For casseroles this is ideal. It holds almost three quarts in a very small footprint. I had been using a large Pyrex dish that was long. It did not fit in the sink as easily as this does for cleaning. This also takes up very little space in the refrigerator. The top is ugly but snaps in place better than Pyrex's regular size dishes which have red covers.

Both the dish and the lid are dishwasher safe with the lid on the top shelf. And as with most glass bake ware you should always preheat the oven before you put the dish in. The pan is 8 by 8 inches. And is 2.7 inches deep. It holds 2.6 quarts.

I decided to test it on something no other square pan can do correctly, cook a double batch of brownies and not burn them or leave them raw inside. I followed the directions on the recipe for size of pan and time for one batch, there was none for deep dish pans. I cooked it the required time, then had to add on 7 more minutes before the inserted toothpick came out clean. After letting them cool, my husband and I each ate one. I cut them into normal size brownies forgetting about the depth, so they were huge, but they had cooked perfectly! We have already eaten them all, they were that good. This time it took quite a bit longer then my metal loaf pan, but after I raised the temperature from 350 to 375, it was done in no time. Again there was no burning on top, which happens on the edges when I use a metal loaf pan, it was cooked to 180 inside, perfect for ground chicken and beef mixed together. I removed the meatloaf from the pan after we had dinner and let the empty pan sit for 48 hours to see how much work I had to put into it this time to clean it. I had only soaked it in plain warm water 15 minutes, dumped it out, it was still very greasy, added soap, and it came clean with no grease left easier than the brownies did. This is a very good baking pan. I hope this deeper pan comes in rectangular pans too, I want to replace mine with Pyrex.
