QNAP TS-464-8G 4-Bay Tower NAS

The TS-464 is a compact 4-Bay NAS with outstanding performance. It supports up to 66 TB of storage and 4 TB of M.2 SSD caching to tackle your multitasking challenges in file management, backup, collaboration, and video conversion. By setting up port aggregation with the two integrated 2.5 GbE ports (2.5G/1G/100M), the TS-464 offers transfer speeds of up to 589 MB/s, making it as fast as a 10 GbE NAS with a single port. With the multitasking-optimized Intel Quad-Core processor, you can run additional tasks, stream more media, and utilize more services. The integrated graphics processor (GPU) enhances video conversion and enables smooth video streaming from the NAS to mobile devices. Future-proof your network connection by installing a dual-port PCIe 10 GbE network card that provides transfer speeds of up to 1,647 MB/s. Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) ports allow for faster backups to and from USB devices. If two M.2 slots are not enough, you can add a QM2 PCIe expansion card for additional M.2 SSD slots.

Excellent Upgrade

I waited for this unit to become available and I'm very glad I did. This was an excellent upgrade from a dead TS-453mini. Much faster at doing everything. I put 16-GB of RAM from Team Group 2x8GB-3200 DDR4-SODimm in it and it flies. My 453mini died shortly after I had updated to 5.0.0 (1911). I simply moved over the drives from the dead unit (in the correct order), turned on this unit and it started right up, recognized everything and just worked. I simply had to do a file system check and then the firmware update and all is perfect. QNAP definitely hit a home run with this unit.

I recently upgraded to this NAS from 453Be and, albeit same design as the old one, this one has few important advantages - it can allow up to 16 Gb of memory. it also has built in two SSD NVME slots which could be used for caching or Q-Tier. It also has dual 2.5 GB LAN connection. I think this NAS is pretty good for its price range.

Great NAS.

Quick and easy to use and set up for RAID 5 but does take a few hours to initialise. Very easy to upgrade the memory to 16gb and then download the apps you want to use. Works extremely well and probably has more features than I will ever need but if it lasts a few years like my last Qnap NAS I won’t mind.
