We just switched to this brand from the regular purina one with salmon. Our one cat is a bit overweight and we began to be concerned. We switched to the indoor advantage purina one and the cats didn’t even notice the difference. They are eating less, however. We have an automatic feeder and I usually have to give them some more that is typically dispensed thru out the day. Since switching I don’t have to give them any extra and there is always food in their bowl. We free feed so this food seems to be working out well.

We have fed our cats this hairball food for 10 years. Until last year when we finally ran out of our stock pile, I had to reorder. All 4 of my cats became ill with the new bag. Projectile vomiting and lethargic…they all stopped eating it on their own eventually. They wouldn’t even drink water for 4 days and they stopped eating their morning wet food that week. We called Purina and learned they took one ingredient out and added two in its place that could cause gastric issues, cramps and bloating and vomiting. We since changed food but it was a really bad month for us. Thankfully all our cats survived….but one took a lot longer to come around than the others. It was scary and awful. Beware.

A life with Rescue Animals is richly filled with love and humor. Difficulties with digestion call for consideration and care for my felines. One has beautiful long hair yet cannot digest her food consistently. Purina One+Plus Hairball Formula Natural Adult Cat Food is a surprisingly glorious remedy. Now she preens and commands her territory with a calm digestive system. Wonderful change for her well-being!

Exceptiional To Help Control Messy Hairball Issues
7 December 2023

My cat is a very fluffy partial Main Coon and has long fluffy fur. He kept having hairball issues every few days and I was cleaning up the mess time and again. I decided to give this Purina One Hairball Formula a try to see if it would really help with the hairball issues my cat was having. It worked like a charm. I've been feeding it to my cat for about 2 months now and WOW what a change in the hairball issues. What was once a week issue with hairballs so far has only happened once and that's in 2 months. I'd definitely say this cat food works for hairball issues and not only that my cat looks very healthy and strong and his fur looks heathy as well. I will continue to keep feeding our cat this food.

Gagging, coat problems, allergies

Hey! I never leave reviews...but some strange things happen when I feed this to my cat. I wanted to try this because I have a 10-year-old VERY long hair American cat (Maine coon + Siberian mix). The hairballs are a force to be reckoned with. I do brush her weekly, but there's just too much hair in the spring and summer! I had her on this food for several weeks back in December, and she liked it, ate it every time. But as time went on, she began to vomit more. Also, her coat began to thin, she was chewing on her tail, and she just seemed like she wasn't feeling well. Long story short, she developed a paw infection caused by allergies. The vet said it could be the food, but it could have also been a flea bite. I took her off the food just to be safe, and her coat ... MoreHey! The vet said it could be the food, but it could have also been a flea bite. I took her off the food just to be safe, and her coat returned to normal, digestion back to normal, and she was feeling better within a week. Ok, so here we are - I went on vacation for a night and decided to put this in her automatic feeder to tie her over (I know! What was I thinking?) A week in, and the same symptoms are appearing. She hasn't pooped in 2 days, she coughed up some stuff (not hair) a couple of days ago, and I can tell she doesn't feel well. Needless to say, this isn't the food for her. It must be something in her DNA or microbiome. For the record, she usually eats wet food that is grain-free and high protein...so my bad for trying to switch it up. The search for healthy dry food for the automatic feeder continues...all I gotta say is, I don't trust these highly specific formulas...this did not work, and it's kind of scary what happens to her. I can tell her coat and skin are irritated. Whatever it does to reduce hairballs, I don't think it's good for the animal long term.

My Siberian cat has been eating this exact food for 12 years now. He will be 14 years old this year, is healthy, active and happy. For those of you that don’t know about the World Small Animal Veterinary Association, they have a set of rules that companies should follow for your cat or dog food. Purina is a company that follows those practices as well as IAMS, Eukanuba, Hills Science Diet %26 Royal Canin. Each ingredient in your pet food has a purpose. Don’t be fooled by “boutique” brand dog or cat foods. Do some research on what some of the more expensive foods can do to your pet and then decide if you want to risk your pets life for a boutique dog or cat food. It’s not worth the risk. I highly recommend the Purina ONE +Plus sensitive skin & stomach mixed with Purina ONE +Plus hairball formula. I personally would recommend this 50/50 mix for all cats because it is that amazing. My cat has tried several foods and she struggled on all of them. However, with all pet foods make sure you slowly introduce the new food because if you don’t you will get a false read on tolerance to the new food. This process takes several weeks. I started with 25% new to 75% old, 50% new to 50% old, 75% new to 25% old, and then 100% new. I’m on the 75% new to 25% old at this time I feel confident enough to state that this is the first food that has been successful. With all of the other foods she had significant throwing up struggles and veterinarians could not figure out if it was allergy, hairball, digestive related, etc. She absolutely enjoys this food and has significantly less health issues. She has been on this new food for approximately six weeks and has only had one small throw up episode versus one per day (varying in size). This is a significant improvement!

This is the first time I use this product style, so I can't comment on the hairball aid proclaimed by Purina One yet. The taste of chicken is not prominent at all, it tastes like flour. Yes, I tasted it for my cats, to judge for myself if chicken is their first ingredient. I can neither confirm nor deny this statement. It may be but it doesn't taste like it. Also, I misread the label and thought this too had the "soft morsels" of chicken as the Purina One Tender morsels--picture on bag looks the same, my bad! This one is all hard chew bits, small enough though my cats don't mind it too much it's all hard. The label on Wal-Mart site has it for 7 lb. but it's the 17 lb. bag I purchased. I still believe it's expensive for the amount of food, $34.48 the bag. My cat moe moe Loves it! And she needs it because we found out she has a deasase to do with her digestive system. She's my heart! She's back fluffy now but i have to go get her shaved down Monday because it helps her not to have hairballs and the disease she has can be fatal. So I Try my best to get her where it's not hard for her to do number 2 and she's got to loose 5 lbs because she's borderline diabetic the vet said. Any suggestions? I need to find a way to get her to exercise inside my house because she wasa baby when we found her a bought her in. She's extremely spoiled she's only snuck out twice for 30 minutes at the most when she was still very young but very afraid and freaked out we couldn't catch her she finally came back in after about 30 minutes and she ... MoreMy cat moe moe Loves it! helping hairballs

I always feed my 5 yr old cats quality grain free mix of two varieties...but hairballs increasing now to several times a week. Switched off one variety for Purina Hairball control and added Greenie treats daily and hairballs have to dropped dramatically to once in the last two weeks. They like the food, but I cannot stand the awful ingredients...by products?...corn...? and corn...? So I will drop the Purina and switch to blue Buffalo hairball and see what happens. If the hairballs come back, I guess it is back to Purina.
