I have had this amp for about three weeks and I am delighted with it. It has so many up-to-date features and yet it was very easy to set up and get running. Even using it to play hi-res audio files located on my PC presented no technical challenges. And its appearance more than satisfies my nostalgia for the way amps looked 30+ years ago!As for how it sounds, I'm very pleased. It powers my Mission floor standing speakers as well as my desk top speakers, and selecting between the speaker pairs is easily facilitated by the comprehensive remote control. It's a lovely amp, well deserving a 5 star rating.

I've only had this amp for just over a week, but so far I'm really impressed by the sound quality and the build quality. It feels expensive, sounds expensive and looks OK.Set up took some trial and error (mostly connecting my Bluetooth headphones), but once I'd figured it out we're all good. The only downside is that the writing on the front is a bit difficult to read.

This is the 3rd Yamaha Receiver/Amp in my house. The setup was easy and in few minutes I was able to start streaming from Spotify. R-N600A is connected to a brand new Klipsch RP-600M IIs. The sound quality is unparalleled whether the source is Spotify, Qobuz, Server, Net Radio or CD. I have CD player connected through Coax which sounds equally good as FLAC from Qobuz. The only complaint about this receiver is the fonts or the size of fonts used for the display. When Spotify is the source it shows something like SPOTIFy. I wish Yamaha paid more attention to the aesthetics of the display font.Personally I would prefer the font to be a tad smaller that what it is now.
Good sound & features, easy to use WITH THE CELLPHONE APP -- but the control panel and the remote-control device are lacking. Also, one of our favorite Sirius stations is available on Alexa but not on this device for unexplained reasons. When playing a Sirius station, the display says only "Sirius" without reference to the particular station. The FM tuner only displays the frequency, not the call letters and not the "now playing" information commonly displayed in my car stereo for FM stations that broadcast it. Tuning to presets by way of the control panel or remote is a major headache. Tuning to presets by way of the control panel or remote is a major headache. The Yamaha RX-495 that this unit replaces had buttons that allowed going straight to any preset, but this unit has only buttons for shifting through presets one-by-one in consecutive number sequence, with long delay between the button press and the unit response so one can never be sure exactly how far one has gone. The only way to effectively switch among presets is via the MusicCast cell phone app, and it is not clear how well THAT would work if one had a large number of presets.
This unit sounds fantastic, has all the features anyone could want especially for under $1000 price point. I have used Cambridge and Rotel units that sold for more money but were not any better or in some areas as good as this unit. The review mentioning the tuner is weird, who listens to FM, the quality on any FM on any unit is terrible ?? For the money this amp sounds very good with plenty of power as well. I have used it with Wharfedale Lintons, Mission 700's, Dali Oberon 3's, and Tannoys, all sounded very good. I got it in Silver, and it looks great next to my Technics SL1500C in White. Great Unit Overall.
I'm very satisfied both with this purchase and the service I received from Richer Sounds. They agreed a very attractive price match - so all the advantages of the lowest price, convenient store location, good guarantee, and rapid delivery direct from the manufacturer, coupled with pleasant and knowledgeable staff/service.The receiver is equally satisfactory - easy to set up, excellent sound quality, convenient to operate, and attractive appearance.Only two very minor criticisms of the receiver - while the build quality is clearly high, the sound control knobs (bass, treble etc) are plastic rather than metal/alloy and so 'feel' rather cheap compared with the other controls; and the receiver comes with several streaming services (Spotify etc) ready installed. ... MoreI'm very satisfied both with this purchase and the service I received from Richer Sounds. This may be of benefit to most users (though not to me) so they all need to be 'scrolled through' to reach the the desired signal source.I have been so pleased with this purchase that I decided to construct a proper hi-fi rack, with solid heavy duty shelving and spikes, to house all my audio equipment. It is possible to easily build a high quality rack for about £200 compared to almost identical the equivalent Atacama model costing well over £800!So, overall, a very positive opinion of this receiver and Richer Sounds. Thank you.
Receiver is great! The Bluetooth works consistently and allows anyone with a phone to connect and share tunes with the group. The MusicCast app is inconsistent. When it works, it is good, but a lot of time is spent restarting/uninstalling/installing/pairing to make it work. At some point, it just isn't worth the hassle. If the app worked well, this receiver would be a 10/10; as it is, it is 7/10.
I bought this to upgrade from an older/cheaper Sony STR-DH130. There wasn't anything wrong with the Sony and it sounded decent. It didn't have Bluetooth or a phono input. I used a pre-amp for my phono. Immediately I noticed it sounded great with my vinyl. No complaints yet. Probably more options than I need but it gives me options. It seems well built, with a nice feel to the control knobs. And it looks sexy. I would recommend it!
The amp proved to be an easy task to set up. As with most electronic gear these days they are supplied with out booklets of info. The amp provides an uncluttered back panel. The Dab radio was easy to set up and memorise the stations. I've partnered the amp with floor standing B&W speakers. Sound is clear and base range is wide. The Yam R-N600A is a heavy unit to be expected and no internal fan to make a noise.
