and wheni released the bulb, I saw gas suck out from the tank and down the tube. Yes!Now, a tip, when the tank is low, it's impossible to continue as the tube end is curled. So I used strong and tied a disposable chopstick to the tube end , making the tube straight. Put this into the snowblower tank and was able to suck out almost all of the gas.So needs 2 people, but it does work for gasoline ... MoreUsed it today to siphon gasoline out of the snowblower.
